Alright, here it is. I confess, I remember it as army green because that’s what it looks like in low light. In the sun, the color is an army greenish-chartreuse color with some yellowish-gold, which I like very much. BUT, in low light...it’s arny green. It’s not evenly cut and it’s got a chip on the bezel. Not sure what to do with it. I am impressed with how sparkly it is though.

In low light next to a windowed Heliodor for color comparison. Maybe I could have them both recut and made into a pendant together, but that might be more expensive than what I paid for them. pre pricescope. It just bothers me to have stones unset, and I have some loose stones which irk me because I’m not sure I want to spend the $$$ to have them set. I can imagine that they might look good, but then I’m not sure they would get worn compared with my staple pieces, KWIM?

I l:love:ve your yellow zircon!!! So much dispersion:love:!!!

Nice zircons! Especially like the yellow one, kind of looks a yellow diamond. What are your setting plans?

Thanks @alene !!
Thinking of a Blingy bypass setting using both stones...Yum!!!:))

Beautiful zircons everyone!
These are my loose zircons in a variety of blues. The ovals all came from Mastercut Gems and the Asscher is from Jeff White.

Amazing collection!!

The big one is 10.3mm x 9.2mm and 5.77ct. It’s a bit larger than what I usually wear, so I haven’t set it yet. I purchased it during one of their sales at an amazing price and figure maybe someday I will want to make a big zircon ring with it ;)).

I have no clue how to evaluate Zircon but I love these earrings :kiss2:...thoughts? I don't know anything about Zircon and am wondering if this price is fair. They are around 6K.

vintagezirconearrings.jpg

They are 1920s cushion cut zircon about 11 carats total. 18K yellow gold and platinum. Surrounded by 16 single cut diamonds (1 carat total) in the halo.
19mm by 13mm.

NAGL report (no clue about this lab)
2 CushionMixedCutNaturalZircon 11.06 ctw
Hue greenish blue
Lightly included L/1
Tone / Saturation Medium/Moderately Strong
Cut Good
Weight 6.3 grams so that leaves me out as they are too heavy for my ears. Darn my baby ears.;(
But just wondering is this a fair price for these earrings?

Thanks.

I could be wrong, but I don’t ever recall Art Deco period jewelry with blue zircon. I suspect if it is a period piece, it originally had another gem type in them (probably sapphire) and they were removed. The bezel looks a bit shoddy as if it was repaired after removing the gems. Despite that, it’s hard to say. Maybe someone in the antique jewelry forum can give you a better answer. Platinum is very heavy, so you would definitely feel them.

Compared to Atwater's huge one, mine is small at 7mm and 2 carats.

Here's how I think of it. The zircon pair is worth about 2k. The setting with diamonds is another 2k. Not much metal has to go to making a pair of earrings, but these are bigger than your normal earrings, so maybe another 500 tops. That leaves the remaining 1500 for workmanship. Is it good enough for me to be willing to pay that much for workmanship? Probably not. Depending on how much time was spent in making them, maybe the seller thinks this price is "fair". In my opinion, a good price for them would be 4k-5k.

I love them, but personally wouldn't pay that much. Maybe 3-4k? The zircons are beautiful and setting is nice, I just think it's overpriced.

I think that your zircon is a perfect size :-)

That is a beautiful zircon.

Here is my blue zircon ring.

This ring has a story. The blue zircon was given to my paternal grandmother for her 16th birthday which would have been 1938. It was originally set in a vintage fishtail sort of setting of 10k YG. After she died and we were dividing up her jewelry no one else wanted it, and I liked it, so I got it. I hated the setting though and one day meant to reset it. At the time I was not sure what the stone was, I had it evaluated later.

The other stone is a CZ. After my maternal grandfather died, we found some jewelry made from CZ that he had bought for the three granddaughters. It had been his intention to get one for each of us, but he hadn’t bought it all yet. In addition, My grandmother, who is more of a jewelry buff, was horrified he had bought “CZ” (he just thought it was pretty) for us instead of something better so he never gave them to us. After he died, they had the stones taken out of the necklace and gave each of us one.

So now I had these two stones and wanted to do something to remember both sides of the family. I had the blue zircon taken out of the fishtail and chose to set both in a duet solitaire style. Here it is. It turned out lovely. It is one of my favorite rings. It is set in sterling because I didn’t want to spend big bucks on stones that were not worth a lot other than sentimentally, but, I do love it. It is so sparkly. It is a Stuller setting and I had it sourced and set by a local jeweller.

The round I just purchased for Yissie, beautiful sunny yellow, cut by Jeff White. The oval is for MasterCutGems recent sale. I really like them both.

That round is beautiful.

I shall set my oval one from JD in a couple of months.
Can't remember the spec, sorry!

I love that setting!!!! It will be gorgeous.

So fun! Are they about the same size, 6mm? Is Dana setting them? Do you mind my asking how much? One day I want a big sparkly pair of blue zircon studs and a matching ring. (which I already have the setting, just waiting for the right time)

@collier They are 6 and 6.1mm. I don't like studs to be much bigger, personal preference.
These were super cheap, just over $100. And so much nicer than the ones I got elsewhere for nearly 4x the price (& returned:naughty:).
David Klass is making the earrings, they are a bit pricey, but I'm sure they could be made cheaper elsewhere. I'm just a DK fan.
