Under 1ct diamonds

Hi! Sharing my girlfriend's proposal ring here! It's a 0.83ct, E, VS1, on a standard Tiffany setting.
Sorry if the ring is so zoomed in because I wanted to take a picture of the hearts and arrows using my dslr but not too successful in that lol

This thread should be renamed "Under 1 ct diamonds on well above average hands". :D

Everyone here has such long, slender, pretty fingers - I guess a requirement for pulling of smaller stone in a delicate setting.
All very pretty.

I may have posted these already... in that case here they are again! (Snowed in and spending the morning with PS)...
the first one is so tiny I’m not sure it HAS a carat weight LOL,
and the second is 0.60. I love both of them.IMG_9502.jpgimg_8281_0.jpg

Well there's mine lol definitely no tiny fingers here, especially with pregnancy. Normally I wear a 6.5 but I had them sized to 7.5 so I can still wear them until I swell out of that too. I suppose it will help too when I add a third ring later on.
This is my compromise engagement ring we had made using my grandmother's. 47 H colour diamond. Total weight is about 1.2 carats.
From what I know it's fine cut so the jeweller got matching colour melee for the engagement ring. Not sure if it too is fine cut or no. Centre stone has got a giant inclusion, so low clarity but now that I'm not being crazy about my wedding I barely notice it anymore :) I was going to go for a solitaire but husband decided it needed to be fancy. I had to rein him in because I prefer fancy wedding bands and plain engagement rings and this was our result lmao. I realise it's not as nice as many in here but hopefully it's not too bad :)

Umm, not only is this “not too bad”, it’s gorgeous! I’m so glad you posted a pic MM. Seriously, your ring is really beautiful and I love the setting, your jeweler did a fabulous job. I love it! :appl:

Well thank you :D I really appreciate it. :D

Well I can't be super helpful with the specs of my ring as far as color and clarity, but I do know it's 1 carat and I'm a size 6. The band is about 2mm total with the wedding ring soldered to the engagement ring. The center diamond is eye clean and it throws a ton of fire. I always get lots of compliments from it when I take it to the jewelry store to be cleaned, and comments from strangers. I live in rural Minnesota, so a 1 carat is definitely an above average size stone. Which, I'm not going to lie, is kind of fun.

I've had it for 13 years now. My style is pretty simple. I didn't want anything flashy and I wanted a thin band. Before I got engaged a girlfriend of mine and I went to look just for fun (later found out it was a set up by my husband to find out what I liked). As soon as I saw this setting at our local jeweler I knew it was"me". The band was only 1mm, simple, with 6 tiny, simple diamonds on the side of the center stone. I liked the curved band too. I told my friend I liked a smaller center stone too. I think it was 1/4 carat at the store.

Well, little did I know my future father in law had ties with a diamond wholesaler who sold directly to stores. When this man was coming through our town, my father in law met him in the American legion parking lot while on the phone with my husband (who was hours away up at college), to pick out my center Stone. So really, my father in law picked out my stone. Lol!!! It makes me laugh every time I think about it. I guess the diamond dealer said to tell the jeweler it's an heirloom diamond when they go to set it in the ring, because it didn't even have a lasered ID number on it. And I think he'd get in trouble selling his diamonds directly to a consumer and not a jeweler.

Needless to say, I was shocked when I saw my ring shining back at me when my husband proposed. It is so so special to me. I love it! The wedding band makes it IMG_20180111_093235.jpg
Assymetrical, which I love. It makes a little heart around the 3 side stones. I love that it's still a very simple ring, I've never seen anyone is person with anything similar, and it is fun to have a nice statement rock in the middle (at least for rural MN)IMG_20180111_093719.jpgIMG_20180111_093650.jpgIMG_20180111_093302.jpgIMG_20180111_092725.jpgIMG_20180111_093637.jpg

A 0.9 modified cushion, D-VS1 on a size 9 finger. Perfect for me! 1 carat diamonds (particularly ones of any decent quality) are fairly rare in my part of the world - I have one friend who is lucky enough to have a carat. I feel really honoured to wear something so beautiful.

The center stone was originally on a plain solitaire which I loved 11 years ago. But I was ready for something different. I looked at several places and online but actually fell in love with this set at a chain jewelry store!

The center diamond is .48. D, IF. Hubby went for quality over size. I think the new setting shows it off nicely!

See my other thread on Rocky Talky relating to the diamond selection.
Diamond is 0.82ct, James Allen True Hearts, G VS1, excellent polish/symmetry, no flouro, 0.9HCA
Band is JA Comfort 1.5mm Platinum, size 5.25
Just need to organise a proposal!

I'm so happy I can finally post on this thread. I got my .82 E-color VS2 clarity Crafted by Infinity 25th anniversary ring yesterday and I'm thrilled. My original diamond was just over a carat, but it was an ugly, poorly cut stone. It had two large visible inclusions right under the table, had no life or sparkle to it and had a slight gray tinge. I really hated it and felt so bad that I hated it, because it was my engagement ring and my husband gave it to me. I wore it for a few years, but eventually got rid of it. I went without a diamond for a long time after that. Sparkle and color were my top priorities this time around and my budget was limited. I knew I wanted a high color super ideal so I struggled with the size issue. I couldn't afford a one carat with those criteria. I was worried that an 80 pointer would look small. It doesn't. It looks delicate and feminine. I actually prefer it over a larger stone. I went on "field trip" to some B&M stores to check out size and color before I ordered my ring. I tried on a .5, a .7, a 1 carat and a 2 carat diamond. The .5 was too small, the .7 looked pretty, the 1 carat was pretty, but almost bordering on overkill and the 2 carat looked way too big to me. It just didn't feel like me. And I don't have small fingers, either. My ring size is a 7.5 but I ordered an 8 with sizing beads to get past my giant ape-like knuckles (!!) Anyway, I just wanted to say that I have no regrets about sacrificing size for a super ideal cut and a high color. It really wasn't much of a sacrifice to me. I'm not afraid of DSS, either! I think if I won Lotto, I might upgrade to a 1 carat D-color VS1 CBI in a Victoria by Erika Winters setting (with the Imogen band!), but that's as far as I'd go. And I'd still keep this ring--it's gorgeous, absolute perfection in my mind.

image.jpeg Here is my Wife's engagement diamond. We didn't have much when we were starting out, but I got her only a .48 point stone, but the quality is very high.
I lost my everything to cancer five years back. I was going to bury her with her ring, but what my Grandmother tol me made sense. She pulled a gold chain from around her neck, and there was Grandpa's wedding ring. She said that every morning she gives it a kiss, and it makes her feel closer to him.
So, I had it set into a six prong pendant setting. Grandma had a heavy, old 14K solid box link chain that was my Grandpa's, and It fit my pendant perfectly. I occasionally take my Grandmother to lunch, and she always wants to look at it.
And she was right. It does make me feel as if somehow a little bit of her is still with me, and that helps. Anyhow, here it is.
