That''s an interesting observation - for me, before finding Pricescope I was very dissapointed because I simply could not find a cushion with this look! I live in San Francisco, and went to two jewelers who both had minimal knowledge on cushions. Both showed me CMB''s with the "crushed ice" look.Date: 9/10/2008 11:14:56 AM

They are both so beautiful and I would be over the moon with either of them. It always amazes me that I am told what I want is so rare and hard to find. Yet, I see them on Pricescope so often. Are Pricescope members getting them all or is it really not so hard to find?
kimikocat, I''m glad you agree with me! At some points in my search I felt like banging my head into a wall.Date: 9/10/2008 2:19:52 PM

Hi EDL!
I live in SF, too, and have been hunting for a stone for the last 3 months. I agree with your experience. My experience with local B&Ms has been rather disappointing.
That said, I love the chunky cushion on the left. It''s a beautiful cut and reminds me of the old stones! I have an OEC with chunky facets and love the way the faceting plays with light.
The one on the right is beautiful, as well. Let your girl pick her favorite. She can''t go wrong!

Both stones look incredible! Wish I had that kind of budget (for a D/VS1)!

Diamonds last longer than a car, right?
I think you did a really nice job. The one you picked is simply gorgeous. How are you going to set it?
Thanks! I really hope so.Date: 9/10/2008 8:27:53 PM

Great pick! Your girl will LOVE it!
I''ve also heard that the CB are very rare with the 8 facets.
If you like the one I picked, Mark just purchased a smaller E VS1 that''s virtually the same cut, beautiful chunky facets. You should call him!Date: 9/11/2008 12:06:24 AM

I was actually waiting for you to say you''d get the one on the right, so that I can grab the left one myself!!!(Kidding)

I haven''t decided on the setting yet, but it will either be a simple cathedral solitare (something like Leon Mege R572 or R907) or the Tiffany Novo.
My GF really likes the Novo, but ideally I''d like something that isn''t so common. I''m thinking a good compromise would be a cathedral solitare with micro-pave on the shank and double claw prongs. Mark has a setting that''s fairly similar (called Sophia) but I''m gonna browse around PS before deciding to see if any other ideas pop up.
Sillysweetie I don''t know all the details of it, but I think it''s between 1.5-1.75 ct, E VS1. Didn''t see the GIA but at a glance I''d say the table, depth, and cut type is very similar to the stone I purchased. Big chunky facets, but a small cutlet so there''s not a big "eye" in the middle (if you don''t like that look). It''s a winner.Date: 9/12/2008 3:07:48 AM

edl: Just curious. Do you have more information on this stone?
I''m not yet ready to purchase a stone any time soon, so guess I''d better not bother Mark now.
Edited to add: can''t figure out how to quote message.
Kimikocat - I was browsing through the VC thread and absolutely love their detail work, it got me hooked. I also noticed you''re size 3.5, same as my GF! What VC setting do you think would work best with this stone? Or should I just swing by their shop to chat?Date: 9/11/2008 5:16:05 PM

I like the Leon micro-pave cathedral solitaires a lot. The Novos do seem common to me. And that cushion seems to call out for something beautiful and vintage -- but also simple.
