I really like the flirty model one. Can I see some more handshots? It really emphasizes how GINORMOUS that pebble really is. The rock makes your hands look tiny. I''m so envious!

I know this one friend who has size 2.75 fingers and she has an ideal cut 1.25 RB. Boy, that ring looks like a boulder on her petite fingers.

seriously...the diamond is huge. sometimes i think wow it's a little silly looking on me. but of course that passes oh after a millisecond. hehee. but i think for everyday wear in a 'regular life' kind of scenario, aka we aren't fancy types at all, this is a good size for me. it's just big enough for me to *know* it's big, and it doesn't look too silly on my hand...or with non painted nails, or with jeans etc etc. of course i wouldn't turn down the 3c if it fell into my lap but i am really happy with this size and this stone in particular. i feel SO lucky that i was able to get this upgrade this year...i had to reprioritize a little to do it, but it was SO worth it. i mean who really needs new window shutters anyway?

and it feels like this stone was made for me. i actually have been wondering if i will ever upgrade to 3c lately for a few reasons, but maybe this stone would like 2 others to keep it company sometime in the future for a 3 stone instead. hehee.

i'll be waiting for your 2.33 to happen next year milly!!!

You know, I have been thinking about this A LOT since I read it earlier today. Sometimes I feel like my diamond is BIG, but I never think of it as *HUGE*, which is a total bummer. and sometimes, the darn thing seems to be shrinking right before my eyes!!!

(Apparently, I have diamond anorexia!) And I think there is a darn good possibility that this stone may very well be my forever diamond, simply because 3+ carat is so stinking expensive and I am a practical girl. (OK, you guys, quit laughing... come on, it''s not FUNNY!

I AM practical - I REALLY TRULY AM! Just ask my mother!!!!

Anyway, I just wanna see if Miss Mara''s stone continues to feel HUGE as the months pass! Following this saga QUITE closely...

leila, what i have on in that shot is that new Essie one I just got, called 'pink glove service', that is two coats, it's wonderfully sheer and slightly pink.

okay now, re Diamond Shrinkage!!! seriously it has not set in yet at all for me. which is interesting because after i got the 1.6c J ... it did start setting in right away, after about a week or two. but with this stone, it literally always looks big. not HUGE because that would be a 3c. but it's definitely BIG. even today when i was in BBB with my friend...i tried on a 3.10 i think was the weight, and my rock looked really big next to it. it was obviously not a 3c but it wasn't a slouch either. i thought that was pretty interesting. and this rock gives my hand alot of presence as well if that makes sense.

before i got my upgrade, i was freaking out one night to demelza about 'what if it doesn't look big enough'...because i spent a pretty penny to get this upgrade and i knew it had to last me. i was worried that i wasn't making a large enough jump and that i would be unhappy with the decision to upgrade (and not do something else with that cashola!!). she told me this and it stuck with me and i repeated it back to her the other night and told her she was SPOT ON RIGHT about this stone.

she told me that when she had her 1.5c it looked big sometimes but most of the time it looked smallish or not right or whatever. she was not really happy with it. but when she got her 2.32...it was big and it COULD always be bigger right? BUT that she NEVER looked at it and ever thought it was small or not big. she said she thought that would be the same for me. we have the same size fingers too.

so i thought okay that's interesting, so it really never looks small. hah. but that is TOTALLY how i feel about this stone. even just looking at it right now while typing this, i am like damn the stone is big. sure i would love a 3c or a 4c or that sweet 5c that WF had...but this stone is NOT SMALL. and i don't think it could ever be. knock on wood of course. but i think for me this is a real sweet spot. do i totally wish that i had been able to squeeze into a 2.5c J SI instead of a 2.3 to make it a little bigger? OF COURSE. but i'm really happy with this stone and it's a mega performer too, which makes it that much more special.

i mean of course, stay tuned to hear what i say in the future, you know it can always change with DSS! but i kind of feel like this feeling won't change...the feeling that sure i could always go bigger but it's not SMALL. i hope that feeling doesn't change because i really like it!!! hehee.

What do you say- um I got an upgrade or my hubby surprised me....Do strangers suddenly go ooh and aah at the supermarket check out. What has the reaction been. What do you tell people? Do you play it down or get into the detail? I''d love to know. Do people talk to you looking at your hand? I''m so curious.

I just love your ring. I have a feeling you may just get sentimental about this stone.

Hi Anika..thanks! I kind of am sentimental about it a little and am a little freaked to think about what multiple years will mean for it and me. hehee.

Well I didn''t really tell alot of people we were doing this...so not everyone knows. My parents know of course and they are like you are crazy...and some of my friends are like you are crazy, but a few other friends were like oh it''s sweet..and some still don''t even know. even some of the ones in our main group of friends don''t know. i figured i wouldn''t advertise it and be like oh i got a bigger rock! i figure if they notice and ask i will say something. i really do try to play things down because alot of them don''t even get diamonds and of course spending massive amounts upgrading is even more foreign! people always say why dont you get a new car instead? (my car is very old!!). and of course if i start ranting about how excellently cut it is or this or that people''s eyes just glaze over. so if people do ask i am just saying that greg got it for me as my 2 year anniversary gift.

it was funny because i have had one person notice on their own randomly...one of my dog owner friends, i hadn''t seen her in a few weeks and we were outside last week and i had my hand on my hip and she goes Miss Mara did you get a bigger diamond again. I was like YES...and she goes Portia your Momma is crazy. hahaha. I just thought that was so funny. and she hardly sees me so it''s funny she noticed. but I think I had mentioned to her last year I was hoping to upgrade this year so maybe she just put 2 and 2 together. but i was like WOW she noticed my ring! that means the rock is huge now! nothing like a little validation from others..hehee.

I totally agree with her, too. Before my upgrade, I had a 1.53 as well, and it would have never been enough for my forever ring. Now, of course I am shameless and still totally ASPIRE to a 3+ someday, but realistically, it may just never happen. And if it doesn't, well, that's OK... because I adore this 2.36 and I really do think I can be happy with it forever!
