First name- if I HAVE to even mention them

First names, but we usually avoid each other really studiously so I rarely have to address them at all. DH calls my parents Mom and Dad, not because they wanted him to, he just loves them very much. He often says he feels like they''re his real parents.

For the past two years I''ve called his parents by their first names.

FI asked me about 6 mths ago if he could call my parents Mom & Dad and they said "of course!"

After the wedding I''ll probably call his parents Mom & Dad, too... I don''t think its strange, but then again, I grew up in a house with parents who lovingly referred to their in-laws as "Mom & Dad." I''ve never heard either of my parents call a MIL or FIL by a first name... It was always "Mom & Dad" or the appropriate "grandparent name."

I have always called my IL''s by their first names. I think they introduced themselves that way! Heck, they were so excited their son brought someone new home, I think they would have answered to ANYTHING.

I called hubby''s dad "Mr. Hubbyslastname" before we were married.

Then, shortly after we were engaged, I just called him "Dad" once, which is what his other DIL calls him) and then that stuck. It wasn''t intentional, it just slipped out, and it was natural and easy.

First names...always. DH''s parents are divorced, so it feels really natural in his fam to call people by first names since that''s how the kids address their stepparents. DH calls my parents by their first names.

First names.

Before marriage, they were "my boyfriend/fiance''s parents/grandparents/sisters."

Now, it''s "my mother-in-law/sisters-in-law" etc. There is only one person who doens''t get the in-law treatment. He is just "my husband''s father." I don''t have a good relationship with the man, so that is how I refer to him.
