Here. St. Regis Bora Bora. Sigh.
I once had a one-week vacation in Tahiti reserved and paid for, and I DIDN''T GET TO GO!!!!!!

For me, Maisie, I''d look into Capri, Italy. That''s where I think I want to get married. GORRRRRGEOUS. When I see photos of it, my heart does a little flutter in my chest and my brain always asks me, "Is that place REAL?!"

So, I definitely always dreamed of Santorini for a honeymoon. But oh boy, does Bora Bora have me hooked now! Wow.

I''d considered the south pacific at one point but I used to live on an island in the carribean for a couple of years and while bora bora looks gorgeous I get too bored just laying on the beach the whole time. I still would like to check it out one day.

Thailand, Singapore and Indonesia! Well, maybe not Indonesia right now but when its more stable. There are tons of interesting places to visit and the food is amazing.
Indonesia is a very fascinating place to visit. My dad lived there for a couple of years so I spent a month in Sulawesi with him. I spent a bit of time in Java and of course went to Bali... unfortunately the part of the island we were on in Bali was way too touristy and I got some pretty crazy food poisoning. Overall though, great place to travel through. I really liked Singapore too, very pretty, super clean!

If I had $10,000 to spend on airfare, hotel, rental car, food, etc., I''d probably go to either Portugal (since we''re no longer going there for our honeymoon) or Hawaii. The only downside about going to Hawaii from where I live in the Northeast is that it''s such a loooonnnnnngggg flight. Even if we were to break up the trip and spending a few days in CA (which would be fun to do), it''s still a long way to go to get to paradise. But if that''s the price I''d have to pay, so be it.
I live in CA so it''s a short flight for me but... I went to Maui for a wedding, we rented condos on the beach that were quite affordable. Airfare, 5 days in the condo was about $800 total for two of us. You can get some pretty good deals to Hawaii.

Oooh I would go to Greece! Great food, great architecture and history, beautiful romantic views, more affordable than some other European countries. I loved it there! My FI is Greek(well, half) so that was an added bonus. On our trip, we really only had time for Athens, Santorini and Mykonos (because we spent a week in Italy too) but I cant wait to go back and explore some more out of the way islands. If you go to Mykonos, check out Psarou beach. :)

We're going to New Zealand with a stopoff in French Polynesia on the way home

with a budget of a little under $10k.

If it were purely, up to me, I would just love to go to Sri Lanka or Thailand.

Lots of great ideas here...... thanks!

I''d go to the Aman resort near Marrakech and then hike in the Atlas mountains. (drooool)

Or else I''d go to Botswana and go on safari.

We are nearly certain that we''ll be going to Ireland, so I would go there.

I also would have done some serious campaigning to go to Greece if I wasn''t chaperoning a student trip there this summer. (All of your posts about Greece have me so excited! We''ll be there for two weeks, and it''s completely free for me! The only possible negative is that we get back just a week and a half before my wedding. Too bad, I am NOT missing this trip!)

Anyway . . . Ireland. That''s where I''d go.

Hmmm, if you had 10k and flying from the UK...that was the original question right?

If you are seeking chill time, something exotic, and something historic...You could go to Egypt, the Sinai. The snorkeling in Dahab is amazing, the Blue Hole is one of the best places to dive and its not that far down so you are walking in crazy coral and fish. There are some very expensive/fancy hotels, but you can do a sunrise climb up Mt. Siani to see the sun rise (like Moses) and then take a camel down. Egyptians are super friendly and everyone on the peninsula there speaks English, (and French, some German, Hebrew, Dutch, even bits of Japanese as I remember...probably when China has more of a traveling wealthy population the guys selling trinkets will learn Mandarin too). The peninsula used to be controlled by Israel so it has a bit of a different feel, then you could travel south and rent a Faluka (sailboat, not expensive and they usually come with a cook) to travel down the Nile with your final goal to see the pyramids at Giza. I think lazing by the Red Sea for a few bit, then doing some Jeep exploring or hiking, lazing on a boat, and then heading out to the pyramids would be fantastic. It really is a safe place to travel.

see someone else's photos here http://www.travelpod.com/photos/0/Egypt/Dahab.html

My FI and I are both Israeli originally and we chilled there after serving in the army, then we headed to SE asia, pretty much anywhere you can sleep on the beach and eat local fruits. We are going on honeymoon in Argentina to see Buenos Aries (super deals on renting apts there, like 300USD a week) and then fly down to Patagonia to check out glaciers while they still exist. Can't wait to see penguins.

how much is a vacation to bora bora tahiti normally?

are most of the resorts out there like the hut style where you have to swim up to it?

No you don''t swim up to it. The resort is on the water, so you walk to it.

The ladder is if you are going swimming right outside of your room. That''s the awesome thing about it being on water.

I''m the one that posted those pics of St. Regis on the water.

I would sign up for a an All-Asia Pass through Cathay Pacific and just hop from one location to another.

I think we''d go back to Japan. See we met on the way to Japan in college and I''d love to go back there together.
