Okay ladies, I went to Priscilla of Boston today to try on dresses and I''m proud to say that I did NOT buy a dress yet (but I did make an appointment to go back this Sunday with my best friend.)

I tried on a whole slew of dresses and fell head over heels in love with one of them, but I''m going to think about it for a while. And I''m not going to tell you which one I love, you''ll have to guess!

I''d love to get feedback about which dresses you like, I took pictures of several, so settle in, this might take a while!

Anyway, on to the good stuff, the pictures!

First up: Dora

And another of the Dora with a privacy panel in the cleavage area, which I would definitely need!

Carrie

Detail of the hem of the Carrie, it is gorgeous!

Ellie

Ellie from the side, I love the line of it

The ever popular Lia

Tallulah, (which, if I''m honest, I only tried on because my doggy is named Tallulah, but it is actually quite beautiful!)

I don''t remember the name of this style, and I can''t even find it on the website, but it''s gorgeous!

I am sorry if I cut you off before you were finished.
Personally, I love the Carrie and the Tallulah. But here are my thoughts on all of them
I think the dora is not going to provide enough support and it is short waisted which is a style I don''t love
The carrie has support and makes your body look great and it seems to have the best detailing, plus it really pops
The lia and the ellie are lovely but they don''t really pop, plus I like the look of wider skirts on you better which you said you were drawn to in a previous thread
I really like the tallulah and without the sash I think it would be great. I think the tulle is a lovely effect and it is actually even on the bottom!
The last one is nice but I still think it just isn''t as special as some of the others. Just my two cents, but I really do love the carrie.
PS I love the name tallulah, did you name your dog after miss bankhead by any chance?

I''m going to guess the Carrie! You look so happy in it.

Heh. I love love LOVE the Lia on you, especially from the side-but it makes you look like you should be modeling wedding gowns for a living!! My second favorite is the Carrie, that one looks amazing on you too! Although something around the bust line is a little off...but still!! The other ones are gorgeous dresses, but I think those two look best on you.

I''ll guess the Carrie because there are 3 pictures instead of two like the rest of the gowns.

Brazen--I did name my dog after Tallulah Bankhead! People NEVER know who I''m talking about when I say I named her after Tallulah Bankhead, normally they ask me if I named her after a Tori Amos song or Bruce Willis''s daughter. Deco also has a dog named Tallulah after Tallulah Bankhead, small world, huh?
And thank you for all of your feedback about the dresses, I really appreciate it.

Aloros--You''re so right that I look ecstatic in the Carrie, I didn''t realize that until I read your post., how funny!

I''m still not going to reveal my favorite though, partially because I''m second-guessing what I thought in the shop after seeing the pictures, and also because I''d love some honest feedback.

Thanks, ladies!

I''m also voting Carrie because A) It looks fab on you. MUCH nicer than the other dresses IMO and B) You look so happy in it that has got to be the one!

I think you love the Carrie. And I think when it''s fitted to your bust, it''ll be stunning! You have such a nice long and lean line, that you look great in all of the styles, though! But I kind of dislike how a few of them have a severe line that separates the flare from the fit (i.e. Lia and Ellie) and I like the way that Dora and Carrie are fitted through the hips but flare much more gently.

I think mystery dress is the Liliana, in case anyone was wondering or cared. I think it''s my least favorite on you, though.

im not much of a poster but haven i have been following your dress story and had to chime in on this one... i agree with everyone on the carrie...when fitted in the bust lol and i also really like the mystery dress! but i dont think its your favourtie cuz otherwise u probably woulda found out the name!!! i think most of them look great but the carrie really stands out to me as very flattering!

Haven,

I absolutely love the Tallulah on you I think it is very flattering. That said I think the Carrie is your favorite b/c your face just lights up in the pics where you have it on. So get that one and get it fitted! These dresses were all gorgeous though!

Huh, this is tough. You look great in a lot of them. I am actually not such a fan of Carrie on you, because I think the ruffled bodice is too much on your frame. Nor do I like Dora on you...I agree that it makes you look short-waisted. I actually really like Tellulah on you. I think it flatters your waist and bust the most of any of the dresses. My other favorite is the unidentified one (actually called Liliana). Here it is: http://www.melissasweet.com/dress_detail.jsp?gid=21&sfid=1002 I tried that one on a year ago at Melissa Sweet and loved it, but it wasn't flattering on me at all. It is very flattering on you...gives you such a great long slim line, but with amazing detail too. The back is to die for! I also like Lia on you, which surprises me because I don't like it on a lot of people. But it is a very popular gown, which makes me hedge away from it because I like more different things. I am dying to hear you thoughts on them though!

ETA: Okay, after looking more, I definitely like Liliana the most! I wish I looked that good in that dress, because it is one of my all-time favorites. Carrie just seems to be too much dress for your frame...I think that's what is bothering me about it.

I''m such a dork--I keep looking at these pictures over and over again because I just adore all of the dresses. This was a completely different experience than shopping at David''s Bridal, at David''s I hated every single dress except for the one I purchased, and at POB I loved every single dress. I don''t know if it''s just because they''re extremely well-made, or that the styles are just flattering for my specific body type, but it was really very different.

I think it''s so funny how everyone thinks I love the Carrie because of my smile in that one!

Frekechild--Thanks for the compliment about the Lia! It''s so funny you should say that because that dress was tight as can be on me, which is why you can see my belly button through the dress! I WISH I looked like the dress models, when I look at the professional shots on the MS website I think "Oh, THAT''S what this dress is supposed to look like!" All of the samples were size 8, and I''m a size 10 in MS, so none of them zipped up over my bust except the Lia, and that must have been simply because the sample had stretched out.

Hi, Neatfreak! I was just thinking about you because I haven''t seen you around much, but we must just be posting on different threads! Thank you for your feedback, I agree that the Carrie is very different from the others.

Basil--I''m also not in love with the severe line that separates the flare from the fit on some of the styles. Thanks for the info about the Liliana, I could not remember which it was.

Smiles--Thanks for speaking up, it''s good to hear from you! I agree that the bust looks funny on the Carrie, I wonder if it''s supposed to fit closer to the bust?

Ksprincess--Thanks for commenting on the Tallulah, and even more thanks for enabling me to buy a MS!

maybe i''m all alone here, but i think elle is smashing on you. it looks like it was made for you.

All of them are LOVELY, but I LOVE the Carrie on you best. As soon as I saw the photos, I was like, "Oh, that dress looks like it belongs to her even though it doesn''t fit yet."

My second favorite is actually the Tallulah---minus the bow.

Thanks, AceP! I love the way the Ellie fits, too.

Fancy--Thanks for your feedback about the Carrie, I love what you said about it looking like it belongs to me. I agree about the no-bow for the Tallulah.

OKAY, so here are my thoughts on all the dresses:

I actually fell in love with two dresses at the salon--the Dora and the Carrie. However, after looking at pictures my love for the Dora waned very quickly, it just doesn''t look as good on me as I thought it did, and I think the lovely details don''t really show up in photographs. I still have to try them both on again to make sure I like the Carrie better, but the photos really do make the decision a lot easier.

SO, I love the Carrie, which my expression in the photo obviously gave away, anyway! My mother, who loved all of the dresses, said that the Carrie is "whimsical" which makes me love it even more. (I called the dress quirky, and I think "whimsical" was her euphemism for my word.) I do have some concerns about the ruffle on the bust, it definitely needs to be taken in closer to the dress because I think it makes me look imbalanced (and the last thing I need is something that enhances the size of my bust.) In all, I love the details, I love the silk taffeta, and I love the way it looks and feels on! I have concerns about how the straps will look when I have a dress that actually fits, because the one I tried on couldn''t zip up over my bust.

I like the Ellie, but I don''t like the severe line where the dress goes from fit to flare, so that one is out.

I liked the Lia, too, and I was surprised because I thought it would make me look very big in the hip area. It''s just not as special as the Carrie, though, I love that Carrie.

The Tallulah is very flattering, and I love it, but I want something a with a bit more detail and this gown is very simple. It''s so elegant, though, if I was having an evening wedding I think I would very strongly consider the Tallulah.

I think the Lilliana made me look hippy, which I definitely don''t want.

SO, there it is. I love the Carrie. Like I said earlier, though, I honestly loved them all. I couldn''t believe how beautiful these dresses were, it was such a treat to try them all on. NOW I need to figure out if the dress is worth the money to me. I''ll keep you posted!

Any additional suggestions are welcome, girls, I certainly haven''t made any final decisions yet!

I think that the Talulah is the most flattering on you. The sweetheart neckline is also flattering on you. I agree that it would look even better without the sash. I found it on the Melissa Sweet website without the sash here
. The others look great as well and I don't think you can go wrong with any of them!!

ETA: I must have been typing the same time as you. The Carrie does look very nice on you and is very fun! Maybe you could get the Carrie without the straps if that is something that concerns you?

T vote for the Liliana. I love it!

The Carrie is a great dress...but there seems to be too much material at the bust, if that was taken in it would be perfect.

i love the lia...it was on my short list of dresses...but didnt flatter me the way it does you!

I''m telling you that third Carrie pic gave you away.

I really do love the Carrie, I have to tell you that I''ve gone back to look at them at least twice after I posted my original thoughts, and every time I kept liking it more and more. I''d say that you''re right about everything that you said above. I really really love the hemline of the Carrie, I think that''s what made it for me is that ruffle underlayer-I just think it''s classic and timeless, while being modern at the same time. I think that if you get the Carrie, and once you get it altered just right, it would be stunning for you.

Awww....you really do look gorgeous in everything! Have you tried shopping anywhere else?
