Leonid.
Thank you for the thumbtack.
I am honored, really.

How many people get a thumbtack?
Sincerely, I can think of no acknowledgement that holds greater REAL weight in the year 2005 than an unsolicited thumbtack from the owner of a respected Internet forum.

Love is where you find it.

I agree that you are talented, Kenny. The door knob is my favorite painting, as it is the favorite of several other posters. I think that the reason I like it so much is that is gives you a chance to showcase your eye for detail. The grain of the wood, the facets of the glass in the doorknob, and the texture of the metal all give you a place to show what you can do: really look. I feel that of the few pieces you posted here, your best work is on the doorknob because it is so close. The picture of the fisherman is lovely; it is evocative. It shows where you can go with emotion. But when you paint up close, you use your ability to separate color so that the picture comes alive. Keep at it!!!

PS-Your use of color is key. You use it to evoke peace on the water with the fisherman; in the other pictures you use it to light up the object from within. The doorknob glows from the color you saw.

That fisherman in the canoe is so smooth and wonderful, your eye really follows his fishing line. Wow...really lovely.

Kenny,
I had to find out who this "size bigot" was ... but you really took the piss out of me with these paintings. Amazing work and a great story. I hope you''re enjoying each day of your new journey. I''m a freelance writer myself and chose to do what I love with lack of stability and fluctuating income as the consequence - but my dad always said to get an education & then do what you love. He''s a mechanical engineer and turned down promotion after promotion, & corporate gig after corporate gig to stay actually DOING engineering instead of managing other engineers. We had fewer material comforts because of it (and there were 6 of us kids soaking up the limited resources) ... but I think the greatest gift he could give to us was a happy, satisfied father. I''m not planning on kids myself, but I do plan to be an example to the nieces & nephews of the road less traveled. Sounds like you''re treading a similar path. I''ll agree to disagree on my much, much wanted 1.5 ct, VVSI H rock, especially if you''ll sell me a painting! -- deco

Thanks for the kind words.
But wouldn't I be the *opposite* of a size-bigot, prefering a smaller size for a given budget?

(Actually if I am any kind of bigot it would be a car bigot - I have a hybrid and go through a lot of trouble every day to get 20 MPG *above* the EPA etimate.)

Almost everyone wants the largest diamond they can afford.
My opinions and priorities about size are the exception to the norm.
That is why I speak up.
I like to explore the areas in which I differ.
It is interesting.

Outstanding Work Kenny...

My favorite picture is the fisherman in the canoe although the crystal door knob speaks volumes on your ability to create very detailed work..Stunning
