The Official TTC Thread!

So happy for you Al!!!!!! Lots of sticky dust to you and P!!!!!

Congrats Alli

congrats Alli!

anyone use the Clearblue Easy Fertility Monitor? I was just reading about it online and it looks interesting and something that would fit with my lifestyle. when the alarm clock rings I get up right away to get on the treadmill so temperature reading isn''t for me. nor is peeing on OPK sticks in the middle of the day because I constantly drink tea and there is no way I am going to hold in my pee for 4 hours. so this thing which allows me to get up and use my morning urine sounds ideal. I just didn''t realize it was so expensive. I am willing to buy it, but first wanted to check anyone else''s experience with it and to make sure I''m not throwing my money away. by the way, can you buy it any drugstore or do you have to order it?

Allie - Congratulations!!

What wonderful news!! Enjoy every moment of this perfectly blissful time!

Noel - I have the Clear Blue Easy. A bunch of us here do. It is often abbreviated as CBEM or CBFM. I purchased mine new through eBay and got the best deal there. There have been recent discussions about the monitor on here, and I know others are actively using, so I'll let them chime in. I've never really had a chance to use mine because I purchased it the same month that the RE started monitoring me. It is expensive, as are the sticks that you purchase separately, but it is supposed to be the best. You can also re-sell on eBay to recoup some of your initial cost. The used ones were selling for $80-ish if I remember correctly.

Going back a few pages to catch up on replies.

lurkinglurker - That's great that your doctor is being proactive and doing some initial bloodwork. Let us know if you have any questions.

Po - I was wondering where you had gone. I hope this is your month!! Did you also temp this month? Wondering if your temps are consistent with your CBFM reading?

Lanie -

Hope you find some of that info useful!

Gongjoo - Thank you for your helpful advice re: acupuncture and the Chinese herbs. Hoping my herb order arrives today!!

Bliss - You are hilarious! Thanks for bringing some much needed humor to us TTC'ers!!

Have a great day everyone!!

Thank you for all the warm wishes. It hasn''t really sunk in yet. DH and I just keep looking at one another and giggling! If you don''t mind I would like to stick around here for a little while, until I am ready to move onto the preggy boards!

Oh! I never knew. I saw the letters C and M in there and thought people were talking about different types of CM! I''ll go back in this thread and see if I can find.

Congrats Ali!!!

noel -- I have it and I like it. It is expensive and make sure you have enough sticks so you don''t run out (like I did a couple of days ago). I still haven''t gotten a peak, and this is my second cycle (or I guess one and a half). I had read that getting a peak takes awhile, BUT Po got hers with her first cycle so that might not be true. Who knows? Have you gotten AF since the miscarriage noel? I think about all of you ladies.

Allie!!!!!! We''d love to keep you for a little while. Maybe you can spread around a little BFP juju

How did you tell DH?

Noel- I am considering the Clearblue Easy as well if we don''t get knocked up this month. If I recall correctly, Ebree used it but temping seems to be more popular around here.

Bella- I''m feeling MUCH more at peace! Most likely, my "make it happen" Type A personality did not groove with this whole TTC thing. But I''m feeling much better now. Plus, I''ve been doing a fab job at loosing my stress pounds lately, so it would be fabulous to get them off before trying to lose weight is off the board.

CDN- I think a one-bedroom is doable. It sounds like a lot of people keep the baby in the same room at the beginning anyway. We have two bedrooms, but I suspect it''s easier to get up during the night with the kid nearby.

Anyone else SUPER excited for the Olympics??? The Winter Games are my favorite. I am (was?) a figure skater and my whole family is hockey-obsessed! Crossing my fingers that work is not too bad so I can watch as much as possible.

Allie!! Congratulations, dear! :) STICKY BEAN VIBES!!!!!!

And hello
35.gif
to everyone else! I have been mostly lurking lately (really busy at work), but I''ve been keeping up with what''s going on!! Hope everyone is feeling well today.

I''m pretty sure I O''ed somewhere around CD 17 (a couple days ago)...I had my telltale sore bb''s, and EWCM. I wasn''t able to temp accurately because Monday and Tuesday I was on ER night shifts, so my longest period of sleep ended up being during the day on Tuesday and Wednesday so I didn''t temp until then. I was below coverline in my typical pre-O temp range on Monday morning, then on Tuesday afternoon and Wednesday afternoon I was in my post-O range (which also correlated very well with the EWCM and the sore bb''s!) and this morning, while I temped at 7am instead of my usual 5am, I am still in post-O range, so I think it happened!
36.gif
We aren''t trying this month, but it is nice to know I''ve had my 1st post-miscarriage eggie!

Gotta run....love to everyone and SWIM for the gold, little guys!! Even tho it''s the winter olympics, I think we should institute our own event...."The Million Man Freestyle" perhaps?? Winner takes all!!
9.gif

Well I wasn''t planning on testing until I was closer to 14DPO, which fell on valentines day. I had it all planned out, I bough a onesie that said "I love my Daddy" I was going to wrap it up with the pee stick. Well I am so impatient that I tested way early. I am in the bathroom and he comes knocking on the door being all like "what are you doing" so I said "pooping, go away" lol. He went out to shovel and I peed on the digital. Was like NO WAY this will come up preggy. Sure enough...it does. I am so giggly at this point...he walks back upstairs and is all "what are you giggling about" finally I went back downstairs with the onesie and said "P, do you want to see what I got for our future baby?" he looked at the onesie and goes "nice", so I said "do you think our baby will look cute wearing it? Because we are having one...in 9 months" and showed him the test. He was shocked! We hugged and giggled. I immediately started blaming things on the baby! "The baby doesn''t like what you have on TV"

He said goodnight to our little "Pumpkin Seed" :)

Lanie - no, I am still waiting for AF. it''s been little over 3 weeks since the "official" m/c so I think it''s still too soon to expect her. I''m traveling next week and will buy the CBFM there. don''t know what I will do if AF starts next week because it will mess up the testing when I go back home and there is an 8 hour difference so it won''t be first morning urine. but I''ll be happier if she does show up than if she doesn''t.

Allie - your hubby sounds like a sweetie. poor him that the baby doesn''t like his TV programs
3.gif

:) he really is a sweety. I am hoping to a sticky sticky bean. Please keep us in your thoughts if you can!

yay Allie, what a cute way to tell your DH:-) You''d better stick around for a while, you''re captain of team gold, you have to stay here until at least the end of your first tri (you can pop into other threads too, but we need you:-)

Ice, I''m glad that you are feeing more at peace! (and congrats on loosing those stress pounds, mine are stubbornly sticking around

)

Noelwr-Lots of people really like that moniter, hope it works for you! how are you doing?

Houie-Good to "see" you sorry work is so stressful.

Congratulations Alli

Thank you girls, I feel so welcome in this tread.

I try not to visit that often because I don''t want to get to excited. I''m 3 days away of my period day and I''m just so nervous. I can not wait to see what is going to happen.

ALLIE! What a cute story!!!! I agree with Bella - you''re captain of Team Gold! You must pop in and out until all the Gold babies are conceived!
36.gif
I laughed out loud when the part of your story when you told DH, "I''m pooping, go away." That was so funny! And so cute! And funny!

icekid, glad you''re feeling at peace! Me, too. Even though I think about it so much, the energy is completely different this time. I''m excited about the Olympics, too!

OMG, HOU! So glad you popped in! YAY for your O!!!! I am still waiting to O! Maybe I''ll have an anovulatory cycle this month! It''s CD 19 and no O, but random EWCM here and there. Ahhhhhhh.... Maybe I am a very late ovulator!

noelwr, 3 weeks is still early to worry yet! I waited a long time for AF! I hope you get AF when you want her to - right on schedule!

BELLA! What''s up? Glad to see you here today! DH is back in town tonight (super late) and now that I haven''t had the O temp spike, not sure what to do...
31.gif
I''ll check later to see if the EWCM stuck around. So confusing! I''m a late ovulator, so I''m sure this is par for the course. But the random CF is definitely new. Very odd, but I am expecting odd this month!

DUST DUST DUST to you all!

Awe thanks girls I am definitely sticking around to see how many more players will be on "team gold" this month! How is everyone doing? Bella you must be getting near the end of the TWW?

WOOOHOOO, so exciting!

Yeah for Allie, way to start off the Olympics, lol.

May you have a very sticky bean!

Just had to pop in and ask which thermometer you ladies are using?

I have three! LOL - but the latest is the Walgreens BBT thermometer which got great recommendations here. Well, I''ve been having flat temps for the past several days using it which is puzzling. Fertility Friend told me it was the thermometer so I looked up reviews and apparently the OLD Walgreens BBT was awesome but the new one has horrible reviews!
23.gif

So I guess I have to toss it and start over. Any recommendations? I''ve heard the BD BBT Accu-Beep is good.

Po: Lots of sticky dust to you!

Lurking: Love the idea of a vacay baby. Hopefully it''ll happen then.

Bliss: I wouldn''t count you out yet. Your DH is back Thursday, right? I think there''s still time. By the way, I meant to tell you I love the name Colette. My first Cabbage Patch doll was names Colette Mae and I have had a soft spot for it since.
5.gif
I have a crazy long list of favourite names for girls. If we have one, it''ll be interesting to see how we narrow it down.

Alli: This one might be it! Sending you positive thoughts!

DCgator: Happy belated birthday! There''s nothing like being snow-bound and having events like birthday sand Valentine''s to put people in the mood to ''celebrate''.
27.gif

Bella: hope you got home safe. It was pretty sloshy as I made my way home.

*****************
Question for those ladies currently living in single bedroom apartments/condos. What are your thoughts on staying in that one-bedroom for a few months after birth or are you planning on moving to a bigger space prior? Our lease isn''t up until August but it''s something I''m starting to think about. I''d prefer to stay where we are but I''m wondering if I''m kidding myself that we can make it work.
Thanks for the birthday wishes!

As for the apartment chat, I think a one bedroom would be ok, so long as you have the space for the crib and changing table. If you don''t want to move, then stay where you are. We all know how hard it is to find an affordable place you love in the big cities! Deal with a move once the baby is out and running around...

And I also must comment on the CPK''s (Cabbage Patch Kids). I totally had a couple when I was younger too. I loved them! I think I had a girl names Emily Grace and a boy named Caleb Xavier. Crazy how you remember those names. I think the funny thing is that they are bringing all these old school toys back. You can still buy CPK''s and My Little Ponies and Strawberry Shortcakes (all my fav''s). Too funny!

Charbie: Congrats on the EWCM. I O''ed my first month off BC too. It''s amazing how our bodies remember to do what they are supposed to! That being said, I hope you don''t get any side effects. I have been having massively annoying headaches the past week and my only deduction is that its b/c of the lack or chemicals from BC pills. Although my body seems to be getting back on track, it is NOT appreciating the lack of estrogen from pills. Oh well, I prefer the regular periods with headaches than irregular periods and no headaches...

Are you going to DTD now and possibly get KU this month or you going to avoid peak time until later months? I am undecided...

****
HouMedGal: Congrats on the O''ing. I know that''s a huge step, so YEAH!

****
Gaby06: Lots of sticky dust for you! Let us know when you decide to test. I wish you a BFN for Valentine''s Day. What a great way to celebrate the holiday

Bliss: Perhaps God got your message...Good luck tonight and maybe you can welcome your hubby home properly
31.gif

Bliss - Are you temping with more than one thermometer per morning? If yes, are they producing the same temps? Your Walgreen's thermometer may well be as good as any. I am not familiar with the reviews on it. I know many people have a preference for the ones that beep repeatedly vs. not, or the ones that take temps down to two decimal levels.

This one beeps every 6 seconds, which I rather liked. I had used another one, which I would think I had turned on, and would discover some 60 seconds later had never been properly turned on. Grrr.

I know you are very concerned about ovulating this month. Have you considered trying an OPK? You can use this in conjunction with temping to see if your charting matches up to a positive OPK test. You should get a positive 24 hours before you ovulate, so you will get some advance notice, and then if your temps line up, you will have confirmed ovulation.

Congrats ambulance92!

Congrats Alli! So cute how you told your DH!

I know I didn't post here while TTC baby #2 (I was actually one of the original posters on this thread TTC baby #1) but can I join team gold? We just found I'm pregnant with baby #2 last week and we're so excited!

That makes three of us so far for team gold. Anyone else?

Here are the details of how I found out I'm pregnant - after having 5 negative pregnancy tests I really thought I wasn't!

I found out through a blood test. DH and I are so happy and SHOCKED! It feels surreal! Even though we've been trying the last few months and my period was 3 weeks late, I really thought I wasn't pregnant this time around because I had 5 negative pregnancy tests! Turns out I took them all too early. Finally, I decided to just go in for a blood test so I could definitely know if I was or wasn't. I prepared myself for a negative and was completely shocked when I heard I was pregnant! Apparently I ovulated 2-3 weeks after I thought I did. Didn't even know it was possible to ovulate a month after your period and get pregnant! I'm shocked we got pregnant during a time we weren't trying. We only BD'ed once around the time of ovulation! No laying down after either. I got up right after and went to the bathroom.

I wanted to share my story with all of you. Proof that it can happen when you least expect it! Lots of luck to those TTC! I know that it's a stressful time. Hang in there! I know you'll get your BFPs soon!

Snlee Congratulations :)

I just picture all of the spermies coming in for a huddle and breaking the huddle with a good "gooooooo team gold!"

The month is not even half way over and we have three on the team already. I can''t wait to see what the other two weeks bring.

How exciting! You must have been so surprised!?!?!? So how many days after your last home pregnancy test did you have the blood test? When you got your last negative home test, how days post ovulation do you think you were?

ha-ha Bliss, I think you know exactly what to do tonight
31.gif

Hope you find a thermometer that works for you! maybe OPKs would be helpful for the rest of the month...

congrats Snlee, welcome aboard (though it''s kind of backward that you''re re-joinging the TTC thread after you are knocked-up

Thanks ladies!

LV, I got a blood test done 6 days after my last negative HPT. I am guessing I was about 12-14 DPO when I got a negative. When I took the blood test, my beta level was around 160. It doubles every 2 days so I was only at around 20 the day I took the last HPT. By that calculations, it makes sense the HPT was negative, especially considering it takes longer for hCG to build up and make its way into your urine.

Blimey Charlie, I don''t post for a day or two and look what''s happened, there''s bfp''s flying everywhere.

Congratulations Allie, am thrilled for you, is it going to be a halloween baba?

And you too Snlee...........wishing you both lots of sticky wee bean dust!

********************************

I''ve not been temping, just using the CBFM and I am finding it so far, really good. Its really easy and straightforward and suits me better as the temping thing would drive me up the wall. The only problem I have is trying to hold on long enough to open the wee packets as I use fmu however it''s all about that pelvic floor. Unfortunately my cat comes into the loo with me in the morning and he thinks I''m opening treats and sits patiently with big eyes only to be sent packing when he realises it''s not a meaty treat - bless.

I don''t feel any different so I''m guessing I''m not pg, but then, I''ll know for sure in 10 days or so.

Hope you''re all temping, charting, and bd''ing like bunnies cos 2010 is the year of the PSBabies.

Allie Congrats!! Sticky bean dust your way sista!

Snlee, congrats to you too,
36.gif
though your story makes me nervous! Ha! I''m still Periodless In Seattle over here with 5 negative tests from the last 2 weeks in the garbage!

We weren''t trying, so that''s why it makes me nervous.

I have an appt on the 22nd, we shall see if we share the same weird cycle story I guess!

Allie- Your DH sounds like such a doll! Have you been having any revealing symptoms thus far?? Sticky thoughts for you!

Bella- I am working out like CRAZY! It''s time to get this weight business taken care of (so I can get a cute baby belly

gaby- GOOD LUCK!

HMG- So glad to hear that your cycle are getting back on track. It''s only a matter of time before you''re back in the ''game''

snlee- Congrats on #2. The Gold Club has some fab members already
