I've been wearing my new baroque tahitians pretty much nonstop since I received them from PP.

Your Tahitians are gorgeous! I love the color, size, luster  ! And they look amazing with your skin tone! Could you refresh my memory re body color and overtones?

Thanks baby nurse! These have a dark body and green overtones. The description from PP had peacock but I hardly see it.

Hi All,
Beautiful pearls everyone!

I have a question for baby monster in regards to your Tahitian necklace. I have attached 2 pics, & although the necklaces look different, I can't find any info in old posts of yours, on a round Tahitian necklace.
Is one a round Tahitian & the other baroque? Please excuse my ignorance! I think they look amazing on you- obviously though there is a big difference in cost of round vs baroque.

I live in Australia & I've only tried on one round Tahitian to see how it looked with my skin tone. This particular store didn't have a baroque necklace for me to compare. The round Tahitian had a grey/ silver colour. I'm fair, blue eyed & was surprised how great it looked. It was over $2000 & even though I've only really researched online, I didn't think the quality was anything amazing- so I think I can do better & it has to be more affordable too. ( Australia has a bad reputation for high costs on jewellery, that's why we all shop on line).
I'm at the beginning of my pearl search so sorry for long rant-I get a bit obsessed when I see such gorgeous pieces.

My questions: are your necklaces 18 inches? What size are the pearls? What colour is your preference? I 'think' I like peacock but I can only base that on what I see online.
Many thanks for any advice.

Hi Dreamon, welcome to Pearl forum. :wavey:

Yes, both necklaces are 18 inches. The baroques are 10-12mm while the rounds are 10-13mm. The round strand is grey body with blue overtones while the baroque is dark body with green overtones. I can't say which one I prefer because the colors and overall look of the strands are just so different. I like them both. There are more photos of the round strand posted earlier in this thread but I don't have a separate thread for it.

I bought and returned other baroque strands because the imperfections bothered me and while this strand has quite a few but they sort of blend in to give the pearls interesting character. You just have to decide whether baroques are "it" for you because the price difference, as you mentioned, is significant.

Here is a quick shot of both strands side by side showing the imperfections of the baroques. The spots on the rounds are just reflections. It's raining today so very dark and gloomy. The colors don't really come through but you can see the blemishes.

One's changing tastes are so interesting! I was round-round-round all the way until recently. Now, I really LOVE baroque shapes, and I love drops. Souffles are like clouds, no two alike -- which I love. I bought a Tahitian strand recently and feel the colors of baroque Tahitians, especially lightly ringed, are gorgeous. The price difference is, of course, alluring -- but I honestly preferred the looks/colors of the baroques.

dreamon -- Keep us posted on your thoughts.

baby monster -- both of your strands are beauties!

I think the same is true for white South Sea pearls. The rounds are definitely gorgeous, but not nearly as colorful as the baroques. The colors on my wSS baroque dangle earrings and pendant are both spectacular!

Thank you so much Baby Monster. Your photos really help.
You ladies are all so gracious with your knowledge & advice.
I really appreciate it.
Am hoping for a pearl purchase for Mothers Day so will keep up with my research & let u all know how it turns out.

The necklace is freshwater drops and the one on the bottom is a fireball. The earrings are Edison's.

baby nurse -- beautiful strand and colors!!!

baby nurse Such colorful pearls and the size and shape are splendid  I really like your Ts with your gray sweater, it has the perfect neckline and allows the colors to pop.

I am wearing this special bracelet my husband matched for me after Pearl-Guide Ruckus 2010. At Sunday show-and-tell Jeremy showed us a batch of baroque Tahitians, very light circle or almost none. They were lustrous and mostly vibrant green. We admired them but did not pick any pearls. A few days later we came back to PP office because I kept thinking about them. We poured out the whole bag and both of us started picking out approximately 50 - 60 most pretty ones based on color, shape and luster. At first we were thinking of pendant or earrings. Then my husband wanted to match a bracelet for me from the selected pearls. It took him about an hour or two and he lined them up for Hisano to make a stretch bracelet. The center pearl is eggplant with dark blue at the tip (did not capture too well compare to real life). I've recently re-knotted it using Power Pro, added a pearl charm at the bottom and used magnetic clasp. So far I like the ease of putting on the bracelet. I just have to be mindful around metal. I was taking clothes out of the dryer after dinner and the bracelet was attached to the dryer near the door. This is an extremely sentimental bracelet because of my husband. I think he's got great eye. He's never matched any pearls before. I used to joke that he's color blind. But that's not true when it comes to pearls. I now consult him with my choices.

A beautiful bracelet and a great story!!!

Gorgeous bracelet and I love the story.

I recently had a pearl bracelet that is woven on metal wire sucked right off my wrist by the elevator at work. It ended up attached to the elevator bumper bar at the back of the elevator car. A fellow worker who was with me thought it was the funniest thing he had seen in a long time. I was able to pry it free, and now I'm sure to keep my pearly wrist well away from the greedy elevator car. :))

By the way, the bracelet is from the collection 522 at Stephen Vincent Designs in Minneapolis. http://svstudio.com/552.html

baby nurse, gorgeous strand! Love the green color :appl: .

HHPMom, your husband has a great eye for pearls. Bracelet looks amazing. :appl:

Fly Girl, yikes! Hope your arm didn't hurt by the elevator door.

Oh no, my arm wasn't near the elevator door. The elevator bumper bar acted as a magnet and when the bracelet came off it was just like taking it off myself. I hadn't realized that the metal wire in my bracelet could be attracted by a magnet, but apparently it can. :wavey:

Babynurse, those are incredible!

HHPMom, love the bracelet and very sweet that your husband picked them out!

FLYgirl, thanks for sharing and glad it all worked out in the end.

I will now be careful with magnetic clasps! (and bracelets near magnets!).

So many have wonderful new pearls again :appl: . Love to see them more and more :appl:

Multi color with opals, lavender and pale pink today. There's no sun shining much since october, so only boring inside shot available:((.

Confection10 What a lovely combination :appl: :appl: :appl: You have fabulous style!

Wearing my beloved CC "golden figs" today. This is in fading natural Northern light so the metallic quality and subtle pinks don't show. Oh, well. I just love the shapes of these pearls:
