Hi everyone. So, I already have a Watters dress that is lovely, but I have fallen for a couple of others I tried on at the weekend!

I wasn''t allowed to take pictures so you can''t give a real opinion between the two ''on me'' but I would appreciate your input.
I am 5'' 9" and about 150lbs.
Both of these dresses gave me a great shape and I''m so torn....

Pronovias Diamante:

Anjolique 930:

All opinions greatly received..........

Of those two, I''d definitely have to say I LOVE the second one, but what''s the deal with your Watters dress? Are you looking to return it, or not wear it, or use it as a dustrag? Why don''t you love it anymore?

I''d love to see a picture of it too, if that''s ok. Seems only fair.

I love the first one, but it is much more my style - very simple and elegant.

I def prefer the first one!! I think given your height, it will showcase you better. I would be stunning! Simple yet so elegant...

Hazel the second link just takes us to a collection of dresses - is it the first one (the one on the cover)? If not, could you tell us the style number so we can look through the catalogue for it? And have you got a thread with a pic of the Watters dress or a link to it too?

Here is the link to the Watters dress which I posted here: (scroll down near the end of the page to see it:)

It''s lovely, but it doesn''t ''hold me in'' like the Benjamin Roberts or Pronovias dress do!

Delster, the dress on that website is the one on the first page, but if you click on the bottom right of the ''album'' you can see better pictures of it. Style 930.

Appreciate your help girls....I''m leaning towards the 1st one myself at the moment but I''m not very well endowed in the chest area.....but my friends who came with me said it looked stunning on me.......hmmmmnnnnn decisions decisions

I think that your Watters dress is beautiful! But, if you are having doubts, then you should return or sell it if possible. Out of the two posted, I like the first one best. Go with your gut instinct.

Good luck with your decision!

OK to be honest I prefer the two in this thread to the Watters dress.

# 1 - super elegant and so classy. Really timeless.

# 2 - knock-out train and the beading is beautiful. More of a ''statement''. More dramatic. But also more trendy with that mermaid shape.

Personally I think I prefer #2 but I could be a wee bit biased against #1 because you said you were concerned about the padding issue. I was at a wedding where a bride wore a dress like #1 and she mega padded herself out up top and it was too much and looked completely fake. The girl was Twiggy slim and just didn''t have the curves to fill out the dress. She could have done so many other styles and looked stunning but instead she chose to try and look like something she wasn''t, you know? So if you''re straight-up-and-down Twiggy fabulous like the bride at the wedding I was at, then maybe not to #1. But if you have some curves down below (

), then with a little padding up top for va-va-voom I bet that dress is gorgeous. I''d say your friends are likely a good barometer and if they''re saying # 1 looks good, then it looks good!!!

Gosh I''m all over the shop here. Hope there was something helpful in all that rambling!

I'm all about the first one for you....of course, I'm biased, being 5'10" and 160....but at the time of my wedding I was down around 140-145! I think you can definitely carry off the first dress, it's beautifully cut and it looks like it will look fabulous on you. I'm honestly not a fan of strapless dresses...so I love #1. That's all I have to say, I think! Best of luck in your decision!

ETA: I'm not busty either...a mere 34-36 C...I still had to have padding on my strapless bra to ensure I filled out my gown.

I''m 5 10, and *almost* your weight, and I have to say, I love the Pronovias. I''m biased, because that''s the dress I chose. I attached a picture so the other ladies can see the dress on a real person.. Its a 12, and open in the back, but you get the idea. Lovely dress!!

You guys are so great!

Thank you all for being so honest....
I think I''ll sell the Watters dress....I''m just not getting the feeling for it.

Delster...I could definitely make some sense from your ''ramblings'' as you call them! I definitely don''t have a twiggy figure and both dresses ''hug'' me nicely in the waist and butt areas to give me a great shape. I''m not going to pad out the top part too much at all I think. I just don''t really ever wear low cut tops/dresses so I felt a bit exposed but there was nothing on show if you get my drift.
I''m really loving #1.
Now, problem is the price.
It''s €1650 plus another €130 for alterations in the shop I went to here in Ireland.

There''s a shop in Northern Ireland where I can get it for €1380 but I would have to find someone close to home to do the alterations for me...

I can get it from valcollections including delivery for $1200 which is only €765 but I''ll have to pay customs/import duties on top of that....and find a seamstress......and take a leap of faith with a vendor who I''ve heard both good and bad things about!

Anyone know any authorised Pronovias retailers in the US who will ship to Ireland and what the price of the Diamante dress is with them?

The dress is gorgeous on you Angielea! That''s around my size....fancy selling it to me after your wedding? Only joking......

haha. I totally would, but I''m not getting married until April 18, 2009, so probably after you. I plan on selling it afterwords anyways.

I could give you contact information for the shop I bought it from. it was 1480 (US) there, but its located in Iowa,, which is in the middle of nowhere. Rush Bridal in Minneapolis is also an authorized dealer, and they sell for the same price...

angielea you look fabulous in the dress!

Hazel I'm glad to hear I made some sense! For some reason it didn't register with me how tall you are you lucky thing you! The dress will be stunning, I'm sure of it

That bride I told you about got her dress in the North and had appalling problems with alterations. I wonder was it the same vendor? Are there many Pronovias stockists over here (I'm clueless!)? The shop that girl went with did all the alterations in-house and it was a mess. All sorts of scrambling the night before the wedding. All hands on deck, multiple Aunties all hauled out of bed to go sewing the bridesmaids' dresses, panicked texts sent all over the country searching for t*t-tape! Be sure to get a personal recommendation for a good seamstress (don't trust weddingsonline - they take down all the negative feedback).

To work out the US prices, add 21% to the price for VAT. The courier will just ask you to pay this at the doorstep before you take delivery. €765 + 21% is €925 so once your shipping and alterations are less than €700 you're still saving money!

I don't know anything about them personally but the ladies on here seem to consistently recommend House of Brides, Priscillas of Boston, and RK Bridal. Do you have a friend in the States even who could take delivery and then forward it on to you?

ETA - I checked out Brereton's window in O'Connell St, oh yummy!

A couple of us have the Anjolique, I''ll attach a picture...

I did love my dress, but I really like the Pronovias as well, it''s beautiful. Where will your ceremony be? As you know, the train on the Anjolique is pretty long...I had a beach wedding, but the ceremony was in grass and still I wish the train had been a tiny bit shorter. I did like that built-in corset, though, it kept everything nice and in place. Oh, and you should know, my alterations were expensive. Granted, I had to have a TON taken in in the bust and because of the corset, the beading and the boning, it was very expensive. I joke that it would have been cheaper to get implants....

This is a bad picture of me (it was immediately after our ceremony and I was sort of out of it), but it shows the dress...

NewEnglandLady....that dress suited you perfectly.
I already had it in mind to add a halter strap and get the train shortened should I decide to get that dress. I don''t really love strapless on me for some reason. My wedding is in a church and the reception is at a country house hotel. The lady said I could have a detachable halter for the evening and a shrug/bolero for the church which did look good..... I agree about the corset, unbelievable at holding you in. But then the alterations would be expensive....I know that for sure.

Angielea, can you give me the number of the shop in Iowa where you''re getting your dress? I wouldn''t hurt to see if they''d ship to Ireland I guess...bridalgown.net is blocked in here. they''re not an authorised retailer of Pronovias....Would you be sure the dress is real coming from them?
And valcollections I presume is a big no no....such a shame.......

Delster....yes, I am tall enough to carry off this dress....wouldn''t even need alterations to the length. The shop where I would get it in NI is in Banbridge, but I would get the alterations done in Douglas in the place where Rice n Roses send you if you buy your dress there. (that is a lovely shop by the way if you''re in the area ever....shopping for dresses...)
Definitely don''t trust weddingsonline...never see any bad reports on there which is ridiculous!
Aren''t the diamonds in Breretons just divine!

I prefer the 1st dress you posted in this thread. It''s more simple which tends to be my style.

Thanks so much Angielea....much appreciated!

NEL you look so gorgeous in that dress. And I think the bolero for the church sounds really pretty. It''s a very hard choice, both options are lovely!

I like both dresses you posted in this thread better than the other. It sounds like you like the way they look on you too which is a big deal. I personally think the pronovias is going to be the most flattering and would serious consider that one.

I normally prefer the ones with sparkles, but that first one is so gorgeous it gets my vote! I love it and I''ll bet it looks great on you.

I was going to say definitely number 1. It is so simple and elegant, but after seeing newenglandlady in her dress, I like number 2 a lot as well. It is so hard to say when we havent seen you in both dresses.

oh man... I gotta say the Watters is my favorite!

What''s your wedding like hazel. They are very different looks and I get a different feel from each of them.

My vote''s definitely for dress #1. I think it''s the epitome of understated elegance - LOVE it!

The state of Minnesota has no sales tax on clothing, so if you can get the same price from Rush Bridal on the dress as from other locations that might be a savings to you.

Another vote for Pronovias P.S. I''m a little biased because I LOVE PRONOVIAS.

Me too! It reminds me of Julia Roberts' "bell" dress in "The Runaway Bride."

Of course, that may not be the best association for a wedding dress...

Of the two new dresses you've posted, I'd definately go for no. 1.
