The Official TTC Thread!

dcgator, thanks for the thoughts and good luck with your marathon. I hope the bfps are contagious too!

Kunzite, congrats again..if you don''t mind answering, I''m curious if you were convinced after the faint 10dpo test or did you confirm right away with an early response test? It''s somewhat encouraging that you didn''t have any symptoms.

Well they are from starbucks but they are those bottles of cold frapps you can buy at the grocery store :) after today maybe I won''t have to worry, went home a little early because I was so lightheaded. Although I''m not getting my hopes up, day 1 of o was today and it''s been about 4 days since we bd-ed. I have a feeling it is just my body getting used to the prenatals. Ya never know though :) I''m just really looking forward to a soccer game on wednesday for right now :)

I''ve read that drinking coffee really decreases your chances of conceiving. I''ve read you shouldn''t drink any at all and also that a few cups are ok. I generally drink only 1 cup, 2 cups if it the day just seems to draaaaaaaaag on (today I had 2 cups
7.gif
). Just wondering what the general consensus is here or what you''ve all heard.
If you look hard enough, you''ll find a thousand and one things they say will keep you from getting pregnant but I bet you can find a thousand and one mom''s who will say they did every item on the "do not do" list and still fell pregnant.

Have you started charting yet? It seems like that is the best place to start.

Have you visited your OB yet? I had to see mine to have my BC removed and she did a battery of pre-conception testing to make sure I am not a carrier for any genetically passed diseases. Plus, I wanted to have a check-up to be sure everything seemed normal and that my PAP was normal as well. I also have a record of exactly when I began TTC - in my state this is essential to have as most insurance companies won''t cover any fertility testing until you have documented that you have tried for a year and have not been able to become pregnant.

As Pup and HH suggested, start simple and if simple isn''t working move onto trying to figure out why.

Good luck!

I have no idea what the caffeine count is in those, but I''d honestly be more concerned about the calorie count long term. Believe me, if you don''t end up with morning sickness the hormones make you just PACK on weight. I swear it''s karma getting back at you for being one of the blessed few who escape the horrors of the first trimester.

And reading into every little thing is going to drive you bonkers. Give yourself a cycle or two to get the hang of your body and how it acts at different times of the month. How long have you been off BCPs and are you charting? I used a basic calendar method (I''ve always had very regular periods of about 30 days in length). When we were trying we used this method. Starting around day 12 and until day 16 we BD''d every other day. I had been off BCPs for ages, like 2 years before we started TTC so before then it was TTA via the calendar/hail mary method. When we were TTA we avoided sex during the window of D12-D16. Anyway, we got pregnant the first month trying using the method above.

The two week wait is agony.

I've been off birth control since July! i actually had a visit with my doctor about problems I was having with the birth control and had her see if everything was in order down there in one shot. She said everything was fine but I'm not on any bc because it made my blood pressure shoot up and gave me migraines. We've basically been tracking to AVOID pregnancy (I know i know) and so far it has worked. Not that we would have been terribly upset if we had gotten pregnant before, it just would have been a bit harder for us to get to the place we are now.

I am pretty convinced it was the prenatals that made me feel like crap before, I just wolfed down a sloppy joe and feel a little better.

eta: I did my research, I am on day 1 of ovulation
9.gif

What do you mean, day one of ovulation smurfy? You only ovulate for one day out of the month.

Omigosh mondays are SO not my day of the week. I meant I ovulate on thursday, but today marks my first fertile day
I should just go to bed lol

Oh, that makes sense.

Smurfy--how are you tracking ovulation? Bc yesterday you said you were starting to ovulate as well...??? First step is pinpointing it otherwise you''ll stress out over what you think is your 2ww when it might not be.

Try taking your prenatals before bed. It can really help to cut down on upset stomach.

this is probably tmi but i just kind of guessed by what my physical signs were at the time, then i went back to my old friendly tracking calendar, checked the numbers and reassessed what was happening

have i mentioned that i am terrible at all things math and charting? lol

Hi Everyone!
35.gif
Thank you so much for all of the Congrats! I really hope this little one sticks it out for the long haul!

CDNinNYC, Noel, Miscka, HudsonHawk, brightlight, Gaby06, LucyLucy, Keepingthefaith21, Thank you for your kind thoughts!

Allie, Yay for the CBE digital OPKs! I agree with you about the smiley faces!
1.gif
It is just way too cute and so exciting to see it!

Laila, Thank you! So happy to be joining my TTC-sister! As I mentioned in the other thread, I'm 10 or 11 DPO today. I was 8 or 9 DPO when I first tested and when I got the positive cheapie internet and nice CVS digi. Let's keep hoping for rising beta levels . . .

Lanie, Yes, shocked would be a good way to describe it!! To answer your question, I have no symptoms whatsoever. It is really early, so I am not troubled by that at all. Sorry for slamming your friend Eva! Haha! That's why I said I'm sure there are benefits that I wasn't aware of! Oh, and I totally didn't know I could program her on CD3, like Noel pointed out. Oh well. I'm not one for reading instruction booklets! Oops!

Kunzite, Nice progression of tests! Reminds me of myself last month, except there were a lot more tests!!
26.gif
Thanks for posting the photo. It's helpful for newbies to see how light that second line can be.

Bella, I didn't really notice a difference with the pre-seed!
6.gif
I'd suggest trying a smaller dose and see what you think. Also, I have the same Instead that Allie posted. I think it was Lindsey who suggested putting a little pre-seed in the Instead prior to inserting. If I am remembering correctly, she is another Instead success story. I did not use pre-seed in the Instead this time around. I highly recommend practicing inserting the Instead a few times beforehand, just so you have a comfort level in advance. Hopefully, you won't need any of this advice, and you will have a BFP soon!

Icekid!!! Thank you! Very happy to be joining you! I knew it would happen sooner or later too, but the WAITING, guh!?!

Catluver, Nope, no symptoms whatsoever, and I was SO NOT expecting it! I was fairly certain it would not happen naturally, but I kept thinking to myself "you never know."

RyanClaire, Thank you! My acupuncturist is thrilled! I e-mailed her the news today, couldn't wait until Saturday. I am going to try to enjoy this time, despite my prior experience. I had a mini-freak-out today when I got my HCG results (50), but I am going to just go with it and see what my numbers look like next week. I hope your cycle gets corrected soon. It really hit home for me how long your cycle is when you posted your chart, it was different to see it vs. just reading the number. Keep us posted and enjoy your treatments!

Swimmer!!! Thank you! I too wonder if the drugs have some residual effect. Maybe? I'm happy with the timing too! The past few days in New England were wretched, and it wasn't even that hot. Anyway, see you in the prego thread soon!
35.gif

Fisher, I KNOW! It was a shocker for sure! Thank you for your kind comments. I will definitely be sticking around. Even though I did not post much last cycle, I had to fight myself not to on some occasions. I really do love this thread. It has been a great support to me.

DCGator!!! Awww, thank you. Yes, last month was the worst for me. It makes this all the more sweet, though. Thank you for your well wishes. Hope this is your BFP month too!

Charbie, Thank you! I have NO IDEA what we did differently. This was my 4th month of acupuncture, but I hesitate to attribute it to that alone. I did some meditation to help me relax more, but it was not consistent at all. Maybe 8 times total. Honestly, I think it was just random. The nurse did say it would be possible for us to conceive naturally. The cycle was canceled because the presence of the cysts would have made it difficult for multiple follicles to grow, but I guess there was room for just one! Oh, and in case anyone was wondering, I did not take the special Chinese "infertility drugs". I brought those back to my acupuncturist.

Sweetlime, How often do you go for acupuncture? For how long have you been going? I missed my first visit after I ovulated this cycle, so I've been going once a week since early-February. The cost can really add up! I was thinking of reducing my visits to 2X per month before the bfp. Now, I have to consider whether I will continue to go or not. I wish you much luck. I know it is not easy. I was going to chime in about the ovulating by citing Lanie's experience, so I'm glad she chimed in herself!

Caitlin, Thank you. Glad to hear that you and your DH are on the same page as your RE regarding IVF. DRK conceived through IVF and now posts in the Newborn thread. She may not check in here still, but if you start a new thread, if you have any questions or just want to talk, I'm sure she'll be happy to help.

Lili!! Thank you! Are you officially TTC'g? Maybe if you try acupuncture, you can have some GuaSha too!

luvinlife, Aww, thanks for your super-kind post! Yes, last month was the absolute worst! I guess I conveyed that adequately, huh.
3.gif
But, you are right. I will try to enjoy every minute.

So, I just hope this teeny-tiny little bean has all of his or her chromosomes lined up properly and is set to camp out for the next 8 months. I hope, I hope, I hope!

CatLuver - I don''t mind answering at all! No, I didn''t believe it. I was slightly hopeful, but by this time I''d been travelling all week and I was slightly loopy anyway. When I got another really faint line the next morning I still wondered if I was seeing things. That''s when I HAD TO HAVE a FRER or I would have gone crazy

50mg isn''t that high. You have some wiggle room, so it could still work. Don''t despair!!! And if Clomid doesn''t, they''ll find something that does!
thanks for the encouragement Lanie!

LV, I went to my acupuncturist about once a week in February/March. I didn''t go at all this month because I was just tired of all the endless number of u/s + acupuncture appts and I was missing too much work. but now i''m wondering whether i didn''t ovulate this cycle because i stopped the acupuncture? i''m gonna resume my regular appointments for my next cycle and just hope for the best!

They should really come up with something cutesie for those pregnancy tests besides the "Pregnant" and "Not Pregnant"

"Pee again in a few days"
"Better luck next month"
"Your Eggo is Preggo"

Agreed! I would totally use tests that said "Knocked Up"!

The very first test I took was one that said YES or NO. I got ? for an answer.

Smurfy-you might want to give fertilityfriend.com a shot to help you with charting.

Hehe, I love and use ''knocked up'' all the time.

I didn''t even know "?" was an option!

Maybe tests should say things like a magic 8 ball: Signs point to yes, Reply hazy-try again, Outlook good, Outlook not so good...

Hi everyone-

I used to be a somewhat regular contributor on Pricescope a few years back, but life got me busy!

Now my husband and I are thinking about starting to TTC in August (our 2-year anniversary), and I needed support and didn't really know where to turn. I'm a little nervous, really excited, and just a touch scared.

Some quick background, I was on Depo (the Shot) for about 9 years until November, during which time I had no period. Then I switched to NuvaRing to regularize my cycle and get on something less severe. My cycle is now seems to be regular and I think I'm going to stop birth control altogether in July to see how my body reacts before we "officially" start trying. I don't know if I'm ovulating (or even if I do on NuvaRing) and if I am, when? Should I not even worry until I'm totally off birth control?

This thread has been tremendously informative, but for a "newbie" I'm not really sure what I need to do now, and in the months leading up to trying. What do you think is necessary for me to do? Any tips or suggestions or recommendations (for now and when we actually start trying) would be HIGHLY appreciated!

35.gif

Thanks all!

Scarlet, welcome back! If you don''t have it already, the book Taking Charge of Your Fertility Is a great jumping off point.

Hi Scarlet!
35.gif
I remember you
1.gif

I second HHs suggestion for TCOYF. Also I don''t think you should be ovulating on the ring. Various sources site various lengths of time after hormonal BC for return to regular cycles, but just know that if you stop in July, Aug. may still not be your "normal" cycle if that makes sense.

Good luck!!!

Good form of stress relief at least

HH, TCOYF is still on my nightstand with a highlighter and post-it notes. How sexy.

Laila, I think I more often refer to myself as knocked up than I do pregnant. My peers *get it* but my parents look at me cross-eyed when I say it. I don''t think they find it funny.
25.gif

Scarlet, welcome! You''ll find tons of information here and wonderful people who will support you through the good and bad. Good luck!

Hey ladies,

I hope everyone''s week is going well so far.

KTF21: Sorry for all the confusion with your cycle post-IUD. I hope that you really did O and that you caught it in time. Btw, I love the Clue analogy, too funny!
4.gif

Sweetlime: Good luck with the whole clomid process. I am sorry it didn''t work on the first go round, but hopefully a higher dose will do the trick!

Caitlin: Sorry about AF coming this weekend, what a bummer. I wish you lots of luck with the IVF and hope you have success this time around.

Lili: I didn''t know that you were trying to get pregnant too, I thought you were just lurking. Are you officially TTC, and if so, shall I add you to the running list?

Smurfy: I agree with pp that there are so many things people say you should or shouldn''t do while TTC. I think moderation is the key word with regards to caffine, exercise, and pretty much all other stuff. Just focus on taking care of yourself and and tracking your cycles so you know that you are doing eveything at the best time possible. As for your O date, I would recommend using something like FF or some other tracking system, so that you don''t have to do math or anything else. Let the program do the work for you
2.gif
Lots of luck!

LV: I am so very excited for you dear! I hope that I can join you in the BFP club soon too. LOTTTTSSS of sticky dust!

Allie: OMG, you are too funny with your little Magic 8 Ball like sayings. That would be hilarious.
3.gif

Scarlet: Welcome to the TTC ''hood
35.gif
. As far as timing is concerned, they say it takes about 6 months on average to get pregnant, so if you want to get pregnant in August, you might want to ditch the birth control (BC) now. I am going on my 5th month off BC, have not done anything to prevent pregnancy for 3 months, one month of really trying, and I am still not pregnant. That being said, some people can get pregnant much faster, but most of the ladies on here will tell you that you will probably need at least that much time. I would also recommend meeting with your OBGYN for a "pre-conception" vsit to check everything out. Otherwise, try to get your body healthy and ready for a LO. Good luck with everything and feel free to ask more questions
1.gif

Plantationcatt: I haven''t seen you back since you HPT picture, I hope eveything is ok...

*****
As for me, I am CD 10 and am waiting for my pre-O temp dip. My OPK was negative yesterday and today, but I am hoping that I will get a + tomorrow. We have also started our BD''ing marathon. I am really hoping we can keep it up for the next few days, so wish me luck
3.gif
. For the rest of the ladies in the 2WW and in the middle of their prime time, good luck to you all!
