Vendor pictures and owner pictures of PS stones

Superb score! It's beautiful!
I hope it's a keeper for you?
How will you set it?

Those are both really pretty!
Congratulations!

@fantapanda I think the second halo option is more elegant, and the one I would choose, since the color of your stone is decidedly floral.

It’s my first color stone buy. It is a pink-purple spinel. Top two pictures are my own by iPhone indoor and outdoor, the bottom two are from Dana at MastercutGems. I think Dana’s pictures are accurate and the stone has more sparkles in life.

A steely blue grey spinel from MVM gems (Michelle Mai) on IG. Her special portugese cut named "stormlight". She cuts for Rioux Rocks, and I love her cuts. I am very pleased with stone, color as expected and very sparkly. My gem pic skills are lacking though ;). My pics. I'm planning an all grey spinel cluster.

IRL the color can shift, and l have decided that l like the color shift. A different effect than Jedi red spinels!

Hand shots are indoors under cloudy natural light, other pictures are a mix of natural and fluorescent.

Got smaller spinel and kornerupine from The Gem Trader.

.21 carat Hauyne 3mm rounds from Yvonne Raley. These are her pictures:
Yvonne Raley Pic 2.jpg

Here are my pictures. The first is indoors under my sparkly bathroom lights (LED??)
Hauyne Sparkle Lights.jpg
These next two are outside in bright and shaded sunlight.

The color is intense and gorgeous, especially outdoors. Very hard to capture how pretty and how intense the hue is in real life. Neither my pics nor the vendor photos do it justice. Biggest downside is that 3mm is so darn tiny! They are not overly sparkly, either. And of course, they are price-y.

A 1.09 Mahenge garnet from Jeff Davis. It's darker in person and more purple-y but beautifully cut and a lot more dispersive than I expected.

His picture:

V36q0B4YRNeNtnWW3YE+vw.jpg It has been overcast and raining here so I have not taken many pictures of my latest gem. And by now you all I know that I cannot take a decent picture. Here is my unheated, untreated ruby from The Gemstone Project. Elle was so patient and kind and a pleasure to work with.

I'm sooo Elated!!! I absolutely am in love with this 3.96ct precision pear cut.
12 x 9.4 x 7 mm deep
I'm not sure if its "top" color for Afghan tourm. But I'm head over heels in love with the color and cut!!!

Its being sent directly to jeweler to be set so I wont see irl for a few weeks.37475.jpg 37473 (1).jpg 38027.jpg

Ok, this is the third time I'm posting a purchase on the same page of this thread, but this was my last loose gemstone purchase of the year. This is my first emerald purchase ever, and it's small but mighty. 3.15mm , Afghani emerald, minor treatment if any. I got this one from Enhoerning Jewelry. First, vendor pictures (still taken from her YouTube video listed here.

Now the couple of pictures I took.

Hoping to set this in a stacker! Much more brilliant than my pictures suggest. I'm definitely very happy to have a nice emerald, even if it's tiny! :P2

Neon blue tourmaline from Bayato on IG:
Next up is the indicolite / blue tourmaline that was described as a ‘neon blue tourmaline’. 8.6mm, 3.61 ct from Oyo mine (Nigeria - I think).

Yellow tourmaline from Seda gems. My color isn’t so accurate. Irl it’s a bit more yellow than what my pics are showing.
The tourmaline is 2.97 ct measuring 9.39 x 7.98 x 5.89, and fitted nicely into a 10x8 standard setting.

Vendor pic:

And mine - it’s a tad more yellowish irl but can’t seem to get the color right.

Zircon from Riouxrocks on IG. It’s a bit darker irl than vs my pics. His pic is a tad darker than irl. Hope that makes sense.
Vendor description:
5.29 carat blue Zircon in elongated square cushion
Diameter:8.42x7.63x6.95mm
Square cushion elongated/cut cornered with step cut pavilion. Nice saturated! medium blue color.

From this thread. Am a little lazy to type a new post so quoted the relevant extracts.

Umbalite from Precision Gem long time ago. It is about 8x8mm. I recently have it set.

Thanks a beauty!!! Congrats!!

love the 2 stones i just got - 2 tourmalines.

2.84 ct lagoon blue tourmaline from brume. it is a beautiful seafoamy green in real life. he has some really lovely tourmalines. he shipped out the stone the next day and it arrived in 3 days from nigeria to texas.

(^ adjusted the light some to show how the green looks to me in real life)

next is a 3ct peach-pink tourmaline from josh of riouxrocks. josh was incredibly helpful in sending many pictures as i was deciding between 2 stones. the cut is so beautiful IRL and so hard to capture in pictures. it looks hot pink indoors under warm light. the pictures don’t do it justice, and i’m now a big fan of josh and michelle (mvmgems)

i had to adjust the light to show how it looks like to me IRL. it’s peach outdoors and pink indoors. the 2 hand pics for josh are the most accurate IMO.

I keep promising Josh I'm going to buy a mahenge garnet from him, his stones look great! Do you feel like the video is true to what you see? That peachy pink is yummy!

his video is accurate of what it looks like in the sunlight (not direct). i had a whole bunch of questions for him and basically told him i wanted a peach more than a pink with peach. he was great about telling me which stone fit my description best.

I bought this 9x7 blue zircon from Pristine Gemstones on Etsy. Waited over a week to get this from Canada. I am "meh" about it. Yes looks kinda like pic, but in hand kind of lacks brilliance. I only ordered because I needed a specific size, should I return? Maybe I need to find a different 9x7....
Seller photo, then mine in different lighting.

it is accurate but you’re right - it does look like it’s not as brilliant. looks more included than the vendor pic? (i can’t really tell and i’m looking at it from my phone) if you feel meh about it, i’d return it. Gemfix and Mastercutgems both have some nice looking blue zircons (i’m looking for one myself).
https://www.mastercutgems.com/Produ...ral_Blue_Zircon_6_84_carat-Gem.php?FromPage=1
looks similar to the round zircon which there is a video for: https://www.mastercutgems.com/Produ...ral_Blue_Zircon_5_90_carat-Gem.php?FromPage=1

Your bottom right and top two left look enough alike to the condor pic -on my screen- that I don’t think it’s that greatly different in color.
However - those same three pics look like it has an abraded and chipped girdle? Can you see if that’s the case or just me seeing something that’s not there?
If so - I’d return on that alone.
But yeah - if you don’t like it anyways, return.

Thanks @fantapanda and @Rfisher ! I'm sending it back. I thought it looked chipped too! And used 10x this am and see black inclusions! I just got my dream zircon from Jeff White and this looks so bad in comparison. I just need a 9x7 for a specific setting. Think I'm going to look at aquamarine instead. Thanks for your input!

Finally decided on a sapphire! Thank you PS-ers for helping me choose :D

Purchased from thegemcollector, a Hong King based seller I found through Etsy/Instagram before we started chatting on WeChat. She was wonderful to work with and very patient with my pickiness lol. I also chatted w/a lot of other sellers in Hong Kong, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, and even discovered a gemstone/jewelry mall in Shanghai during my search!
