It was really expensive (over 5k - but it is 13 carats with lots of diamonds) and I am concerned with how fragile zircon is. Any thoughts? I still have two weeks to return it.

If you've been listing after it for 5 long years, I feel like it's meant to be. Personally, I was blown away by it. It's the absolute perfect color imo.

Is @dkata ‘s seafoam zircon a winner? This photo looks very promising. Stay tuned to find oit whether her ebay find is a keeper: https://www.pricescope.com/communit...-bought-a-zircon-on-ebay.240620/#post-4335478

Just an update, if someone maybe hasn’t seen it on my other thread. The stone came yesterday, and it is really a nice one. It’s a chameleon, even more than my other zircon.

I don’t know, how I’m going to set it, I think it won’t happen in the near future.

It’s really beautiful! If I remember correctly, you got a great deal too!

Saw your post in the eyecandy thread! (And you are right: your ring has similarities with my Victor Canera ring. I looove the greenish seafoam colour in your ring). So glad you have decided to keep it as it is such a stunner!
How do you feel about it now that you have been wearing it fot a short while?

I am completely crazy about it. I love that it is one of a kind - and looking at a gemstone that is so old brings me a ton of comfort (which may be weird but it is what it is). I got it insured so I am less afraid to wear it. :(

@elle_71125 has acquired a stunning blue zircon from Jeff White!! It’s bright and saturated just like the rest of her sophisticated coloured stones and rings collection. Looking forward to see how she will set this beauty. Knowing elle she will find an amazing setting for it.

I love this zircon thread and it makes me want a blue zircon. If I remember correctly, they are quite sparkly in person. Is this correct?

When I see pictures of zircons, I often see several black areas on different facets. I completely understand the reason for this. My question is, are these areas that aren’t returning light noticeable in person (with the ring wearer moving around or not) or just in static pictures?

Thanks!

Speaking as a non-expert, yes, zircons do sparkle! Can’t answer about the black spots, which I have not seen.

Hi @LittleRed, I have a few zircons that are set and few that aren't. They all sparkle like crazy. My blue zircon stud earring are my go to pair and I get compliments every time. As for the black spots/extinction, mine didn't have any in the photos and none in hand.
I'm trying to remember who I bought them from...Jason Brim I think no it was Brad at TGT. And Jim McCormick? Maybe Jeff Davies. Anyway, they are up there as some of my favorites.

Thanks for the information! It’s good to know and now zircon is up there on my “to get” list. :rolleyes2:

I was wearing my zircon for years and they were rarely discussed. It’s so cool seeing these beautiful stones being enjoyed by so many people. They are truly some of the most beautiful gems on earth ❤️

Are you still enjoying yours? I love the colour of your zircon. Any more recent pics?

Bought an inexpensive orange zircon ring recently just to see what a zircon was like. It was advertised as bright red heated zircon from Cambodia but turned out really orange, hot cheeto orange, in fact.

Here it is indoors with my spess, which is a nice fanta orange to my eye but washes out in photos.

And here it is in front of a window. It photographs with these yellow flashes but my eye doesn’t see them.

Haven’t figured out how I feel about this zircon yet. It’s very clear and very flashy (with a brilliant cut) compared to the more silky velvety coloured stones I’m used to.

I've drooled over these big, colorful sparkly zircons many of you own, but have some fears about owning my own, that maybe some of you can help me out with.

I have heard that CZ is terrible because of facet wear. I'm not sure how much colored zircons resemble CZ in terms of durability, facet wear. How long do you think the colored zircons in your rings would hold up if you were to wear them say, 2-3 days per week?

@peachick your orange zircon is gorgeous with brilliant flashes. Looks very much like a reddish spessarite, and I think it would look awesome if you wore both your fanta spess and your zircon on the same hand, different fingers. The two colors look great next to one another.

Ok, now are you talking about zircons, a natural gemstone or cubic zirconium? Usually, I see the CZ abbreviation used with cubic zirconium. If I'm wrong, please correct me :-)

I'm asking about zircons, the natural gemstone. I thought there might be some similarity in crystal structure or chemistry due to part of the name of CZ also including "zircon"?

If I buy natural zircons, how would the facet wear compare to garnets, peridots, tourmalines?

Thanks for clarifying! Hopefully, someone will be able to answer your question.

Long post: Today I did a zircon makeover. I'd read this blog post from Cecile Raley and figured improvement was possible if I didn't like a zircon I recently ordered. The stone is large with a beautiful Portuguese cut, but not the greatest color and has a very large face up inclusion.

Well, the stone arrived and I didn't like it. It was really brown, moreso than anticipated. But it was really underwhelming. As my first zircon, I was expecting a lot of dispersion regardless of color and it had zero sparkle. It also showed greasy fingerprint marks even right after washing in hot water and dishsoap. I guess it's what's called a low zircon. Vendor picture:

So, I did the heating on my stove top. . . It was scary because I knew there was an inclusion, and I kept thinking the stone might explode and put someone's eye out (well, my eye). My extremely patient husband did not protest the project, and I got good results. It's now an off white/champagne color and sparkles like crazy, with more fire than my diamond. I didn't take a pic of the stone alone, but after I set it. It's cool because the rest lightened up, but the inclusion is now a faint orange line. I'm much happier now, and had fun doing the makeover on it.

So awesome you took that chance and got such amazing results, especially with the inclusion! Let’s hope it is a stable color and sparkle.=)2

I've been ogling everyone's stunning zircon rings in this topic. Right now, the only zircons I own are a pair of dangly earrings with zircons and color change garnets. I'd love to get a bigger zircon with the luscious color of these stones! They sparkle even more in direct sunlight :-)

Thanks for sharing @Acinom

I’m really enjoying the zircon. It’s super saturated in a way other blues are not, Here is another better pic
Wow, it’s such an amazing blue! Thanks for sharing the additional pics

@2Neezers will set her dreamy blue zircon (cut by Jeff White!) in an existing setting. Looking forward to see the end result. It already looks stunning!
