Oh and if we''re picking rings, I''ve had the biggest crush on this one for the longest time, though it''s over our 5k budget

I can only imagine what it looks like in person. Miss Harriet, do you happen to have seen this one? If not, would you check it out for me?

That is my very favourite as well! I keep imagining under what situations I could convince myself to spend that much money on a ring (the dollar would have to go down a lot!)

10 stones please!

When there are SO many choices, how am I to choose just one?

Easy answer: one $5k stone. I''d rather one super fine one that I''ll be satisfied with for a long time instead of several mediocre ones.

10 $500 it is then!!!!
Ditto!

Just one for me. I wouldn''t know what to do with 25!

Tough one. I guess I''d go for one stone.

one 5k stone - I would be able to get my ruby :-).

Either one 5K or ten $500!

Indeed I have.

To answer TGal''s question, I''d go with the $5,000 stone.

So what would you get for your 5K? Let''s go with the 10 for 500 or 1 for 5000 equation...

Me? I''m going back to diamonds (sacrilege, I know), so I''d spend my 5K getting the nicest transitional diamond I could find.

If you have your 10, you can list that too!

Well, since 5k can't get me what I want in a certain colored stone, I'm going with another old cut diamond. Antique cushion this time...

Count me in the camp of the one stone. I''d rather have one excellent quality stone then a bunch that are just "nice". As to what I would get, could I get a nice Pad for that price? If so, that would be it.

I would probably be scared of losing or damaging the one and only, and besides, there''s so many affordable varieties where even 200$ can buy you a good quality piece (amethyst, citrine, lapis, pearl, spessartite, rhodolite, zircon...) that it''s no brainer for me. Not that I''d need 25 stones, but still...

Can I have $6720? I know exactly which stone to spend it on...

(even if I can''t - no doubt, go for the single quality stone)

Oooh, which one?
This one

I''d drop the $5k on one stone - no doubt about it. The best I can buy in decent size everytime - I like my collection stones to be around the 2ct mark so it tends to make things more expensive and harder to find.

Oooo I''d take the 5K stone any day :)

I wouldn''t know what to do with five gemstones, let alone twenty five! I''ll take the $5000 stone.

LOL - Me too! One kick ass stone please!

I thought before I voice an opinion, I''ll scout about and see what''s out there. My initial feeling is that I would take 1 stone at $5,000. What I discovered was that it was a lot easier to find 10 stones at $500!

That being said, I would probably opt for the nicest looking pink/peachy imperiall topaz I could find.

$5000 on one stone for me...runs to look at Cherry Picked site for a killer sapphire or maybe something different. I'll decide when I get there!

ETA: I can't get on their site

I'll have to look elsewhere.

Where do you recommend I look for the $5000 sapphire that TG is buying for me

I don''t know which 10 stones, just that I would prefer that. Maybe I''ve never found "the one" of anything, from stones to wedding dresses, but I do have a wandering eye. Buying a $5,000 stone wouldn''t keep me happy. In another week I''d be looking again. With 10 at $500 each I could play as much as I liked, and my big thing, match anything I wanted!

Oh, Great question ! !

I have a feeling, though, that more experienced gem enthusiasts "might" prefer one $5,000 stone. They have probably owned lots of stones already, even if not great, and tried them out, found what they love and don''t love.

I''m still green so would go with the many. Also, I prefer/wear different colors in different seasons. My summer choices in colored stones would not feel right in the winter. For example, when it''s 90 degrees out I''d much rather be wearing aqua than any red stones.

Well, if you live in southern California, it''s temperate year round...narrows down the choices nicely!!

my pad definitely feels like a spring/summer stone though! Summer fruit, for sure.

For $5K, I''d get a killer demantoid.

not even a point to ponder for me: $5k stone. prefer quality over quantity when it comes to this issue.

Ditto to the letter. Sapphire for me.
