I went and tried on wedding dresses again yesterday (no, I STILL couldn''t sneak any pictures--darn!) and I have narrowed it down with some input from FI (he hasn''t seen the dresses, but we went through a bunch of pictures online and he gave some input about what he likes and doesn''t like). Unfortunately, I am still totally torn. Right now the two top contenders are a very pretty and romantic strapless lace a-line gown and a very daring backless bias-cut Amy Michelson gown. Both look great on and I am having a devil of a time choosing between the two. In the bias cut dress, I feel like an old hollywood silver screen goddess, but I think the lace a-line is more "garden wedding" in a way, which is what we''re having.

I''ll be posting pictures just below this, but I would love some opinions on which dress you guys like.

Second Dress:

They are both lovely dresses but I voted for the more traditional dress. Its very pretty!

Second dress if you feel good and sexy in it! I don't think it would look odd at a garden wedding.

Sex in a Garden.

I mean, sexy and sophisticated.

I can''t decide! It''s hard to make a decision without seeing them on you! Which one do YOU want, and which one will you look back at your pictures and say, "I''m so glad I picked THAT dress?"

I love the second dress but I voted for #1 because you''re having a garden wedding. Its also gorgeous and I''m a big believer in having a cohesive design theme.

I don''t think the backless dress would be out of place in a garden wedding. I picked #2!

#1 is elegant. #2 is stunning.

Brides should be stunning!

If you think you can pull it off and be comfortable in it, #2 for sure. I would have loved to wear a dress like that, but i couldn''t pull it off.

Ditto! You sound much more enthusiastic about this dress. Which one makes you feel better? If you can pull that dress off and feel fabulous, then go for it!!!

I''m in the process of heading home (literally in line to board the plane) from a garden wedding where my friend wore a very similar dress to #2. It didn''t look out of place at all - on the contrary, it worked really well! If that''s the one you love, don''t fight it, just go with it!

I voted for the sexy dress.. I have no idea why but eventhough its sexy, it could fit a garden wedding theme VERY well, and the style of the dress is more elegant.

The first one looks just ok to me.

I voted for the second one (I have that saved on my computer so I might be a bit biased).

I think that it is so sexy while still being appropriate, and as your poll said ''When else can you where a backless gown''

wish i could see them on you before deciding.. but if i had to choose i pick 1... it''s timeless!

I voted for no. 1 because I'm not that crazy about no. 2 and I figure if you have to ask, then it's probably not the gown for you. Having said that, I think you can probably do better than no. 1 for that traditional/romantic look.

I voted number 2- That dress made my jaw drop. I also think since you are the bride you are allowed to stand out a little and that dress will make everyone go wow.

Ditto! #2 is GORGEOUS...#1 is just kind of says "wedding dress" to me. And from what I've picked up from your posts, #2 seems more your style. I love that dress!

ETA my friends had a casual-ish wedding at an art gallery and the bride wore something very similar and it didn't look out of place at all. She wore her hair in very old Hollywood waves and red lipstick and looked AMAZING.

number 2 for me as well-I think it would fit in fine in a garden wedding.

Dress no. 2 is absolutely stunning. And I think it`ll look beautiful in a garden wedding.

ladypirate sounds like you're having the same debate I did!

Deco and Gypsy separately said something very similar on my thread that really helped me so I'll attempt to repeat it - if you are clinging to the traditional dress because you feel you 'ought' to fit the traditional image of a 'bride', and wondering what's wrong with you that you don't love that dress over the more 'unusual' dress, know that it's perfectly OK not to fall head over heels for the traditional dress. There is nothing wrong with you for wanting something different to the traditional dress and for not feeling the magic in what is really and truly a beautiful gown. I'm butchering this, but I hope the sentiment comes through - you should read my dress thread if you'd like to hear the much more eloquent originals!

For what it's worth, I 1000% prefer dress 2. Dress 1 to me is an 'insert bride here' dress. Dress 2 is a dress only a very few people can pull off - so if you're feeling at home in that dress, then I'd say that's your dress!

I adore #2. #1 is pretty, but (dare I say it) it''s kind of... just another wedding dress, yanno? You''d be a serious knockout in #2!!

Number 2 for the win :) with the right touches that would totally be a stylin garden wedding dress :)

I don''t necesarriily think #1 is the right dress, but if the reason you like #2 is because you look like a bombshell in it (lucky girl!) then that isn''t the right reason either maybe. The one thing about #2 is that you can wear that style at other events in your life, whereas a ''wedding dress'' is a one time thing.

Granted, if you never wanted a ''wedding dress'' than go for #2!!

There are more traditional gowns that are more of a mix of looking classic and beautiful AND hot/sexy :-) if you want to try that.

I like the 1st one. I think it would fit well in your garden theme wedding.

I voted for the traditional dress but the other one is sexy for sure! I think the more traditional one would suit a garden wedding better and like you said the sexy one is more Hollywood glamour style.

Am voting for the 1st! Think it fits wonderfully with a garden theme! Very romantic!

#2!
