What a great looking team Kimberly and I''m sure raising the tennis shoes to the sky was quite touching. Good job!! One question (well actually two), are you pictured with your team and if you are which one are you?
I am and I am the one on the far right. I look like a boy in every picture we took with my hair pulled back and tucked into the baseball cap. Too funny! All the other girls got up early to put on make up, that is so not me, at least not when exercising! I showered in the evenings, rolled out of bed, braided my hair, through on some shorts and a t-shirt and was ready to roll.
Well at look at your svelte self!! You look like you were having a lot of fun!!!

went to the gym tonite, did about an hour and 10 minutes and burned 630 calories. dinner was chicken rosemary and wild rice from trader joes (yum i love it) and then grandma made us a bit of potato salad (gotta love grandma''s potato salad) and rice, so i mixed in some of her rice with the wild rice and had a little bit of potato salad too. yummy!! i was going to have a green salad with the dinner, but i had the potato in leiu. the pumpkin pie is gone but we have a slice of choco pecan pie left (sinful!) so i think we''ll share another small slice of that. i actually looked up pumpkin pie for calories and all that and one slice is about 350ish calories (there were a ton of stats so i took a high-ish estimate since this WAS from a bakery so i doubt they skimped!) and we each had half last nite..so not too bad for a yummy dessert. tonite we''ll share the pecan. other than the pie, my eating habits today were great again. i got a nonfat gingerbread latte from starbucks (my serious weakness all holiday season!) and only ended up having half, i was so busy at work. hated to waste it but on the other hand i was saved like 90 calories by only having half.
2.gif
oh and the scale registered that those two weird lbs are gone again, so i''m back to the range i was in before. i''m trying to be pretty good this week (keeping my cals about 200 per day under what i was consuming before) to make up for a bit of last week. then i''ll regulate again.

anyway, kimberly thanks for posting your picture of your team, it''s awesome and you look very fit, chickadee!! rod, kudos on the workout, miss appletini, congrats on the workout...hope everyone else had a wonderful day!

Thanks for the welcome, everyone!

I definitely need to be planning better. I think I''m sort of stuck in a rut, foodwise. I''ve gotten into the habit of thinking everything is going to take an hour to prepare if it''s not cooked in the microwave. Fortunately, my parents will be here next week for Thanksgiving, so my mom will do all the cooking. Yeay! (Unfortunately, when my mom hears the word ''holiday'', she lets all her normally healthy eating habit go out the window. She''s already ordered a blueberry pie!)

Today for breakfast I had my normal 2 egg whites, blueberries, and cottage cheese with a carton of skim milk and a cup of green tea. For dinner, I had a south beach diet pizza (~350 calories) and a small pack of frozen corn (~120 cal). I just finished off a cup of Italian wedding soup (that was the dregs of the pot...no meatballs!
29.gif
), a small salad with balsamic vinaigrette, and some soy chips. With more green tea.

Mara - I wish I had a Trader Joes near me! They don''t have them here, and I miss that store terribly. The pizza you have sounds just as easy as these silly microwave ones, but probably healthier.

Haven''t much time to post, but I wanted to say

Great Legs Kimberly!

I do love the picture of the shoes. It''s a very beautiful sentiment.
Must run, will post later. Hope all are well.

Tybee

Congrats Kimberley - you look great! That was a lovely gesture with the shoes.

Sounds like you are doing well on the food front Basil!

I am off to hop on the treadmill now, back in a bit
16.gif

I was up again today (for the third time this week
1.gif
) and did another 2 miles! I''m starting slow but steady. I''m also trying to eat a little healthier - I''m having oatmeal for breakfast, and the FI and I have been juicing regularly again (our mix of apples, lemons, limes, kale, and romaine is quite yummy , and amazingly healthy if anyone is interested). I''m REALLY feeling great and definitely more awake. I''m so glad I''ve been able to get back in the gym!! Thanks so much for the support everyone! Logging every day has definitely been helpful.

Kimberly - that shoe picture is awesome! Are you planning on framing it and putting it up...such a conversation starter (and with such incredible meaning).

Rod - Good luck in the continuing buying/selling...its always so damn frustrating during that waiting period!

Mara (and all you other Starbucks addicts) - My starbucks weakness is a vanilla chai latte (grande usually)...I recently discovered that by using the non-fat milk, it tastes the same and saves me 60 calories plus 7 grams of fat. I don''t know if that''s what you do but I pulled this info from the starbucks site. Its REALLY crazy how many calories are in one of those things. So if you want to have your treat...and save a few calories go nonfat milk no whip and its not SO bad...

Chai Latte (nonfat milk) 230 calories, no fat
Chai Latte (whole milk) 290 calories, 7 g. fat
Gingerbread latte (nonfat milk/no whip) 240 calories
Gingerbread latte (nonfat milk/ whip) 340 calories 9 g. fat
Gingerbread latte (whole milk/no whip) 330 calories 13 g. fat
Gingerbread latte (whole milk/ whip) 430 calories 22 g. fat

The crazy thing is I used to be totally obsessed with Jamba Juice until I found out how many calories are in those things. A few of my favorites (original size):

Green Tea Match: 440 calories
32.gif

Bright Eyed & Blueberry: 380 calories
Razzmataz: 480 calories

kimberely: thanks so much for sharing the pictures! i totally am in agreement about rolling out of bed
9.gif
i can''t understand wearing makeup to workout...the shoe picture is incredibly touching!!

lorelei: it sounds like you are feeling better! hope so

rod: my husband loves panera! unfortunately for him, he no longer lives by one...good news about the positive condo reception.

I went to the gym last night and did 45 minutes on the elliptical. i wonder if other people there think i''m strange. i say this because i''m a wee bit competitive, so every day i try to go a little bit further or burn a few more calories within roughtly the same time. that means that i''m really pushing hard and sweating up a storm. most of the other gym goers are far more laid back in their cardio endeavors. for instance, last night, i even tried to take it a bit slower, but by minute 6, i had really ramped up the pace.

in good news, i made it to my mini weight goal.
9.gif
i was pretty excited about the accomplishment. i began working out consistently around the end of november 2005 - so i''m nearly to my one year mark and back to my college body by losing over 25 lbs. it''s amazing to think that i had really slipped that much and in only a couple of years...

it feels great to know that i''m back into shape. and my commitment to working out has definately motivated my husband. he was already fit, but is working on tone and muscle building. it''s really nice to know that we are working towards a good healthy lifestyle.

Hey Lulu - congrats on hitting your goal!!!!

yay lulu, you go girl!! that''s wonderful. doesn''t it feel fabulous to be able to say you''re back to your college body? i think the last time i wore this size was back right after college. and my high school prom dress actually FITS (haha i tried it on) but it''s just a little tight on the bust and butt. lol!

scarlet, i totally look up everything on the starbucks website too and other websites. i do get a tall non-fat gbread latte with no whip. and it does taste basically the same as the 2% just a little thinner which is fine cuz it''s not supposed to be a ''dessert''. i think the tall is about 180 calories, i think what you posted is the grande. also there are other calorie charts for sbucks all over the net. calorie-count.com has a bunch of brand name foods (i think that''s the link). gbread is one of the higher caloried flavored lattes. vanilla is only like 140 and pumpkin spice was 160. but i love the gbread and they only have it during the holidays so i just try to have like 2-3 a week and only have 1/2 - 3/4 and then i get the taste i wanted. really i don''t NEED all those extra milk calories. hehee.

anyway i feel kind of sore today which is good. breakfast was some flax protein/fiber cereal with a bit of honey bunches of oats to jazz it up a bit and a handful of fresh raspberries thrown in.

so thanksgiving is just around the corner. how is everyone thinking of doing that day (and resulting days after with leftovers?!). i decided i am just going to stick with my daily workout schedule, basically working out every day next week EXCEPT thanksgiving (so 6 days) and that way i will be able to eat whatever i darn well please and know it''s not doing any long-term damage. hehee. i could probably still just do 5 days but i figure why not, i will have the time off so might as well just push through. the gym is open every day but thanksgiving anyway. plus part of what i love about thanksgiving is the FOOD. i''m such a foodie. i ordered our free-range turkey yesterday from whole foods (we get a small 8 lb) and we make a bit of everything on wed night and then have a pre-thanksgiving meal just greg and i together. then on thursday, there''s a big family thing that we go to and i bring 2-3 things. so we have leftovers from that and leftovers from our own turkey (mmm ''turkey hash'' on friday morning with hash browns and eggs is the best!) and of course we have leftovers of PIE so we are typically eating thanksgiving food til monday when we go back to work. but i love it. so i indulge. i adore stuffing and mashed taters too.
9.gif
but hey you gotta splurge sometimes. and i figure as long as i am burning the calories so as to keep at a pretty even range under my ideal intake or at least around it...i''ll be fine. how about everyone else?

Morning All!

Thanks for all the kind compliments, again! So sweet of all of you. You guys really did encourage me to be prepared.

Lulu: Congratulations! That''s such a great accomplishment!

scarlet: I think I will frame it, along with a few other shots. When we first heard what we were supposed to do most people said "eeew" because our feet stunk, but when it was time it was actually a really cool thing.

Rod: I wouldn''t say I''m svelte; I am built like my father, a bit on the short and stocky side, I just do my best with what I''ve given to work with!

Tybee: You''re so cute. I hope you had a great run.

Mara: Glad the two lbs. are gone, even 2 can be a really downer.

So we did a bit of shopping yesterday and by the time we were done my left shin was killing me. More yoga, less walking seems to be the order of the day.

Hey all you healthy PSers,

Does anyone have one of those scales that measures body fat? Apparently it sends electrical signals thru you and then it measures the time it takes for them to return? and they move slower thru fat than lean body mass? anyway, this sounds like pretty good way to keep track of your progrss if your trying to lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, but maybe just a scale alone is fine? I don''t even have a scale, b/c I think that I got mad and threw it away one time when I had been exercising alot more than usu for like a week and the scale didn''t move.

so, I was thinking of getting one of these scales instead. any comments, reccommendations?

also, Mara, what is this that the polar HRM can tell you how many calories you''re burning? is this is special feature that only some of them have, or do you need to make some calculation based on HR information it gives you?

thanks!

nejarb...the polar F6 just calculates your calorie burn for you based on how long you work out and your heart rate for your age and weight. you don''t have to do anything...just ''start'' for exercise then ''stop'' when you are done and it tells you calories burned. i find it''s like 95% accurate to the machines. sometimes the machines tell me a few more cals than the HRM. i typically use the HRM calories burned for my tracking since i figure it''s more accurate.

i also get my body fat measured at the gym. i used to do the scale thing when i was younger and i was never quite sure how accurate it was.

Hi everyone!

I finally have some time to post and I''ve been wanting to join your healthy club
2.gif

So let me tell you a little bit about me (weight/fiteness related). For me saying "I''m back at my college weight" would be awful!!!!!
6.gif
...hehe, so I''m different in that perspective. When I came to the US to go to College I gained a LOT of weight (a LOT, in CAPS, not the usual 12 lbs!). I guess my body was not used to all the extra hormones, etc that is used on foods here...and yes, I did eat more...but I think it was more of a hormonal change. Anyway, I decided to get myself back in shape and lost all the weight and have kept it off.

Since then I''m very careful about my eating habits but was never too consistent with exercise. Then about 2.5 years ago I bought my dog and started walking everyday (not for exercise, but because I wanted my doggie to be healthy!). After a year I had dropped another 10 lbs (just by walking...so that took me to 2 lbs less than what I weighed in High School!). I would walk everyday, bike most on the weekends and do videos at home...but wasn''t really too consistent with the videos!.

So about 4-5 months ago I joined the gym and have been VERY GOOD at going at least 4 times/week and keeping my daily walks just the same. It feels great!....I haven''t seen huge changes in my body, but that''s ok...I know it will require another 6 months for me to see the changes I want to see.

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and officially introduce myself here

Hi Nejarb!

I have a Tanita scale that I ordered from Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0009V1YPU/102-7509747-2835327
I had never owned a scale before, but my FI was complaining that he wanted to be able to weigh himself (he is an outdoors runner, while I go to a gym ~ so when I (rarely) weighed myself I just weighed myself at the gym).

Any way, since it was a gift I decided to get one that also measures body fat. I did a small amount of research, and it seemed that the Tanita scales were pretty good for the price (I remember looking at a number of reviews on epinions). I ended up getting the above model because of the price (when I ordered it was only $40, so cheaper than it is now) and because I liked that it stored info for two people ~ which worked for me and my FI.

I don''t really know how accurate it is, but my guess is that these things could probably have a 5% error or so. I actually had a DEXA scan done fairly recently for a research project (the ''gold standard'' of body fat measurement apparently), and my body fat was about 26% and my scale usually measures me at about 21% --- so that 5% error seems about right. Caliper measurements can also be used to measure body fat(this is often one way they measure body fat at the gym) ~ but there is a lot of error in that as well (how well the person doing the test places the calipers, etc.). Caliper measurements usually tell me I''m leaner than I really am.

The scales measure total body water, so if you''re dehydrated or something, the measurements can be skewed.

All that being said, I like my scale, and it has worked well for the year that we have had it.
For the body fat, I don''t use the numbers for their absolute value (i.e. I don''t really view that my body fat is 22% if that is what the scale says) ... but it is a way to track my progress (the numbers are going down versus up).

Way to go, lulu!!! That''s great! I, too, gained weight after college ~ more-so around my mid-twenties. Once I started really working out, I lost about 15 pounds which put me at my weight when I started college. I remember that felt really good (for my body as well as my psyche)! So, congrats! I''ve been consistent with my workouts for over 3 years now, and have lost an additional 5 pounds or so. I haven''t weighed this little since high school!!! Crazy! But I feel great, and probably am the healthiest I''ve ever been.

Lulu,
That''s great about your goal! I love to hear that you are competetive and compete against yourself, that''s awesome. I compete against anyone who is near me, that''s crazy, right? I can''t help myself.

I had to laugh when ya''ll started talking about reaching your college weight. I hope I NEVER weigh my college weight again. I was a little beer swilling puffy faced porker in the old college days. I am close to my high school weight, though... although my hips have definitely spread

Mara, you asked about Thanksgiving, I''m completely stoked. New Husband and I are having our first Thanksgiving in our new house. We''ve invited his mother (heaven help us!) and WE"RE roasting the bird! I''ll do most food prep on Wednesday, because our race is Thanksgiving morning, crack-o-dawn. All that runniing will be our ticket to CHOW down. I"ll probably hit the gym on Friday, Saturday and Sunday as well, doing alternating exercises to give the legs and knees a break.
The only worry is that I''m not a very "seasoned'' cook... MIL is a southern belle, and I''m a loud northerner, we have different tastes, but wine is the great equaliizer.

Hey Those of you who work out at night, how long between your work out and your sleep time? I used to find that I couldn''t sleep if I worked out at night, but now I''m finding that it''s harder and harder to get to the gym when it''s not heavy traffic time with my teaching schedule. I really miss my long regular gym workouts, and reading all your posts makes me jealous (it''s good to have workout envy!)
Sadly, I leave my house before 7:00 am, and usually don''t get home until 5:00.
I can never get myself to the gym before work, and after, it''s a zoo... sometimes I just grin and bear it, because I know I need to mix up my workouts, but I HATE waiting to workout.

Tybee

I do my yoga routine about an hour before going to bed. The work out actually helps me sleep... But I know everyone''s different on that.

i am totally not a morning workout person at all. if i hit up the gym it''s around 5pm. kickboxing is at 7pm. on the weekends i do kbox inn the morning at 9am (no choice!!) and sundays i go to the gym around 3pm so that i can be home by 5:30 and we can shower and make dinner and relax a bit before the week starts again!!

i find working out in the evening lets me actually sleep better!! i am WAY more tired when i get home after pushing myself at the gym or during a class. i can barely make dinner, sit on the couch and eat and watch TV for a few hours!

First, WELCOME MANDARINE!!! Glad you''ve decided to join us and hope you enjoy the great group of people on this thread.

Hey Lulu!! Congratulations on meeting your weight goal!! Woo Hoo!!

Mara: Thanksgiving and Christmas are two days we don''t worry so much about calories. We''re cooking a traditional dinner. Just the two of us this year, but we''ll have a whole fresh turkey, stuffed with sage stuffing. I usually bake a loaf of fresh bread (bread maker of course), we have real mashed potatoes and use real butter and milk. We''ll have a vegetable like carrots cooked in butter and cinnamon. We don''t go crazy and have lot''s of additional dishes. I make my own home made giblet gravy and Charlie will make a pumkin pie, but I call it cinnamon pie with pumkin. If the recipe calls for 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon, he puts in like 3 tablespoons full. Sometimes it''s a little over spiced, but he loves it and I compliment it none-the-less. We will likely work out on Thanksgiving, even if it''s just a run or the elliptical. We do leftovers on Friday night, then the turkey and gravy are turned into home made turkey vegetable soup. Anyway, that''s they way we typically do it. For Christmas, we don''t do poultry or beef. We have steamed Maine lobsters!! I look more forward to my lobster than the gifts!

I worked out hard this afternoon. Normal stuff, so I won''t go on about it. I just heard from our realtor and it looks like we''ll be making another offer on the condo, but it''s an offer the developer has already said he would agree to, so I guess we''re going to make it work. It''s a good deal for both of us, but doesn''t include the developer making any of the changes we wanted (like upgrading appliances or replacing carpet with wood). Instead, the developer is just going to give us a check for $60,000 (yep $60K) at closing and we can do whatever we want with the money.

Hope everyone has a nice evening!

Instead of yoga DH and I drove to a local park that is flat and walked around for about 20 minutes. I started stretching and doing so basic yoga poses and my shin didn''t seem to happy, so that was that! The walk felt great, the weather is beatiful.

Mandarine: WELCOME!!

As for t-day, it is not at all my favorite holiday in regards to food so I''m not worried about it. I don''t love turkey or pumpkin pie (I typically skip dessert all together as I''m not a fan of pie in general, with a few exceptions, of course) so I eat small amounts of the things I love (mashed potatoes and stuffing) and lots of veggies.

We''re having stir fry tonight from a CL recipe. I''m using top sirloin and it calls for cherry tomatoes and green beans along with a low fat sauce. We''ll have salad and I''ll serve it over rice. YUMMY!

Hope everyone is having a great day.

Rod: It sounds like good news about the condo. It isn''t exactly what you hoped for but better than no condo at all for sure!

oh i LOVE thanksgiving. well i love food so that's no surprise. since last year we made our own small turkey, i love it now. plus i can experiment with all types of things food. which is fun. i might try a new stuffing recipe this year...but last year it was pretty good as well.

i forgot we are working out on thanksgiving! we are doing the turkey trot with my family. my dad and greg are running the 10k. my mom is running the 5k. and my sister and i are walking the 5k together. so that's something! at least it will get the heart rate up...perk! i typically do the walk pretty fast so i will probably burn about 200 cals since it's a flat incline. nothing impressive but hey it's an extra slice of pumpkin pie!
31.gif

i love thanksgiving food so much i eat all the leftovers for every meal basically. last year i had stuffing and mashed potatoes mixed together for lunch for like 3 days in a row during the week. and we ate all our turkey breast...but left most of the dark meat (though greg swore he'd eat it this year...i don't like dark meat) and the pie leftovers. and we also end up bringing home stuff from the family get together. so it's a fun filled eating fest. i am sure i gained 5 lbs last year but i was not working out, i was just walking like ~8 miles a week on a flat incline. and i definitely know now that doesn't cut it for my body!

anyhow, tonite is an off night for workouts. today was a weird hodgepodge of eating. i was still pretty good though. breakfast was the flax/oat cereal with coffee. then i was going to have a gbread latte but my boss got all mixed up and thought i didn't want one so i had like 1/4 of hers. so that worked out cuz i didn't want a lot anyway, just a tastey-taste. then i had a bit of grandma's rice and the rest of the potato salad for lunch (which wasn't much), and 4.5 oz of blueberries (that's a whole container, they are so tiny). then i was hungry about 2 hours later..so i had a 10 calorie jello cup snack, and a 1/2 a luna bar split with my coworker. and then right before i left i was hungry again (man!) so i had a serving and a half of wasabi peas. which i probably didn't really need since that was like 120 calories right there. but whatever. anyway, tonite we are having fresh ground lean turkey tacos with taco seasoning and onions on white corn tortilla and topped with fresh diced tomatoes and a bit of low-fat sour cream. YUM. i can't wait..i have been thinking about them all day. oh and we'll finish off grandma's rice.
9.gif
we both LOVE grandma's rice!! and it's not bad for you since she basically just uses chicken broth and some tomatoes to cook it. hehe. oh and we have like 1/2 a slice of pumpkin pie in the fridge left...the last of the pies from the wkd. so we'll split that. and amazingly all of that food today is still going to be under my caloric intake.

so hope everyone is having a great night. tomorrow is the gym for me after work and then we are meeting some friends for yummy cajun/creole food for dinner.

welcome mandarine, im glad you found us over here!! and rod, sorry to hear the offer acceptance wasn't EXACTLY what you wanted but i can think of worse things than ending up with $60k in your pocket when all is said and done! upgrade?!?! hee.

Actually, the upgrades we wanted will not add up to $60K, so while we have to make the changes ourselves after closing, we''ll also be able to pocket some money. I guess that''s not bad at all!

Mandarine ~ Welcome!

Rod ~ sounds like you''re getting a decent deal! Hope everything works out!

So, I realize I forgot to post yesterday''s workout -- I did a one-hour total body strengthening class (if you asked me to count how many lunges and squats we did, I would probably cry!) following by 45 minutes of walking at 4mph on the treadmill at a decent incline (following Mara''s advice) ~ I felt the burn! Tonight was a 1-hour step circuit class.

Tybee -- During the week I work out immediately after work ~ usually that means I start my exercise at 5:15 or 5:30. The end time varies, but the lastest is about 7:30 -- and I go to bed around 11:00 or so. I don''t find that working out at night affects my sleep ~ like Mara, I think it usually makes me more tired so I sleep better. I used to be a morning workout person, but I really like doing cardio later in the day. In the AM I was OK at strength training, but I never pushed myself with the cardio.
Does your gym offer any exercise classes, like step aerobics, dance classes, Hi-Lo, etc.? The reason I initially started going to step classes was because the treadmills and ellipticals were really crowded after work, especially right around New Year''s. I decided I didn''t want to wait for an elliptical one day, and headed up to a step class. I had tried it in college and hated it (thought I had NO rhythm or coordination), but after a few classes I ended up really enjoying it and now I''m a stepaholic. Any way, just a thought ....

Hope everyone has a great Friday!

Rod thats great you will have some dosh left after the closing from the cheque!

Sounds like it is all coming together!

Did 30 mins on the treadmill yesterday, I will try to get back into my normal 50 mins today.

Tybee-
I''m definitely a morning exerciser...mostly by necessity. I work full time and go to law school at night so the only time I have during the week is in the mornings. I''m typically up at 5:30 and get to the gym by 6 so I can be home by 7ish. I like the morning workouts because I find that I have A LOT more energy during the day. And on the weekends I study so the most effective thing is to get up, run and then study all day...

I think even if it weren''t such a packed schedule, I''d work out in the mornings though...love that energy rush...

I prefer morning workouts too, it motivates me for the day ahead. However it is a relief now we have the home gym that I don't have to crawl out of bed at 5am to get to the one we used to use...

So my eating habits might be a little different than yours because I''m Spanish...so we have big lunches and little dinners
2.gif
. Except on the weekends, I have small lunches and the big dinners since I usually cook for the BF or we go out to eat. In the mornings I used to only have cereal (Complete, Oat Bran), but starting this week I decided to mix it up to get more protein!.....as I mentioned in my other thread, since I started exercising, my cereal bowls were getting bigger!

So I''m eating only 1/2 cup of cereal/fresh ground flax seed and 1/2cup of orgnic fat free milk and a shake with protein whey, strawberries and I mix it with water and 1/2 cup of organic fat free milk

I usually have lunch at my work''s cafeteria...it''s actually not too bad!. Sometimes they don''t have a healthy option so I grab a salad. Yesterday they had a very lean yankee pot roast so I had that with a side of brocoli and peas...yummy!

. For dinner I just had scrambled eggs (2 whites, one yolk) with half a tomato and a little bit of low fat white cheese. I know that for some of you that''s not a dinner! hehehe...my BF feels the same way!

I went to the Step/Cardio/Weight class. It was good!. I love how now I''m usually on the first row, use the double steps and do the entire class with energy!. I''m also now using the 8lbs instead of the 5lbs for the toning part of the class!. Not too bad considering only 4-5 months ago I was at the back of the class, with a single step and the 3 or 5lbs weights! woo-hoo!

This morning I had teh same for breakfast. I will be going to the 20-20-20 class. I love that class!. It''s usually 20 minutes of rumba (latin dancing), 20 minutes of a "surprise" (kickboxing, step, etc) and 20 minutes of guided stretching or yoga. It''s the best!....at the end of the class they turn the lights off, we all lay down on the floor and relax...and usually stay there longer than we were supposed to..hehe

Happy Friday!

M~

Morning All!

Today I may get in another walk, as long as my shins hold up.

It''s date night so we''ll go out for Thai food and to see Borat. We usually end up eating lots of veggies at our fave Thai place, so I don''t feel too guilty eating there!

morning all!

Thanks so much for the supportive feedback

i was mighty excited to reach my mini-goal, both because i look a whole lot better

, but more importantly, just knowing that at this point in my life, i''m totally in control of being healthy and in shape.

i choose what to eat and how much. i choose whether to get up and exercise or not. and when you make the proper, controlled, dedicated choices, you see results. my results have taken a while, but that is because i''m not too fond of deprevation -- i.e. I love tasty food

. but i''ve figured out a good balance between indulging and control.

welcome mandarine!! so glad to get new people into the thread. but, it''s really scary to hear about the effects of eating *american* food. definately, just another reminder to seek out fresh foods and steer away from the processed stuff! i''d be excited for you to share any of your favorite spanish recipes!!

tybee: i work out in the evenings directly after work. at first, i was totally spent by the time i got home for the evening. but, i''m now much more acclimated to my exercise schedule and even manage to meet friends out during the week from time to time. in the beginning, i attempted a morning routine, but i HATED showering at the gym and trying to get my hair dry when i still hadn''t exactly stopped sweating even though i had already finished showering. yuck.

last night, i did 35 minutes on this new elliptical machine at the gym. it was very demanding. a lot tougher than the other machines. i brought my stuff in to workout again this evening (would be my 4th) but i''m feeling super tired this morning and rather unmotivated. we''ll see.

last night was a tasty shrimp stirfry.
