The TRR Rescue Thread: Show your treasures!

@lala646 So odd that it was on hold for 24 hours. I do not understand their website sometimes because hold are only supposed to be 15 minutes unless the person makes the purchase. Just today there was some thing that I wanted that said “coming soon” and I was watching and somehow it got sold again before I even saw that it was “available”. I don’t get it! But I’m so glad that the stone is in your hands!

Once I scrap the gold, and accounting for the 1.5% back with Rakuten, should end up a little over $3K.

Great buy! Good for you!!! Can't wait to hear about what GIA says and see how you decide to set the stone. Congrats!!!

Yeah, I nearly bought a newly cut 1.3ct K VS1 OEC in the same price range, and it sold while I was trying to convince myself to buy it, so this is an excellent consolation prize.

I have seen the same happen. Some behind the scenes machinations, I guess.

When I was having an item transferred into the local office, it was not on hold even though it was in the mail for me. Once I had my appointment to see it, they put it on hold in my cart for 24 hours.

I'll post my TRR finds here later today!

What a great thread! I love TRR for clothes, shoes, and bag finds, but have never searched their jewelry.

There's some treasures to be found... I purchased 2.5 cttw sapphire (cornflower blue, vvs1-type clarity) studs for a very reasonable price. They were in a buttercup setting... I think that must have been why they were overlooked by others. I bought the with a TRR 20% coupon (!), had them reset into 4-prong with la pousette security backs. If I do say so myself, they're fabulous!

None of my finds are super extreme wins like some of the others but I think they do show how the photography doesn't do pieces justice:

Mikimoto 18k Tahitian ring. The photography was so bad that I thought they might be brown diamond melee

next to some Takahashi "gem luster" Akoyas:

Neil Lane platinum French cut band:1725488386617.png1725488431808.png

est. 0.7ctw 14k diamond flower necklace (for only $340!):

I returned these mystery Suzanne Kalan-ish but unhallmarked earrings. They were prettier in person than photos looked -- after getting cleaned (they had literal gunk):

I also purchased a Tiffany DBTY silver necklace that I wore for a couple of years and then resold for a small profit despite paying to have a jumpring added at Tiffany.

I just love seeing the TRR pictures versus the IRL pictures!

I believe the 24 hour holds shown on their website are in-store holds. That what was told to me when I called and inquired about an Omega watch.

So here's an exciting update: I dropped the estimated 1.41ct stone at GIA today for grading, and on intake they weighed it as 1.56ct!! I don't know if that's final, but hooray! Should have the final results in 5-7 business days.

All that to say, @Dreamer_D, your hunch was correct!

Wow, amazing! Their pictures really are bad!

Ok, got the results back from GIA (so fast!). I'm surprised it got a K, but no fluor. It reads much whiter in real life.

The >1.5 carat weight is confirmed! Amazing! Great rescue, it looks beautiful in the other thread.

now we are well into page two is not a good time to ask what does TRR stand for ?

I rescued something! (Well, really, I was a lurker who swooped in and bought it without blinking about a year ago when someone posted it on another thread!) It's a 1.06 J SI1 BGD signature solitaire. I think with taxes and shipping it was a little over $2500!

Originally I was going to make it into a pendant, but I have been working with Liza at WF for almost a year to find it a well-priced friend so it can be a stud! Note: I will also be rescuing one of those "inquire" about eye cleanliness ACAs around Christmas! This his great news! Great specs. And over 1.5! Can’t wait to see how you set it as this diamond deserves to be adored.
