What are you wearing today? Pearl edition!

I haven't seen my friends in person in almost a year! I meant pearl friends, as in the other strands of pearls, not other humans haha.

Opps
im really sorry you havn't been able to catch up with your freinds
hopefully we will all be vaccinated shortly and we can discover a new and excitting near normal where pearls get to meet other humans

Today im wearing (for kind of the first time) my Victorian inspired pearl and tourquoise ring, my only commission so far
On reflection, alnost 4 years latter im really happy with the colour of the turquoise and the decorative gallery
It has excellent finger coverage and i love the wider width of the band
The pearls are round and their surface is perfect and they are shinny so i guess luster was the trade off
I thinl it had been a long time since the jewler had used tourquoise and i think he enjoyed making it20210309_112356.jpg

This is gorgeous! The yellow gold really sets off the blue of the turquoise and truly a beautiful ring. :kiss2:

Got this last week. 10-14mm from Continental Pearl in downtown L.A. I love the shape and color, but it's not properly strung and knotted, I just tied the clasp to the string it came with lol. Natural east facing lighting vs yucky yellow indoor lighting with some friends.

Your golden strand is beautiful! Such a lovely shade of gold. I love how you are wearing them with your Tahitian and gemstone strands. Very luxurious.

@ForteKitty - love love love how that strand looks on you:love:

Great photo, shows off the colors like a neutral white background would do.

Had a whole day today at the hospital with Gary at the eye dept

i havn't felt much like much lately because im still missing dear Tibby but i went all out today

i wore the lovelly lavender flapper strand from @Lisa Loves Shiny doubled over
The weight of a longer necklase took all of 2 min to get used to, to then wear it all day
i wore it under my shirt collar so the pearls were separated from my heavy silver chain
I had my pink FW mall studs and my tourquoise and pearl ring

You pull off that long strand so nicely @Daisys and Diamonds !

@MakingTheGrade , the medley strand looks great against your black top. The different colours really pop and they all look so lustrous and fun!

@Daisys and Diamonds that pearl and turquoise ring is beautiful, I love the combination of white and blue.

Button gssp studs today. I won't say that they are perfect pearls but it's the nucleus of the pearls that fascinates me and prompted me to buy a few from Cees. Instead of the usual shell bead, Cees said that the nucleus of those studs are freshwater pearls.

I was looking at some of the jewelry my mom has given me throughout the years and came upon this set she bought for me for my college graduation. I always thought it was too dainty (especially for a 20-something) out of college, but now I like it! Pearl studs set in 14kt gold and matching pendant in 14kt gold.

Edited 18kt to 14kt gold. My old lady eyes couldn't see clearly, had to break out my loupe.

Daisy you look absolutely lovely! I can't get enough of your gorgeous turquoise and pearl ring. I know you are missing your Tibby and wearing your beautiful cat pendant close to your heart must feel comforting.

They look great on you! So funny that you posted this today. My mom asked if I want my old pearls since I'm finally able to appreciate them, and I'm like "what pearls?" Apparently she bought me stuff when I was in high school but what HS kid wore pearls? I put them in my old dresser and never wore them. She brought them over earlier and they're the same sized as your set! 25 years later, I love them!

Tomorrow. My indoor lighting is yellow and everything looks crappy. I got 3 pairs of akoya studs (5mm, 6mm, 7mm) and two blue-green tahitian pendants all with very high luster. The freshwater stuff is okay, I'm not a fan of the shape. There's also a tahitian bracelet that's meh. I'm gonna practice restringing with them, with hot pink or turquoise string.

:appl: :appl: :appl: looking forward to it

And
:appl::appl::appl:what a great gift all these years latter

And
:appl::appl::appl:for practice and maybe repurposing ...

You know last week when the ice cream van stooped outside our house a high school girl in front of me had quite large 'pearl ' studs - we live in what could be at best described as a working class street - but she absolutly rocked them !

I went to high school in the 80s and while i don't remenber my freinds wearing pearl studs (maybe because i didn't have peirced ears back then) i do remember 'pearls' being everywhere from Princess Di to Madona
We wear school uniform here and i don't think we were even allowed earings at my school
But the 80s were great fun for accessories and jewlery

I don't know why we stooped wearing pearls or exactly why* we desided they were too old for us :wall:

* we were too young and stupid to develop our own style probably

Oh what the heck. Here are some with some other stuff. The pastel greenish grey tahitians are 9.4mm, GSS dangles are 10.5mm, and the lavender edisons are 11.6mm, all from OceanRhyme on etsy. Obviously terrible lighting and you can't see the colors in any of them, but the tahitians from my mom are medium blue green (even though they look black here) and i only see one teeny tiny blemish on each one in the back. Those are set in 18k yg. Pink toned Akoya studs in that tray are the 5mm and 6mm, I didn't take the 7mm out of my ears, all set in 14k yg.

I must say that pendent is rather awsome

I love ocean rhyme and have several pieces of hers. Maimoda also has some good items as well. Ocean rhyme started me on my pearl adventure, but my tastes have become more perfectionist and more expensive. But I still look to see what she’s got every day.

Just had a look at Ocean rhyme, some lovelly pieces there

Ocean Rhyme and Simplyadorned4U are my two favorite stores on Etsy! I love their designs and they are easy to reach for daily. I wear them way more frequently than my more formal pearls.

Very true! As much as I like a full strand, they get so heavy and I take them off after a couple hours. I've worn my pastel tahitian studs more during the past week, than my 2ctw G/H oec diamond studs in the past 6 years. What a waste, I should have gotten into pearls like 10 years sooner!

Taken in dayligh along with other project pieces. Don’t care if they don’t match, I’m wearing the bitty akoyas studs with the greenish Tahitian pendant today. In case anyone is wondering why that tray looks so mismatched, it’s my to do tray. Everything that needs some work done is temporarily sitting there lol. I need a proper pearl earring case!

SimplyAdorned4U made a wonderful necklace that I adore as well as my pearl earrings which are my default earrings. She’s my pearl goddess pal!144652D6-8887-4A1B-BA61-748673DF835A.jpeg

Just got my silvery blue 7.5-8mm Akoyas from @molinePDG

I know top quality blue Akoyas are virtually impossible to come by - so thank you to Andrew for accomplishing the (near) impossible! They aren't *quite* gem quality - but likely as close as I will come by and a darn close match!

The are a stunning, seafoam bluish-silver-green. Ethereal. My husband said they looked like quicksilver and I think he's right! The luster is incredible and they are almost entirely devoid of any imperfection

They are the last major jewelry purchase I will be making for a while as I need to hunker down and save for a down payment...but I must say, I believe my shopping spree ended on a high note!

Wow. Your collection is blowing me away. I also love blue - it has to be my favorite color. Give me a few hours to play in this jewelry box and I might die a happy woman! :kiss2:
