My dress is ivory too. I hit the genetic jackpot my Irish, Scandanavian and German ancestors--paler than you can imagine! So I needed an ivory dress to not wash me out. Eep! I''m going for my first fitting at the end of this month, so I should have pictures of myself in the dress to post... I am freaking out...

My dress is Ivory...but the designer calls it champagne. It has rose colored details in the bodice. Ivory looked so much better on me than white did...and the color makes the gown extra special. I find it very funny that ''white'' is considered the bridal color because originally gowns were not white and neither were veils...I think it was like 1890 something when queen someday dubbed white the wedding color. Plus white is the symbol of purity and virginity..so unless you are an actual virgin on your wedding night...the symbolism goes out the window. I would have gotten a white gown just because...but ivory just looked better

Hmmmm. I guess I never really gave this issue much thought. Ivory just looked better with my skin tones. I''m wearing a cathedral length veil with a blusher. And after ummmmm NINE years of living with my fiance, well...the whole virgin thing is...I''m not super sure of this but I agree that the blusher is symbolic of virginity, and is technically reserved for first time brides.
But brides should do whatever makes them happy.
I''m so excited for all of you!!

Absolutely!! I... qualified... for the blusher, but chose not to wear it because it''s my wedding, darnit, and the whole FOB thing just weirds me out! We even changed the ''giving of the bride'' to the ''presentation of the bride'', in which my father presented me to be married on behalf of my family. It was appropriate and made him feel more comfortable too.
aaah now I get it! thanxDate: 7/8/2005 11:36:45 AM

The blusher is the veil you wear over your face. I''m pretty sure it symbolizes modesty and virginity.
