Bliss-I''m sorry that AF is still taking forever! If you like the new OB would you mind posting her name? My current one has been fine for gyn but she''s awfully brusque and I do not like the other Drs in the practice at all, so I am thinking about switching...It sounds like a few months off might be a great thing for you and your DH to jsut enjoy eachother and continue to work through all the emotions that come the m/c.

Allie-Hope you feel better. I know this is totally crazy waiting for overdue AF.

Right now, I just keep telling myself HH was like 12 days late last month with AF (all BFN during that time) and got knocked up this month so who knows what goes on with our crazy bodies
20.gif

True, and there are women who thing they have AF when in fact they''re pregnant. I''m not saying that''s what happened to me, but being so late was extremely odd for me because I''ve always been like clockwork and I had no new stress, etc in my life last month. I suppose there''s a very small chance that I''m a lot further along than we thought I was (would certainly explain my symptoms), but I don''t think that''s really the case.

Lanie - Glad to hear you had a productive visit with the RE. You must be relieved to have some explanation. Let me know if you have any questions - sounded like you might have some when you mentioned it in the other thread over the weekend. Thanks for your kind thoughts there too.

LV! Thanks so much for responding! I''m thinking about you. How are you doing? I don''t think you''ve updated...understand if you aren''t in the mood to do so.
7.gif

My main question is that I had a normal gyno appointment before my RE appointment. My gyno gave me a prescription for Clomid and ordered an HSG. She didn''t do an ultrasound and didn''t even mention PCOS. My RE did NOT give me a prescription for Clomid...he said he wanted to see results from bloodwork, but thought that my problems are from anovulation.

So my question is...can you do Clomid and the HSG in the same cycle? I really want to do start up the Clomid this cycle, and then do the HSG later on. But if it''s possible to do both, I''ll do both. He ordered the HSG for around day CD7-13. She said to take Clomid on CD5. I''m scared an HSG would wash any ovulation away, but she said I''d ovulate between CD 10 and CD15 (assuming it works).

Does that make sense? I''m going to call the nurse regardless, but wondered if you had any ideas...

Did you discuss the Clomid with the RE? At this point, I would follow his advice exclusively and use your OB/GYN for routine care only. Is the RE planning to do any further testing or ultrasounds this month? If yes, he may well want to see what your ovaries look like (without medication) during the course of this cycle. My office did one evaluation cycle, where they did multiple ultrasounds, blood work, HSG, sono-HSG. After observing a normal cycle for me, the doctor made his recommendations.

Did they give you a plan for the month that includes other diagnostics? I know you are anxious to get started, but I would not take the Clomid without the RE's approval first (sounds like you are going to check with them first anyway.)

Your regular OB/GYN likely prescribed Clomid because this seems to be the first course of treatment offered by many OB/GYNs. Often (or so it seems from my limited reading), they do not do diagnostics first, they do not monitor while you are on the drug (meaning they do not do ultrasounds to measure follicle development, to see if the drug is even producing the desired effect) and/or they leave their patients on Clomid for a long time. Clearly, though, without diagnostics, monitoring, etc., many women do get pregnant on Clomid alone, so from a cost/benefit analysis, this type of treatment does make sense. It sounds like this is what your OB/GYN was trying to start. I have not researched PCOS thoroughly, so I do not know if Clomid alone is the recommended treatment.

I'd see what your RE has to say about the Clomid. I'm guessing he will say no, not because the HSG would affect the results, but because it would affect your initial diagnostics.

ETA: Do you know when you will get your blood work results?

*****

I'm doing ok. No new updates really. I have had zero spotting. I had some blood work this morning and am waiting to hear back re: whether my HCG level has gone down.

Lanie-Glad the RE was able to explain things and I hope that the nurses can confirm re CLomid/HSG.

I think AF may be showing up (she must have heard I was talking behind her back
2.gif
) it''s light but I think that''s what it is. So hopefully I will stop being an emotional b@#$h very soon and I can start this cycle (going for gold
3.gif
). if it is indeed AF then I will tell her to stop by your house too Bliss since we''re all in the city
9.gif

On that note, where is the cheapest place to order OPKs . I am too lazy to chart (plus my cycel is sually like clockwork, but since I didn''t get EWCF this cycle that I noticed (just tons of watery CF) I''d love to pin point ovulation a little better. I figure I''ll try it for a month or two and then progress to charting if that doesn''t work.

Allie and Bella- I still think at least one of you is preggo! Allie let us know what the doc says, they may have you POAS again or even do a blood test.

Inhisarms- Hi
35.gif
Welcome to the party!

Bliss- Thinking of you! I''m sure AF is just around the corner... Good luck with the new OB

Lanie- Yes! That''s me with the wacko cycles. I do use OPK''s but honestly they aren''t realiable for me. I get positives ALL the time. I do use the cheap strips because I am not ready to invest in a CBEFM or even the FRER OPK tests that are like $5 a piece. Maybe soon I will try some better ones and see what they read... That is really awesome that you saw an RE already. My regular OBGYN supposedly specializes in infertility also so he seems like he''ll be helpful soon. Since I have been using protection he wants me to come back after 3 months of real trying before we will look into my issues. I''m actually pretty excited about that because I can relax and TTC but hopefully I''ll get some answers soon as well. He did hint at Clomid for me too but I don''t know if he thinks I have PCOS. I don''t have any of the signs except acne and irregular cycles.

Icee- Being in the NICU must be so sad. I used to nanny for a girl who has Cerebral Palsy from a traumatic birth, up until birth she was a perfectly healthy baby so I know how quickly things can go wrong and there are no guarantees. I also work with kids with Autism now so being so involved in the special needs community so I have become a little paranoid that these things will happen to my baby. It just feels more common to me than it really is. The good news is that my exposure to these kids has actually made me a little more comfortable that I could have and love a child that has special needs.

Loves Vintage- Thinking of you. Hope that HCG has gone down.

Hope I didn''t forget anyone!

Oh Bella that sucks! I buy cheap OPK strips from Walgreens they are the generic version of the Answer brand OPK strips. Although I get a lot of positives and while it''s probably because of my screwy cycles and hormonal issues it might also be that they are so cheap. Also I think from TCOYF watery CM is still considered fertile and I would guess if you are getting lots of it that can be a good thing...

Bella -- www.early-pregnancy-tests.com I think that''s the website...they are super cheap and they deliver them FAST. Also, try Amazon.

Mia -- I didn''t think I had PCOS either. I have mild acne, but I''m pretty thin. But definitely irregular cycles. Not saying you have it, just saying that I didn''t think I fell into the major symptoms of it.

Congrats Cara and Hudson, I missed your announcements earlier! And Kit too I see!

Hi Laine
35.gif

So good to hear your RE apt went well!! Hope you dont mind if I jump in, but from my experience, my OBGYN had ordered a HSG and if everything was okay, I would start Clomid the following cycle. I asked her if I could start Clomid the same cycle as HSG and she told me no because the HSG + Clomid can thin out the uterine lining too much thus making implantation less likely- thefore she said its kind of like a wasted cycle of clomid. I have heard of people doing both the same cycle though. Either way HSG does increase your chances of getting KU for the following 3 cycles! Wish you lots of luck!!

Loves Vintage,

I''ve not ventured to the early preggo thread, but after seeing comments to you here, I did. Man, I''m so sorry. I do hope you have much support around you, as I imagine that''s the best blessing you need right now. I''m thinking of you and your hubs, and hoping that you''re back with us soon, when you''re ready. Hold to the promise that you can get pregnant, and hold that close. Lots of hugs to you!

****
Cara,

I think we''re planning to go through the Post Office and avoid all the mailing of vital records; seems kind of scary (to us) to put things like that in the mail. So, I need to call and make an appointment for that. (Although, I read on Royal''s website that a passport is not required for domestic travel, which includes leaving from the US, going to Mexico or the Caribbean and then returning to the US, doesn''t require a passport. Can that be right? Seems like we''d need one. Besides, I was looking forward to a stamp on the thing!!)

Going for Gold, I love it!

Wow this has been an active thread today. Let''s see...

Allie and Bella, where the heck are your periods?!?! Um, the suspense is killing me so I can understand why you''re a little emotional. Bliss is right, it ain''t over till the fat lady named Flo sings! Hang in there you two. BabydustBabydustBabydustBabydustBabydustBabydust!

And, yes the early pregnancy tests website is the best. I get the combo OPK and pregnancy test packs (the strips), very affordable. The pregnancy tests are good, very sensitive with the pink dye. They also sell all kinds of other stuff including pre-seed.

Bliss, that AF of yours is so sassy! She had better pull her act together and show. Good luck on finding a new Dr.!

Lanie, that''s great about your first RE visit! Sounds like you are making major progress. I hope the treatments work for you asap!

LV, hope you are doing okay. (((HUGS)))

Dreamer, thanks!

Dcgator, yup me too! I have lived in the DC area for almost 8 years, which is unreal when I think about it. NoVA for most if it. Speaking of TTC, have you heard good things about Arlington Hospital Center for maternity? I chose my OB somewhat based on her affiliation to that hospital. Just wondering if you''d gotten into that whole thing yet.

Icekid, I''m sorry you don''t like Charm City...my sister and her fam just moved to North Baltimore and they are loving it. At least the cost of living is cheaper than DC. Where would you like to be ideally?

********************

Nothing new with me, I POAS this morning and the line was extremely dark--reassuring. Am waiting to hear back the results from my hCG test on Friday. Fingers crossed for an in-range beta number.

Allie and Bella - I still think at least one of you is pregnant.

I had bad cramping last night (woke me up). I was sure AF would be there this morning - but no, my temp went up. However, I would think that 12 DPO is a little late for implantation. Today is cycle day 33.

If you ladies haven''t looked through FF yet, I think you should look at This Study Allie - I went back and looked at your chart and you could be as little as 13 dpo which means you could still get a BFP. Keep the faith until AF shows!!

Fisher - You don''t need a passport doing a round trip US port. Keep in mind, however, that it''s just for sea travel that you don''t need it. So heaven forbid you need to fly from Mexico (miss the ship, have a medical emergency, etc) you WILL need a passport for air travel. So if you''re going to get a passport one of these days eventually you should go ahead and get it before your trip for the peace of mind. Here is the link for Cruise Critic, it''s a great resource. Oh, and you won''t get a stamp on your passport. I think on certain cruise lines you can opt to leave your passport with the purser and they''ll have the authorities stamp it when they clear the ship, but I''ve never tried it. We''ve only had our passports stamped when in port once, and that was Russia!

Good luck going for the gold ladies (I love it!)

We''re still in try outs.

Hello ladies :) still no AF but had another temp drop. If it''s not coming today then for sure tomorrow. I am excited for CD1. I am also excited to have a Valentines day BFP :) It would be a wonderful present. If we get our BFP this month, I don''t think we will be telling anyone for at least 8-12 weeks. I would like to wait it out till I am out of the first trimester. How is everyone doing today?

Allie -- sorry about the temp drop. BUT you will be officially trying for February anyway, so I think it was all meant to be.

Lucy -- thanks for responding! And thanks for the wishes...I hope you are doing fine and your little bub is growing nice and healthy!

Kit -- thanks! I''m keeping my fingers crossed for your hCG test as well!

Yes, definitely. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason! I can''t wait!

Hi Kit,

Woohoo for local NoVA ladies
9.gif
I have been in DC for about four years, and NoVa the last two. Time does seem to fly by here though, I agree.

As to your question about hospitals, yes, I have already done my research on them. My OBGYN was located in MD, as I used to live up there. After my last visit to my in December, I learned that they didn''t have any privildges for hospitals in the District or in NoVA, so I began to look for a new Dr./hosptial. In my research, I looked at a number of hospitals from MD to NoVA. I was mainly focused on ones that had NICU''s on site, as well as looking for different reviews. I narrowed my search down to Dr.''s who work at Virginia Hospital Center and GW. I saw doctors that had been recommended by friends who worked at both those places and ended up choosing a Dr./practice that was actually located inside the Arlington Hospital Center.

That being said, I have heard pretty good things at the Maternity Center at Arlington Hospital Center. As long as your like your OBGYN, I would say stick with it. If you are not happy, I can give you the info on the practice I am going to.

Sorry, correction...

I saw doctors that had been recommended by friends who worked at both those places and ended up choosing a Dr./practice that was actually located inside the Virginia Hospital Center.

It's not over 'til it's over, ladies!

But hopefully, we'll all have BFPs in the next several months! 2010 is the year!

I can't wait to join you again. Hopefully around April or May, we'll start TTC again. I can't believe how time flies.

*dust*

Yep-AF is definitely here and not being very nice I might add
14.gif
but I am excited to be starting a new cycle and think a Valentines Day BFP would be amazing!!! Hope that we have a lot of those here in Feb. January isn''t over either, so someone might come out of the woodwork with another BFP this month, bringing mama Bliss''s prediction to life:-)

Okay I am really starting to get mad! I am talking sternly to my uterus! C''mon AF, a spot? anything? Where the frick are you? Get your ass home!

Bella, I am hoping I am going to be that next BFP... AF is supposed to be here Friday and no sign of her yet, but also I am not feeling all that different either.. (.)(.) a little sore but not horrible still. I am keeping my fingers crossed that I will not see AF for another 9/10 months!!!

lots of dust coming your way jena!!!

Cara and HH--
A late congrats but yay for BFPs.
Lots of sticky dust and hoping you have a smooth 9 months.

IceKid, InHisArms, Bella--
8.gif
sorry AF showed her ugly face.
The good news is that you''ll be in good company this next cycle for those Feb BFPs.

Allie and Jena17--
Lots of baby dust to you both.
Hoping to see 2 BFPs by the end of this week.

Fisher--
Congrats on your 3rd anniv.
And cruising is the way to go
2.gif
-- so relaxing and you get so pampered.
I haven''t been on Carnival myself, but heard that it is a "fun" ship (and that''s what they boast too).
So you''ll find more of the party-going crowd there.
I went on Celebrity and loved them -- great service and food

Lots of dust to Allie and Jena...

I hope that AF stays away and you get a happy BFP instead.

Allie - I have been reading a lot about the no period and negative HPT today. I would say that if you don''t get AF and/or a negative HPT by next week, it might be worth having a blood test to confirm pregnancy or not. Just a thought...

Bella - Sorry that AF is being a PITA, but that just means you are closer to getting KU in the coming weeks
9.gif

Awww. Bella, I''m so sorry. That sucks. So tough to bear after hoping. (HUGS) Booo!!!
Sorry to all the amazing ladies who got AF this month... On the other hand, maybe you''re going to get a Valentine''s baby! How great would that be?

Allie and Jena...hang in there!!! Allie, do you still have veiny (*)(*)?

*dust*

Lanie--
Personally, I'd hold off the clomid until after the HSG.
No point in wasting the clomid if your tubes are blocked.
Also, there is a 3 day pelvic rest (so unless you are scheduled for test on CD7 and you ovulate on CD10), so you might miss the window.

I think you ladies are PREGGO. I just do.

I remember the day before I got my BFP, I was on here bemoaning my BFN. You just neeeeveeer know! I remember Pandora told me that it ain''t over until it''s over. And she was right! Where is Pandora? She has a crazy intuition we could maybe tap into this week!

I''m holding to my 4* this month!!!!!

LOL!

All I can say is that:
- it isn''t a temp drop if it''s above the coverline
- it ain''t over till AF shows
