Re: The Official TTC Thread!

I'm still truckin along... I am still under the weather and went back to work early this morning armed with cough drops and kleenex. Yuck! Sorry for boo-hooing but I just hate being sick! Vent over.... ;(

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

rincess!! I see the line! Consider yourself ku! You can look at my pee stick collection to see the gradual change. If you want to have more poas fun, buy a digi. The pregnant is unmistakeable and so fun to see. I got my first line on the wondfo 9 dpo and a pregnant on the digi with afternoon urine 11 dpo

Eta... Let us know the results of the blood test! I would be curious to know how sensitive the wondfos are

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Well ladies, the dr called with my BW results and...........

...........BFP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I believe implantation was yesterday with the slight dip I had. Beta was at 14, which explains -FRER and EPT digital. PCP said he refers out to OB/GYN after + and ironically, it turns out that I have my annual Thursday so I'm going to call OB to see if they want to send me for beta on Wed. I'm kindly asking for sticky ninja turtle dust!!!!!!!

Thank you SO much for all of your support ladies!!!!!!!!!!!! MUCH dust to those in the 2ww, and those waiting to O!! You gals are AMAZING!!!!!!!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Yay for a BFP, pp! Im excited to watch the line get darker! :appl:

And pp#2, id be getting a second opinion if I were you. There is no reason your doctor should not be your biggest advocate to helping you get pregnant.

Afm: AF arrived with her friends bitchiness and cramps. Im just sort of pissed. We hit smack dab in my fertile time, yet no baby.
I know the time will be right when it happens. I just hope it happens soon. Hopefully next mont

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi Ladies - longtime lurker - first time poster! I am ready to dip my toe in this thread and start this amazing process. First a little introduction - I'm 33 and DH is 35. We were married in April 2010. We definitely want kids, but it has been hard to find the "right time" to start (both physically and emotionally). I started lurking on the family threads soon after our wedding because I have been very intimidated by the whole pregnancy/parenting process. I owe a huge THANK YOU to all of the ladies that post on these forums because you have given me the courage to take on the parenting challenge. I have been so impressed with the support you offer each other and I hope that I can give a little back after all this time.

So our plan is to start trying in January, but since I have been on the pill for about 8 years I stopped taking BC in mid November to let my system regulate -I was on back-to-back packs, so I hadn't had a period in about 5 years and had no idea what my body would do. Lo and behold, about two weeks after I stopped I had a light period. I have no idea if I ovulated or not, but am interested to see if I can monitor my CM in December and gain any insight. I have decided to not start temping until we have been trying a few months with no success.

I think that is all for now but I am very excited to FINALLY start this process! Eeek! Much dust to all the TCC ladies!!!

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Mrs. Hope, you inspired me to officially dip my toe too. I've been reading about all you wonderful ladies' journeys into TTC, Pregnancy and Parenthood. You guys rock.

A bit about me, I'm 30, DH is 33. We got married in late 2009. I don't think DH wants to start trying until June 2011, but I figured you ladies can help me on this intimidating road. I haven't read TYCOF, but I think I'll try to check it out from the library.

Question for you ladies, did you guys get off hormonal birth control a few months in advance of you TTC "for real"? Like I said DH probably doesn't want to start until later in 2011, but I'm kinda leaning towards MrsHope choice of getting off BCP in advance of TTC. I'm contemplating it since I'm on Seasonale. It's a bit different for BCP, only 4 periods a year, so I think I might need more time to get my body "back to normal."

Thanks for building such a great group, ladies. :)

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Welcome MrsHope and Liang CHi!

LC as to your question, I personally would stop BCP in advance of TTC, but not so far that an accident would be a big terrible thing ;)) Barrier methods are just not as reliable. BUT I personally found it took my body 3 cycles to return to full fertility after stopping the pill (judging by my fertile signs) and those months when things were unclear or confusing were really frustrating. This second time TTC was much easier because I did not go on hormonal BC after having my son, so I knew my fertile signs really well and it made me feel a lot more confident. With something like Seasonal I would be tempted to go off it about 3-4 months before TTC.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi Mrs Hope and lc. welcome!

lc - I went off BC (the pill) and started trying immediately the first time we were TTC and though my cycles were VERY long, we did get KU the second cycle trying. But I agree with DD, it was confusing and frustrating not to know what was really going on with my cycle so if you thin that might bother you, I woudl indeed suggest you give your body some time to regulate before actively TTC.

pumpkin, that's frustrating that you're still waiting for AF. I hope your appointment on thursday gives you some answers!

Charbie, I'm so sorry about AF and the cramps and bitchiness. Last month when they showed up I let myself get nice and inebriated... it sucked the next day feeling hungover AND crampy... but it did make me feel better temporarily. I hope you find something to make you feel a bit better. hugs.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Lliang_chi, I'm sort of in the same position as you -- we're not exactly ready to try yet, but my DH and I have decided that this is my last month on HBC! When I take out this NuvaRing, I'm just going to let my body do its thing and we'll avoid in other ways, but it wouldn't be a disaster if avoiding doesn't work. For me, a lot actually has to do with my libido because I feel like BC has just been killing it and I want it back for awhile before I get preggo! I'm a bit nervous but excited, too...it's the first time in my life that the thought of getting knocked up doesn't terrify the $%!& out of me, haha.

Also, big congrats to princessplease!

And hugs to charbie, I hope you are pampering yourself a bit this week.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Octavia- Thank you :))

AFM, I stopped the pill in early Oct for medical reasons (my BP was high and dr thought the most conservative route would be to d/c BCP's to see if that changed my BP), and DH and I decided whatever happens, happens. I had a light period mid October, and believe I o'ed the end of Oct, but wasn't temping for the whole month. November, I had a regular period. Last month, I was diligent about tracking CM and temps, and used an OPK, which popped positive on Thanksgiving. Essentially, my fertility returned almost immediately, which was the same when I had my first pregnancy some years back (I lost the baby at 13 weeks).

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Welcome - MrsHope and Liang Chi! I hope your stay here is short and sweet.

to answer your question Liang Chi, I went off HBC about 1.5 years before TTC, but that was because I had a strong (and correct) suspicion that things would not return to normal for me. I think that most people are told to stop the pill about 3 months before TTC but I think this is probably for the dr.'s convenience of knowing how far along the pregnancy is. Most people I know who stopped the pill had their fertility back within 1-3 cycles.

Octavia - HBC kills a lot of women's sex drives - did so to me too. Good luck stopping it!

AFM - CD 45 here. No sign of AF. Just waiting for my dr. appt tomorrow morning. Work has been stressful lately so at least I have something else to focus on than the futility of TTC at this moment :cheeky:

PumpkinPie, I'm sorry about your screwy cycle...I really hope you get some answers soon. I'm interested to see what happens with mine, because prior to using BC and when I took a couple-month hiatus a few years ago, I had long cycles, heavy periods, and terrible cramps. I know these can be signs of PCOS, and I think my mom has had issues with endo (will have to ask her when I see her), so I'm not all that hopeful that things will be "normal" for me either. But at this point, I really don't know, and I'd rather find out earlier than when we're in the "must conceive NOW" frame of mind.

Just out of curiosity (if you don't mind sharing), did the libido part go back to normal for you? I've heard it does for most women but that some experience long-term/permanent decrease. :errrr:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi everyone - :wavey:

I first poked my head on here and re-introduced myself a few months ago, and haven't stopped on in a while. But I've been lurking, following everyone's stories, and so happy to see that people are having success! So super baby dust to all of you!!!

Anyways, I think it's finally time for me to officially join the thread. I feel like most people here (in my "real" world) don't really understand the situation and how frustrating this process is.

First, a little background: When I first stopped into this thread, we were in our just pre-TTC days. Now we are full fledged TTC (and have been since August). I've been faithfully charting and temping since June when I came off the ring (prior to that I was on depo), and also using OPKs (twice a day). So I know I'm ovulating.

Only problem is my cycles have been ridiculously long - 45 days, 55 days, and this cycle has been 40+ so far (and I'm just starting my luteal phase which is normally 12 days). So I'm only ovulating about once every other month. My ob/gyn was concerned at my appt a few weeks ago so she's doing a full fertility work-up on Dec. 23. And in the meantime, we just keep BD'ing as much as we can!

Now a MAJOR MAJOR vent (SORRY THIS IS SOOO LONG)! So like I said, I've been using OPK's, the cheapie ones from Amazon. Generally, I've had no problem reading them. But I've been going through them so quickly since my cycles are so long and I've been using 2 day. Well, the packages come with 40 OPKs and 10 pregnancy tests. The OPKs have typically come in a PINK foil wrapping and the pregnancy tests in blue or white.

So this month, I'm trucking along with no clear signs of ovulation (no EWCM, no sore BBs and no positive OPKs). Last week, my OPKs start getting some faint lines (which for me is usual, indicating there is some LH building-up) so we BD on Thurs, Fri, and Sat (when I get some cramping). And so I'm like great, I'll ovulate soon.

On Sat night, Sun and Mon, I get negative OPKs - they are clearly negative with no line at all. Evan though that's a little weird for me, I think maybe the earlier ones in the week were just a "false start" and I'll ovulate next week. We're exhausted from running around Sun and Mon so we end up not BD'ing, thinking well I'm not ovulating anyway. :errrr: Then, Monday night I open a new pack of the OPKs that just arrived and, without thinking anything of it, notice that the OPKs are BLUE and the pregnancy tests are PINK.

So Tuesday morning I go to take an OPK and it hits me - CRAP CRAP CRAP, check the trash can, and sure enough the last 5 tests I took were pregnancy tests and NOT OPKS. They look exactly like the OPKs and typically the pregnancy tests say HCG on the handles! The only way I know is the pink foil wrapper (which also looks identical) is stamped "pregnancy test" not "ovulation test". I AM FURIOUS!!! :angryfire: I've done everything I can to make sure the timing is right and am so pissed that something like this happened. I'm mad at myself for not being more careful and totally mad that the sellers can make them so similar!

And I'm pretty certain that I O'd Monday (maybe Sunday), since my temp was up Tuesday AND today!

Now, I'm in the 2ww and knowing that we didn't do as much as we could have, I'm sad, anxious, and trying my best to stay positive! But it's really hard knowing that, if it didn't work, I really probably won't get to try again until February.

Sorry about the vent, but I could really really use any positive advice or kind words right now!

Scarlet

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Also, big congrats to princessplease! :appl:

Since everyone else has been so incredibly helpful, I thought maybe I could also finally help some others with my experiences!

Octavia & liang_chi:

On the good advice of the ladies here, I decided to come of in June to "clean out my system". When I went off Nuvaring in June, I got a HBC cycle a few days day later and then about 45 days later had a normal period. I thought, hmm, it's a good thing that my cycle is "somewhat" back to normal, but then the cycles got really long. You just don't know what your body is going to do, and whether it will regulate quickly or normally. At least then you have time to evaluate what to do, speak to a doctor if necessary. Since I came off so early, I was able to go to my ob/gyn 6 months in and say what's going on, and now we're already trying to figure out if I need to be on medication to regulate. I think that sped up the process a lot. If I had waited to come off until just before, I would NEVER had known how long my cycles were.

So my advice would also be to come off as EARLY as possible w/out it being bad if you accidentally get KU. We ended up using condoms until we were "ready" to start in September.

Also, my libido was fairly strong even on HBC (both depo and nuva ring) but it kicked up like CRAZY when I first came off of HBC. My best friend who came off recently noticed the same thing.

Oh wow! Congratulations, Princessplease!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So happy for you!!!!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl:

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

LC and Octavia: I decided to stop Yaz January of last year and that was like 8 months or so before my husband and I were ready to TTC. I think it's definitely a good idea to stop taking the pill a couple of months before you're actively trying just because that gives you enough time to get to know your fertility signs (BBT and ovulation sticks) without being completely stressed out about it. That's how I found out that I wasn't really ovulating and it gave me some time to go to my regular yearly check up nurse and now to an RE! So anywho, definitely give yourself sometime to adjust without the pill. And Octavia, I really hated NuvaRing when I was using it--it just turned me into a complete psychopath and DH wanted nothing to do with me!!! I'm also in the same boat as you that for the first time the idea of pregnancy didn't scare the bejesus out of me...it's funny because when I was teen/early 20's whenever I saw a pregnant person I always though "sucks to be you" and the had a very irrational fear of childbirth then all of a sudden it was gone and now I'm jealous of pregnant women!

Scarlet- OH NO! That sucks about what happened!!!! Good luck on the 2ww big baby dust for you! You could very well be pregnant still be optimistic. Think about all the pregnancy that occurred before ovulation sticks were invented! hehe Yeah prior to metformin my cycles were 60+ days long! You're taking the right steps getting a fertility work up! Keep us updated.

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Hi ladies,

Thanks everyone for the advice of stopping HBC. I think maybe I'll take the plunge in the new year. I'll need to give DH sometime to adjust to the idea. but that will give my body 6 months to normalize and give me a chance to get in touch with all the fertile signs. I've been on HBC of some sort for about 12 years, give or take.

Scarlet, super annoying how they repackaged your kits. I'm keeping my fingers crossed you guys caught little eggie

Pumpkin, I hope you get some answers in your appointment tomorrow.

So, here was my humorous intro into the world of TTCing. So this week I'm HBC due for my period. It's usually a normally short, 2 days, But y'know normal (red, need tampon etc). This time, just spotting or dark red/brown in color and I'm just using panty liners. So with all this TTC reading I've been doing lately, I was like, "well maybe I should take a preg test, y'know just in case." so I bought a two-fer at CVS, read the instructions and was all set... DUDE! I did NOT know it was that hard to pee on a stick! Maybe I'm just *special* but, for me, it was hard, in the ladies room at work no less. Good thing I got a two-fer since the first test I did was an invalid result. Anyway I guess that's what lies on the road ahead.

Lots of dust to you ladies waiting to test and dust to you ladies egg chasing.

~lc (I like the abbreviated nickname btw)

Re: The Official TTC Thread!

Princessplease, I'm super late in congratulating you, but congrats!!!

LC, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for you!

Since a few here have stopped BCP in preparation for TTC, I'm hoping to get a little insight. I stopped the pill this summer thinking that we may start TTC this winter, however for various reasons I think this will be pushed to the spring. My first 2 cycles were text book and I was amazed since I was not regular at all before going on the pill. For two months I O'd around on CD15/16 (using OPKs) and had a 28-day cycle. In October, my cycle seemed slighly longer and I didn't use OPKs that month. This cycle, I tried using OPKs again starting on CD11, but after testing for a week I sort of gave up. And I never saw any EWCM. And now? I'm on day 36 of my cycle!! I've even taken 2 pregnancy tests just to make sure I'm not pregnant (we haven't "pulled the goalie" yet, so to speak, but a surprise at this point would be welcome). So, has anybody else seen their cycles get very wonky after a few months off BC? When AF does show up, I think I'm going to start temping again.
