A private IG account created with a throwaway email is much safer than Craigslist. People can DM but you don't need to give your email out unless you want to.

I see what you mean, you can go back and forth and only give your email out to the confirmed buyer.

It's safer than putting email addresses on LT. I use a throwaway account with the same user name as here, but it being public, I've received plenty of spam. The only downside is you limit yourself to buyers on PS who actually browse pre-loved.

LOL! Man, I hope the goods live up to the expectations!

I’m not trying to leave you guys hanging, this has been a crazy week and our youngest son goes back to school Monday. He has been home for a year! So, we have a lot going on.
 
As far as I’m aware - LT is run by one person with a kind heart and a willingness to foot the electric bill increase. Home labs are time-consuming and expensive to run and maintain, especially when the expectation is 24/7 website availability... Since there was never a contract to using LT there’s no SLA to uphold, and maybe it’s never coming back.

I think an IG account is a more viable solution. And this is a good reminder to myself to back things up from PS, FB, etc.
 
Folks, NO social media accounts. Please only listen to us, not to users on the forum. We do not have time to click through and monitor whether people are making anonymous accounts or whether they are simply linking their own social media, which is NOT safe.

There are many sales platforms you can use—Ebay, Etsy, Mercari, Poshmark, Diamond Bistro, etc.
 
Can I post the item for sale here and just provide my email in the post? My email isn’t my real name, so I don’t mind posting it publicly.

Also, am I allowed to post moissanite jewelry for sale in this forum? I assume so because I’ve seen others.

I’m going to post mine in the MoissaniteBST on Reddit :)

Diamond Bistro won’t send me a verification email after I’ve repeatedly tried. The other sites don’t seem as relevant for selling pre loved jewelry. I do sell plenty of clothes on eBay though!
 
I think you could link to an ebay listing.
 
Oh that Reddit page is a good idea! They also allow diamonds and gemstones along with moissanites for those that don’t visit that forum

"For those of you who had an LT account and had listings, you can still access cached pages. Just google "Loupetroop (your user name)" and your items will pop up under cached. (3 dots to the right, click cache) The individual listing links on that page won't work, but it contains info to get to the page that you can link here. Since I don't remember any of the titles, I had to hunt for them. To get to the contents of a page, once you have a listing title, search "loupetroop (your user name) (a few words in the title)", and that listing will pop up under cached. You can then link it here like your old LT links, assuming you added a way for people to contact you in the description. Hope that helps people who want to save their old listings, having to retype everything sucks!

Mine is here for example, snapshot from 2/8, so fairly recent: Fortekitty's LT listing"

@ForteKitty thank you so much for that suggestion! I tried it and I was able to access my listing! Appreciate your attempts at finding a solution for this ongoing and befuddling LT issue. I’m sure I’m not the only one who’s feeling extra grateful❤️❤️

A reminder that this is not allowed on PS. We do not have the manpower to monitor social media handles to see if they are truly anonymous or not, and those that are not anonymous create real safety concerns for users.

It is VERY easy to inadvertently post enough information there for someone to find you, to tag your location without meaning to, etc.

I really hope I’m wrong but I’m not sure it’s coming back. Doesn’t it literally take an hour or two max to deploy a new website? Nothing more than an overnight maintenance like many many other websites do (Facebook, banks, etc.). Being down for weeks doesn’t seem like they’re just rolling out a new version. Also, why take down the old one for weeks? Why not kiss design a new one and swap it out overnight?
 
Does anybody know the admin over at diamond bistro? They’re not sending out verification emails anymore, nor are they answering any customer support emails. This means no new users can sign up because we can’t get our new accounts verified. The sign up process still works so they’re continuing to collect our addresses and emails and phone numbers for no services or access in return.

So we are now allowed to use Etsy instead? Rather than directing people to set up an IG account, perhaps we should say, do the same in Etsy, the only issue I've ever had is I set up an Etsy account to allow a PSer to pay something off and then got accused of being a vendor. Given the fact LT is down and doesn't seem to be reappearing any time soon Etsy would be a viable option because the fees are cheaper than Ebay and it's much easier to add photos than Diamond Bistro.....

I am old enough to know that this happens every few years on LT. Takes forever for them to get back up.
 
Diamond bistro is run by the guys who own takara diamond ( lab )


We just have to be patient until the loupetroup is back I guess..

Do you know how to contact them?

I’m not a privacy nut, or maybe I am, but I think it’s wrong to continue to collect people’s personal info when they darn well know that people can’t finish the sign up process. If they’re not going to service their emails anymore, they should just disallow all new sign ups and post a warning.

ok rant over :) off topic for this thread anyway.

Thanks! I’ll try to contact them there. Amazing there’s a whole new forum on jewelry there. I wonder if it’s more popular than PS.

edit: nevermind, I see the admin there has been absent since 2019. I saw someone else post about not being able to login though, and no response :(
