Okay, so I checked out your other thread and #1 is definitely a lot more simplistic than the dresses you seem to favor. I still like it best on you, but it''s not what you seem to love, so I wouldn''t choose it!
You never know! :) I feel like I have no idea at this point, so I''m not ruling anything out yet...though I almost wish I could!

I love the christos on you as well, I think that if you want to play up your back view, that''s the one for it. The first one to me just looked too straight. The side view was almost straight, and didn''t give your the sultry curves the Christos did. :) It''s that one or the Vera to me.
9.gif
Yeah, I was also a bit concerned about the side view. The ruching kinda added to my waistline, which I wasn''t a big fan of. But, it was so lightweight and easy to move in because of the short train, and I loved the back ruching. Eh, can you tell I have no idea what the heck I want? Haha. :)

Since you''ve got lots of fabulous choices and you are trying to show off your great petite figure, No to any of the dresses with sashes in the middle. You look fine in them, you can pull them off, but you are most flattered by the mermaid dresses without extra band at the waist. My fav for figure flattering is the Jenny Lee. Its beautiful, fits well, formal enough, fabulous. If you want to step up the drama a bit, the Christos looks great. The neckline is beautiful IMO. The band of lace at knee is more a personal style choice, but I think you pull off the whole look. The lace ML is certainly a beautiful *dress* and you look lovely in it, but its more about the dress than you. Lighter color sash will help, but it will still be a different emphasis than either of the first two. Much prefer the ML to the other sash dress. Of the two we don''t get to see you in, I''m not as much a fan of all the business on the Judd skirt for your petite size. Too much. And the Vera Wang is similiar to the Jenny Lee but with a little more trumpet omph. I think I prefer one of the first two to the VW, in that I don''t like the bubble skirt or bodice detailing as much on the VW, but its hard to tell entirely without you in it.

As for looking dated in the future, embrace it. You are trying on hot designer wedding dresses with various sashes and side ruching and lace. This trumpet skirt look you are going for is so right now (and so old Hollywood), but it looks fabulous on you so why not!
Thanks for taking the time to give your opinion on each, I really appreciate it! You hit it right on...I am kinda going for that striking old Hollywood presence. I figure it''s my one chance to pretend I''m some kind of celebrity and wear something that really steals the show.

I really like the first one you posted in this thread. That mermaid style is gorgeous on you!! Like another poster said (sorry I don''t remember who) I am not liking the straps for you. That style of strap cuts you off and does not give you as clean a line as either strapless or a spaghetti strap.
Thanks! You''re right about the straps, I hadn''t quite figured out why I didn''t like them very much on me. I see them on models in magazines and I always like the straps...maybe because they are so tall? I''m not short (5''6"), but I''m no runway model. :)

You were lucky to be allowed pictures in the salon you visited! You look gorgeous... My favorite is definitely the first one, but then again, I''m a fan of simple dresses.
I was so glad they let me too! I asked and thought they were going to say no. But she said they recently changed their policy to allow pics. Thanks for your input!

I''m having a hard time figuring out exactly WHY but I like the first one on you best BY FAR.

It has a more subtle mermaid shape that isn''t cartoony & is very back & butt flattering (as you mentioned you wanted).

Some of the other mermaid ones seem clunkily dramatic or saggy or ... wrong. To do mermaid on a petite frame I think you need to keep it streamlined.

Even the Vera goes overboard ... especially with that balloon hem (at least IMO).

The Cristos is my LEAST favorite, even behind the sleeved one ... that thigh detail rubs mee the Wwwrong way.

I agree that the mermaid can be a bit much, but I''m hoping I can pull it off. It''s funny, I talked to the lady about adding a layer underneath to make the flair more pronouced on the Jenny Lee. :) I appreciate your opinion!

Late to chime in but I LOVE the Jenny Lee front and back... not so crazy from the side. Like the Christos better from the side and I prefer the neckline on you. LOVE the one with the straps too-- form every angle. Truly Beautiful!

ETA: I''ve taken a strong dislike to the two sash gowns. First one cuts you in half and makes you look short wasted and a bit heavier than you are. The second one... it''s more balanced but I think all that lace is giving me fits.
You might be right about the sashes, they do take away from the elongated look. Thanks!!!

the jenny lee is by far my favorite! LOVE it, it looks perfect on you!

second is the one with brown sash....i'm partial to sashes, had a red one on my dress!
Ooooh, are there pics of your dress on here somewhere?

i like the second one the best. it looks very elegant.
Thanks! I was hoping that it did...I''m glad to hear that other people think it is too!

Facet,

Have you seen this mermaid by Romona Keveza? I tried on this style in an a-line, and the silk was by far the most luxurious silk I've ever tried on. Plus, it's simple but still has some detail that keeps it from being "plain", you know? You have a ton of gorgeous choices (cough*christos*cough), but I came across this dress earlier (on theknot.com) and thought I'd mention it. ;D

Haha, I actually have this one in my saved folder. Good choice! :) I haven''t been to a salon yet that carries her dresses. There are two designers I still want to see before I make a decision...Romona Keveza and Angel Sanchez. They both make stunning mermaid styles, and quite a few of them too. The only thing that bums me out is that the Christos is on loan to the salon for a trunk show and will be leaving in a couple days, so it will be hard for me to compare later on. I''m waiting for a new store to open locally that will have the Angel Sanchez gowns...because no one else around here carries them. I think I''m definitely sold on the mermaid shape...especially once I get back in shape. I haven''t been working out for quite some time now, and I really need to get back at it to get the perfect wedding dress shape for the mermaid style. I''ll definitely post if I get to a salon that has Romona Keveza soon! Thanks!

Romona''s gowns are divine. I did what you''re doing...I wanted to try on dresses from all of my favorite designers. Because I did, I''m so happy with the dress I chose.

FacetFire-

I LOVE the mermaid style on you too...Just wanted to ask you though, have you looked at any of the Melissa Sweet gowns? For example, the Lia or the Layla? This is a pic of the Lia- so pretty!!! Just wanted to add, as if you weren't going crazy enough trying to decide!!!!

Thanks! Yeah, I went to a store that carried Melissa Sweet. Here are the pics: https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/dress-pics-from-my-big-shopping-trip.51672/=

I tried on the Lia and some others, though they didn''t have the Layla or a couple others I was interested in. I think the Christos (which is pretty similar to the Lia in concept) is a bit more flattering. There is a pic of me in the Lia in the thread linked above...can I ask what you think?

the 1st or 2nd are the best. simple and classy. the last one is too busy. you will be glad in 15 years you chose the 1st one.

Thanks! My mom loved the last one...but I''m inclined to agree with you.

Thought you guys might like to see a pic of the Christos on the model, since I think it is shows the dress a bit better...the lighting in the salon was flourescent and horrible. :)

Thats hot.
Seriously, that has taste, the brown frown gown is not happening.

Man, i feel like a gay guy.

I still love this one. I love the shrug she has on too!

It''s gorgeous. Clean lines, chic, with a cool detail where you wouldn''t expect it.

Hi FacetFire-

Sorry I am late chiming in -was at work ALL day. Now that you pointed out that you tried on the Lia previously, I remember...DUH...I even responded to that thread! I am losing my mind!

I LOVE the Lia on you...but, I have to ask, why does the bustline on the "Lia" that you tried on different from the "Lia" pic I posted in this thread? It looks different to me. Any idea why? Or am I just seeing things? I really love it though, no matter what, it is classic yet stylish at the same time, and it shows off your awesome shape too...I would also at some point like to see you in the Romona Keveza- that dress is really pretty as well. But the Lia is just lovely on you....can you tell I like it??
2.gif

~~I like the dress w/ the sash (no lace) the best, and the Jenny Lee second...They are both so gorgeous!! Did you find out who designed the dress with the sash yet??

The Christos gown looks like it was made to fit you and to fit your specifications -- knock 'em dead styling, tastefully done! It's very elegant, and all the pieces fit together beautifully so that even the butt sash doesn't look overdone!

I still love the first Priscilla gown but from what you've said, this is definately more "you" and what you're looking for, so go for it!

Have fun with the BDD shopping. I think it might be a challenge to find bridesmaids dresses that can hold thier own next to that gown, but I'm sure they're out there...

I really appreciate having a man''s opinion in this...I have to admit that after seeing the photos, I''m leaning towards the Christos. Thanks so much for adding your thoughts!

Thanks! That exactly how I feel about it too! Unless I like something better if I get to try on Romona or Angel Sanchez, this *might* be it!
