The New HPD website is live now!

From Wink

I presume PS Admin is aware of what's going on with HPD and CBI, and that the HPD/CBI dispute hasn't been resolved

Just to clarify, HPD has no dispute with CBI and CBI has no dispute with HPD. The former manager of CBI was fired last year. That person was replaced. CBI and HPD continue to enjoy their business relationship together.

I see John Pollard mentioned too. FYI, John stayed on with CBI while they reorganized but wanted to return to full time education. I am very happy that he will now be helping Pricescope.

Just to clarify, on Dec 4, 2020, PS Admin posted the Sticky Announcement thread (below), and have yet to post any update/status change.

Cheryl, I see you are Trade -- are your comments based on any objective information that you can share/link to, or is it information you have received from Wink?

@marymm
From the PS Admin sticky announcement:
"If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the vendor directly."
And @cflutist is not trade, at least not to my knowledge.

yes, I see I made an error, I apologize to all especially Cheryl / @cflutist, who does not have a Trade badge.

Lula, thanks for your post, but I was commenting on Cheryl's post which contains statements relating to HPD.

For myself, I find it telling that PS Admin has not seen fit to reinstate HPD on the featured sponsor list. The ability to comment on that thread has been removed by PS Admin.

@marymm, rather than cast aspersions on HPD and Wink, why not send Wink an email with your questions? He's a nice guy; he won't bite. This isn't his first rodeo. He's been in the fine jewelry and gem business a long time -- pre-CBI. He's honest and transparent. I've been a satisfied customer of his since 2009, and have made multiple purchases. I've ignored your other comments in this thread and in other threads, but this is getting old. The PS administration clearly stated "If you have any questions, please contact the vendor directly." Just pick up the phone and call him or send him an email. Then come back and update this thread.

Hi @Lula,
My questions aren't for Wink.

My comments are related to PS Admin's action in removing HPD from the PS featured sponsor list and, even now, not choosing to reinstate HPD. These are facts, not aspersions. I believe it is important information, and in fact PS Admin believes it is important information, since the thread is posted prominently on Rocky Talky.

I note again that the HPD new website has only videos, no written/published policies regarding orders, returns, shipping, upgrade policies, etc. If I am missing the HPD webpages containing this written information, please provide the links.

This was relayed to me a few days ago in regards to the new site going live

“We will be adding settings and other information about our policies, an FAQ and so on to come. But we wanted to get this part out first.”

Who are the featured sponsors? I have never looked— does PS keep a list? Where can I find a link to the featured sponsors of PS? I’d like to see what vendors on are it. Thanks.

Whitewater...The list is here I believe

Looks like the FAQ has now been updated! The 80% buyback policy seems to apply only for the first year for diamonds purchased after Mar 2021. Upgrade policy still stands though.

WHAT IS YOUR BUYBACK POLICY?

All Crafted by Infinity diamonds sold on or after March 27th, 2021 come with an 80% buyback for the first year of ownership. Diamonds purchased prior to March 26th, 2021 are grandfathered with the original buyback policy on the invoice. Buyback of diamonds with a retail value of more than $100,000 are discretionary. All diamonds eligible for buyback must be in their original, undamaged condition and accompanied by the original, undamaged diamond report(s). All buybacks are contingent upon lab inspection and evaluation of condition.

It looks like they also took the option away to trade in multiple diamonds for one or trade in one for multiple.

In February I was able to to trade three for one. It may have been grandfathered since I purchased the three under the old trade in policy but I’m glad I went ahead and did it when I did.

I just asked Wink this (since I have 5 CBIs) and he said that you could trade in multiple diamonds as long as the total is below 100k. I asked him what "discretionary" meant for diamonds totaling 100k or above. He said that the better they do, the more discretionary he could be. Lol

I can't upgrade right now anyway since we are currently building our dream home.

Wish I had that problem ...

How do people feel about this change in buy back policy for new purchases? I know it was a very generous policy and maybe does not make good business sense to continue. Just in light of the legal issues I wonder if this is something to be concerned about. I am trying to decide which super ideal vendor to start with having the intention of doing multiple upgrades over the years and am trying to weigh the pros and cons of each.

I think they only changed because every other vendor that offers it, only offers it for a year. The 80% is still more than any other that I know of so still very generous. I wouldn’t be concerned about it.

To me the downside to HPD is the limited inventory especially when you get over 2ct. I have a CBI from HPD that’s a 2.25 and I won’t be upgrading anytime soon but I know when I want to, I may be waiting a while.

Looks like the HPD website has been taken down now, directing people to the CBI website (which has very little other than the splash page) or their email. I know the story with Wolf Diamonds… but given the HPD rebranding was done just three months ago I don’t really follow what’s going on here. Has the HPD brand completely disappeared? Their Instagram has been rebranded to Wolf CBI. Feels rather disappointing if so, only having bought something branded HPD this year.

Edit: I am wondering why the company went through the whole rebranding / refresh of logo, website etc for HPD in March / April if it was going to be just folded under Wolf CBI? Seems like a lot of work!

@pandalicious - you may want to check out this thread - https://www.pricescope.com/communit...f-cbi-diamonds-amanda-diamonds-status.267422/ - at Post #13, PSAdmin states that "... High Performance Diamonds is no longer active ...."

It appears no more information will be forthcoming from PSAdmin about this.

To date, to my knowledge, PS trade members Wolf/CBI (Wink) and Amanda Diamonds (Paul-A) have not posted specifics about the how and why of these latest business entities ... my takeaway is that Wolf/CBI and Amanda Diamonds were created so that they each could continue business operations while presumably the pending legal disputes are still being resolved.

Thanks! I did see that. Makes sense from a Pricescope / vendor perspective. My curiosity is more about HPD as a company from a branding perspective. The Wolf merger announcement from Wink in April made it seem that HPD brand will continue to exist, and that the Wolf showroom is now the “second HPD showroom”.

However, now the company seems to be completely under the Wolf umbrella. Also, the HPD website makes no mention of the merger or redirection to Wolf, so I wonder how consumers who don’t follow pricescope / side information would know about what has happened in relation to their buyback and upgrade eligibility.

Would be nice to get some definitive clarity even if that clarity is that they’ve pivoted their business strategy and have folded everything under one roof!

Happy to see that they’ve moving onward and upwards following the legal dispute though.
