I''m getting boudoir pics too! I''m doing a calender from August 2008 (we''re getting married on the 23rd) to August 2009 and putting in all the dates that means something to us. Most of the shots will have a pin up ''50''s feel. I''m lucky that the best man''s gf is a fantastic photog and I was actually her first model for boudoir shots! she''s a wedding photog so now she does boudoir for all her brides, it''s really great!

At first I was going to get him a nice watch, and have it engraved with the wedding date. But, when we were shopping for our wedding bands he basically said he didn''t want a fancy watch, would rather wear a fossil. Now, I decided that a fossil watch is not my idea of a WEDDING present, so I had to do some more thinking. He then saw a pocket watch at a jewelry store and thought it was such a cool idea to have something like that to "pass down to his kid" some day.

SOOO.... I decided to do a 3 part gift:
1. Slippers (in case he gets cold feet)
2. a pocket watch (to get him to the ceremony on time)
3. a new humidor with his favorite cigars inside (for when it''s all over)

This is the pocket watch, which I got through a wholesale vendor. I had his last initial engraved on the front, and then "timing is everything 4-12-08" on the back.

This is humidor, it will have our last name of course,

Hope that gives you some ideas

ps. I LOVE the b-pics idea, but didn''t get around to doing it... I think it will have to wait for our first valentines/anniversary/some reason down the road. Motivation to stay in shape I guess

I love your idea Happy!!! You got me thinking about the pocket watch idea as my FI has talked about that before too!

I''m giving him boudoir pics, that is, if the photographer who took them will ever send me the CD. I wanted to do something else, like a pocket watch or something, but his wedding band cost waaaaaay more than I planned on spending so that''ll have to count as part of his gift.

He''s getting me the perfume I''ll wear in the wedding -- I''ve requested Vera Wang Truly Pink.

We plan on giving each other gifts. I want him to give me my wedding day jewelry. Sigh, I have no idea what to get him!
32.gif
Glad I have a long time to think about it . . . I don''t want to get him like..a video game on our wedding day. That just seems silly. Maybe I''ll get him a precious moments figure or something. Or make him a scrapbook. Oh I know, I like the idea of the people that make a book that tells the story of how they met! Usually that''s for engagements, but I''ll give him that if I can do it!

I am planning on buying a watch for my FI. Question is, what kind...
33.gif

I am kind of in the same boat. A watch seems to be the first thought, but like HinLove said, he likes his Fossil watch I got for his bday a few years back and actually doesnt wear it much if he is working, so I''d feel like a fancy watch would be a waste. Sentiment and passing on perhaps, but I would like to get him something he could actually use. And inexpensive would be nice too. I actually got him an engagement gift, because I felt like he should get something to mark the occasion as well (besides getting me

), so I''m kinda stuck. I may have outdone myself too soon haha.

Splitshank,
I had a hard time figuring this out too. I bought him the set of golf clubs he''d been wanting as an engagement present, which wasn''t a problem back then, before the wedding somehow sucked my bank account almost dry
14.gif

I just started paying close attention to things he would check out while we were shopping/internet surfing/talking about things and then I was reading something on the knot about a girl knitting her FI socks for the cold feet and it just all came together for me, he''s been wanting slippers since he hates walking barefoot on our hardwood floors, so I think it will be sort of a funny part of the gift. I am a little bummed that I know he wont use the pocket watch often, but I know he will be excited to have it.
My biggest problem is usually that he will say he wants something and then before I can get him a gift he has already bought it!! Luckily we''ve both slowed our spending lately, so I don''t have to worry about that this time!

Do you have any thoughts yet?

D and I have set a budget for €1000 each for a wedding gift. I''m going to get jewellery (not sure what yet) and so far I have a couple of ideas for D. For part of his groomsman gifts, he''s getting them and adventure day out car racing, so I''m going to get him a voucher for that day too, I''m thinking maybe cufflinks and this one fishing rod that he''s been looking at for ever!

He is the same way!! But now with the planning and expenses in full gear (3 months from tomorrow!) he all of a sudden realizes that toys will have to wait for awhile. He is a huge hunter, and his engagement gift was a Swarovski spotting scope (a handheld telescope-type device if you will) which apparently made me a goddess in the eyes of his hunting buddies. I would love to get him binoculars, these two things are very high quality so I know it will last him a very very long time. But as mentioned, the fund are running out of the checkbook fast these days! He would be very satisfied with anything, but you only get to do it once!

On the subject, he wants to know what he can get me... we just got my bands made and I said having the second band is more than enough but apparently he doesnt think so. I know you all think I must be crazy for not going for it, I just think we could use the money for other things ... just a thought.

I''m getting him:

- A pair of gold cufflinks with a monogram I have designed for him hand engraved onto them.
- An antique 15ct gold watch chain for the gold pocket watch that his father gave him for his 21st

(oh and a VERY expensive custom mokume gane wedding ring...)

He is giving me jewellery - 2.2tctw round sphene studs and a 3.70ct fat oval sphene pendant, Richard Homer picked them out for me at Tucson and they are in Wink''s safe till I make my mind up on the setting.

I''m getting married a week from Saturday, but I gave FI his gift last week. I got him an 80 gig ipod because he''s a huge music freak and is the only person I know who didn''t have an mp3 player. I wanted him to be able to pick out the model and color he wanted. He totally loves it.

He''s having our jeweler make me a necklace out of the rock that he is using for his own ring. It''s a rock we found on the shore of Loch Ness on the day we got engaged. It won''t be done by the wedding, but I''m still looking forward to seeing it!

i have no clue what to get my hubby-to-be... our wedding is on may 3rd, that''s only like 5 weeks away! ah!

haha it would take some serious artistic genius even with photoshop to get me looking good the way that i am now!

Not to play devil''s advocate but I remember hearing "somewhere" on these forums that LIWs would be rather upset/outraged/disappointed/(...) not to get the engagement ring that they imagined ... hmmmm ...
11.gif

I also got 2 wedding bands, and feel a bit, um, greedy for getting a wedding gift too.
38.gif

But, I was in a jewelry store the other day and saw the most delicate charm bracelet and I fell in love with the idea of starting one with a wedding charm, and maybe adding to it when we pop out a few little ones! I''ve always seen chunkier charm bracelets and have never been interested in wearing one, but the one I want is so dainty that I thought with just a few significant charms I would

hmmm.... I do agree, however I think I''d rather get him the fossil watch as an "i love you for no reason" gift instead of a sentimental wedding gift. His point was mainly that he didn''t want me to spend money on a Tag or some brand that means nothing to him, not that he really wanted a Fossil watch as a present.
3.gif

What do men know about watches anyway??? LOL
Seriously, the Fossil watch would not have been a good idea ...

I don''t know. I''m torn. I guess I''m going to have to wait to see how budgetting works out. I want to exchange gifts, but also... I feel like the wedding is OUR gift to ourselves, and that we are giving each other -- well, each other, so there''s that. Don''t know if that makes any sense.

Wow, that is so cool!

How is the jeweller doing it?

That makes total sense to me. We''ve pretty much decided that our honeymoon is our gift to ourselves, so I don''t think we''re going to exchange other gifts. We may decide to treat ourselves to an extra special dinner, etc. while we''re in QC, and that would be nice. I told my FI about the "tradition" of exchanging gifts on one''s wedding day and he had never heard of that before. I''m not sure how traditional this idea is but I like it. I''m secretly hoping to get a sentimental card from him that morning but I can pretty much guarantee that won''t happen. He''s not really into cards.
20.gif
I may send one to him though.

I think we are almost feeling ''obligated'' do give each other something, but I know neilther of us would be disappointed to do away with the tradition, if it is even one. I dont'' think it is worth stressing over $$ wise, especially since we did so much for the engagement gifts and bands. I would still like to get him something little or make him something maybe. I too am secretly hoping for that sappy card and rose or something. But no, I dont expect it to happen!

Way back when we were married, I was a university student with zero cash. We agreed on that basis not to exchange wedding gifts, but then FI went ahead anyway and bought a beautiful set of luggage with my initials cut into the metal parts of each opening device. In his own defence, he said it was a gift to both of us. How sweet and sentimental he was!
30.gif
The irony is that we couldn''t afford to go anywhere until 6 years and two kids later.

Since that time, we made excellent use of that set , but gave it up last year to a friend who was going to Guatemala and needed some way to carry the clothes they were bringing to the less fortunate there. As far as I know, it might still be there.

^^^ That''s a beautiful story
1.gif

I''m getting him titanium cufflinks from Tiffany''s since he has a titanium w-band....that way the metals match!

He is getting me the pin, hair pin, & earrings I will wear that day
36.gif

I am getting him another watch to add to his Rolex collection. He is getting me diamond studs with pave' borders. Both things that have been on our wishlists for a while, so figured what better time to gift them than on our special day.

Hmm...how do I let FI know he should be thinking about getting me a wedding gift? He never actually buys me any of the jewelry I really want (thank goodness he let pick my rings!) and when I send him a wish list for special occasions, he tends to ignore them. I could only hope he would consider getting a card, at least, but I doubt that''s going to happen!

I already got him an engraved watch for his engagement gift, so that''s out.

I considered getting him a beautiful firefighter''s ax with our names and wedding date engraved on it, but I can''t really get that to Maui, so may save that for an anniversary gift.

Happy-I love your ideas! I thought of the slipper thing, but when he was sick last month, he went and bought himself a pair! Argh! I can''t knit, either! (I did get him some new water socks to wear in the ocean...can you think of a saying to go with those???)
9.gif

I considered getting him an I-Pod Shuffle and loading it up with our wedding cd songs and about 480 more for him to take to the gym. They can be engraved with a few words on the back, but it is so limited, I have no idea what I would put!

He mentioned getting his guys pocket watches, but he rarely wears the one I got him, so I highly doubt a pocket watch would get any use...it would be more of a novelty item, I suppose.

I would love to do something clever about cold feet, time, etc...

Keep the great ideas coming, everyone!

(i''ll preface with saying sorry to thread jack!!)Happy in Love -- where did you see the delicate charm bracelet you mentioned? that sounds so sweet! is there a website? thanks!!!!
