The color of just the actual dress (not including the sash or any other accessory).

I am wearing an ivory gown, changing into a gold evening gown and then to a red qi pao for the reception. I haven''t found the evening gown yet, and haven''t been measured for the qi pao yet.

I answered diamond white, although the company my dress is from calls it, "Candle Light".

Lots of ivory... kinda surprises me.

My dress is as white as copy paper.

I just love the dresses that are white with a little "tinge" of something though!

Mine is ivory.

oooh I just got goosebumps thinking about it!! I can''t wait!

I am SUCH a classic white girl. I never even CONSIDERED wearing something other than white.. and I don''t think I ever would.

My dress is ivory too. I hit the genetic jackpot my Irish, Scandanavian and German ancestors--paler than you can imagine! So I needed an ivory dress to not wash me out. Eep! I''m going for my first fitting at the end of this month, so I should have pictures of myself in the dress to post... I am freaking out...

I can''t wait to see everyone''s pictures!! I would post my fitting pics, but am afraid that my fiance will peek. DARN!

What is the difference between white and diamond white?

oooow

Ivory is popular..

6 weeks and counting, I had my second fitting in monday and am SO excited about my dress!!! (and the wedding ofcourse) YAY

My dress is Ivory...but the designer calls it champagne. It has rose colored details in the bodice. Ivory looked so much better on me than white did...and the color makes the gown extra special. I find it very funny that "white" is considered the bridal color because originally gowns were not white and neither were veils...I think it was like 1890 something when queen someday dubbed white the wedding color. Plus white is the symbol of purity and virginity..so unless you are an actual virgin on your wedding night...the symbolism goes out the window. I would have gotten a white gown just because...but ivory just looked better

Diamond white is somewhere between WHITE WHITE and ivory. It''s weird, I had no idea the dress that I tried on wasn''t WHITE WHITE until they told me!! It'' a very faint difference, but it looked really good against my olive skin!

Well mine was red and gold, but that''s what we do so it''s not like it was an American wedding with me in a red outfit.

I heard that the white symbolizes happiness, while the veil symbolizes virginity. Girls who want a blusher probably shouldn''t think about this with me, but what''s with the tradition of having the FOB lift the blusher as he hands her off to the groom? EEEEEEWWWWW!!!! That''s why I didn''t have a blusher....
Oh yeah, mine is diamond white.

Hmmmm. I guess I never really gave this issue much thought. Ivory just looked better with my skin tones. I'm wearing a cathedral length veil with a blusher. And after ummmmm NINE years of living with my fiance, well...the whole virgin thing is...

I'm not super sure of this but I agree that the blusher is symbolic of virginity, and is technically reserved for first time brides.

But brides should do whatever makes them happy.

I'm so excited for all of you!!

Absolutely!! I... qualified... for the blusher, but chose not to wear it because it''s my wedding, darnit, and the whole FOB thing just weirds me out! We even changed the "giving of the bride" to the "presentation of the bride", in which my father presented me to be married on behalf of my family. It was appropriate and made him feel more comfortable too.

ok.. what is a ''blusher''?

The blusher is the veil you wear over your face. I''m pretty sure it symbolizes modesty and virginity.

I got married more than 28 years ago. I remember the choices, then, as being white or off-white. What is "diamond white"?

By the way, I looked better in off-white, but couldn''t bear not to wear white for my one and only wedding day. My (then) fiancé also wanted me to wear white. So I did. :-)
