What are you wearing today?!

Fly Girl, I just love those golden Tahitians. You have me coveting a strand now! And I really like the keshis too! I was interested to see what they look like in real life. Are you planning on wearing them doubled up at all?

bsomlo, I really dig the triple lavenders on you. So elegant.

:appl: :appl: :appl: for all the lovely pearls on show! Not many people in my office are wearing pearls, so it's really nice to see that people do wear pearls in their daily life (I am the odd one out with my pearls too).

I wore my pearls over the past 3 days, and happily received daily compliments on ALL of them! Woot! :D

Monday:

Received my new multi-coloured Kojima Pearls in office and wore them immediately. Great luscious colours and overtones. Yummy.

Tuesday:

Graduated colour tahitians ftw... wore them long so that I can admire the colours (turned them around a few times to see all the different colours)

Wednesday (today):

No necklace since my top looks 'complicated' enough, so just my new Kojima earrings that were a bit too much in combination with the necklace for the office. Perfect by themselves tho.

My pics do no justice to how gorgeous they look in real life. My colleagues were quite fascinated by them.

Icy Jade - I wish you worked in my office. Then again I would get nothing done I would just be staring at your pearls all day. Absolutely gorgeous.

Today I wore a cheapie freshwater strand from Pearl society on eBay.

icy_jade, that graduated strand just looks fabulous with black. So elegant!!

AAA pink, cream and peach "hedgies" (Drusy pearls) And golden peach freshwaters.

icy jade -- I wish I worked with you!!! I am usually the only one wearing pearls. I don't get it!

rosebloom -- the classics are classics for a reason. Absolutely lovely.

mrs. Taylor -- what have we here...? New? Details, please.

They are new indeed, Bsomlo! Thank you for noticing. I adore them.

The rounds are 9mm AA+ golden peace metallics strung on powerpro. They're 18 inches, I believe. Don't quote me on that.
The hedgies are large drusy pearls, AAA 13.5mm x 10.8mm x 11.4mm down to 10.2mm x 8mm x 10mm at clasp. They're just over 23 inches. Also on powerpro.

Catherine Cardellini rocks. I can't wait for your pearls to show.

Today was a pink pearl day for me. Two pink freshwater strands strung by me with pearls from eBay vendors PearlLunar (the rounds/ovals) and RainbowIslandPearls (the flat keshi). Earrings are from Pearl Paradise.

And, a bonus shot of my new PP Tahitian/akoya keshi necklace doubled. It looks great that way, but I personally don't like shorter necklaces, so I will probably wear it long. By the way, the silver akoya keshi are gorgeous, with pink, blue and green overtones.

Fly girl -- I adore that Tahitian/keshi doubled. Does it stay that way or does it move around and get "chokey"? It is fantastic and unique.

I only put it on to model, but I suspect that it would slide less than a longer and heavier doubled strand since it is so light.

Mrs Taylor Your new peach metallics are gorgeous! :appl: :appl: :appl: Are they from CC? Oh and what earrings are you wearing with them?

Fly Girl I am totally loving your Tahitian/keshi strand doubled!!!

icy jade Wow! Your new CC pearls look fabulous! And of course your multicolors strand is beautiful!

Mrs. taylor, I love both strands you had on yesterday, but those drusy pearls are just amazing! I've never seen them irl but have wanted a strand for some time. So, I bought one from Catherine and it's on it's way!!

They are indeed from CC. I adore her. I had the earrings that went with the necklace added in for length so I'm just wearing 2ctw martini studs.

I'm wearing the metallics and hedgies. I just got them last night so I got to take photos in the SUN today. The drusy pearls are astonishingly beautiful.

Those little hedghogs are super pretty... They just glow on your skin mrs. taylor!

Oh, and just for fun....a comparison shot of the chinese kasumi look alike/ripples (onions) and the drusy pearls (hedgehogs.) I think they're very complementary.

icy jade and bsomlo: wowzer! great pearls and great looks!

Bsomlo inspired me. It's a Tahitian day.

Loving it! I, in turn, was inspired by the various and gorgeous Tahitians posted recently.

I think I finally figured out how to style my 50 inch Tahitian rope...

(Now if only Catherine's pearls would arrive... Sad face).

PS, tell us about those earrings!

Thanks ladies! I'm on a 'wear a pearl something work week spree'... am hoping that with some luck maybe my colleagues will start wearing pearls too, haha. They do seem interested in the ones that I am wearing (some get a tad distracted by the pearls when I'm talking to them, as I can tell by their wandering glances to my neck/ears)

Thursday:
Faux pearls (but still pearls by my count, haha):

Tahitians tripled and woven:

Lovely but how do you do this? Will it loosen the knots/string?

It's not easy to describe and your rope is not graduated so you don't have to do this.

My favorite style is tripled, but my Tahitian rope is quite graduated in pearl size. When I simply wrapped around three times, the heaviest strand got pulled down by gravity and the smallest strand shortened and choked me.

Doubling the necklace doesn't work well because if the clasp is in back, so are the largest pearls (do you know what I mean?). And I don't want the clasp in front. And the heavier strand creeps downwards and I end up choked. 50" is too long for me to wear as a single.

SO, I put the necklace around my neck with the largest pearls, middle of my necklace, up close against my neck, comfortably. Then I cross the necklace in back and weave/wrap both ends twice around the right half and the left half weaving forward to meet again in the front. It's now a double strand with one strand wrapped around the original strand four times (2 left and 2 right). Finally, I take the last strand wrapping it round the entire double I've already wrapped going from front to back, meeting in the back and then closing the clasp.

So there are 8 total wraps. Two wraps round the original single going from front to back on both right and left (4 total). Then two final wraps around the double wraps I've already executed going from front to back on both right and left (4 more total) with a grand total of wrapping 8 times.

I do think it puts stress on the silk -- but what's a girl to do?! What makes it worse is that I usually can't close the clasp without turning the whole necklace so the clasp is in the front and then dragging the whole thick woven necklace back round again.

But it solves the chokey problem, is comfortable, intersperses the smaller and larger pearls very nicely, and I think looks great.

it does indeed!

I received these ripple pearls yesterday from Catherine. This is my absolute favorite color, delicate pink with a little bit of peach.
I. Love. These.

Baby nurse, just fantastic!!! Enjoy and wear them in health!

I LOVE! Aren't the ripples mind bogglingly beautiful?! Those look gorgeous on you!

Thanks, bsomlo and mrs. taylor! Yes, the ripple pearls really are fascinating! I love the textures, colors, luster. Yum.
