Hey Deco,

Just out of curiousity, if you don''t mind sharing, where in the North East do you live?

I haven''t read the whole car thread, have you considered Subaru''s? I know a lot of people with the new legacy sedan which is awd and very nice. The outback is super popular. They make lots of nice cars in fact - granted they aren''t as cute as Acura''s...

Scintillating...

Don''t'' have time to read through this whole thread, but I have 2 words for new car/SUV shoppers out there: Audi Q7. I test-drove one recently and just can''t get it out of my mind. The Q7 is extremely well-made, handled beautifully and had lots of nice safety and other features. IMHO, it really surpasses the competition in the luxury SUV category ...

Sounds like you made the perfect choice Deco... no buyer''s remorse necessary!! I had a Rav4 in college a couple years after they first came out... so definitely a different model, but all-around GREAT car. The gas mileage was actually fantastic for an SUV, and I never had a problem with it in the 3 or so years I had it. Perfect size for loading up kids, groceries, whatever (I was doing a lot of nanny-ing back then) but felt like you were driving a small car. Enjoy your new toy!!!

Thanks Ephemery! Glad to hear the RAV raves!!!

It is a cutie! So far, so good -- though I AM conducting a car de-tox, as I guess the former owner was a smoker *cough* *cough*. Oust Air Sanitizer and Febreze on the carpets have been my tools so far.

Anyone else have any "smoke out" the smoke-stink tips???

Certified Pre-owned doesn''t mean a hill of do-do. They do a basic check-up, and agree to extend the warranty. In exchange, they raise the price $2-3K!

Oh how I fear Alj''s judgement on this front!

As my shimmering new baby is quite Certified. Listen: I LOVED it. I may have even ponied up for the extended, extended warranty like the battle/Freelander-scarred soul I am.

Will you go easy on me if I tell ya that one of my best friends is now in love with the Highlander after I told her about all the raves here about it! I think it''s pretty sah-weet too (new, used, hybrid - all of ''em). And the PERFECT size for ''she of two car-seats'' -- expecting her 2nd widdleone in August!

No judgement here, sister.......one size does not fit all, so it''s up to you to get what works for you. You''re found that, and I''m DELIGHTED for you! WOO-HOO!

For me, the "certified pre-owned" thing is a bit like Tiffany''s.......I don''t mind someone buying Tiffany''s if they KNOW what they are paying the premium for (label, status, experience, etc.), but I hate people thinking it guarantees a quality that it really doesn''t. That is to say.......as long as you know that cert. pre-owned means you''re paying for peace of mind/extended warranty coverage (as opposed to thinking the car has passed some mythical 148-point inspection)......I say go for it.

NICE ride, and I''m delighted you found something that is TOTALLY what you wanted. There''s nothing as sweet as that. Both hubby and I are finally (at mid-30s, early 40s) in cars that we totally love and that we picked with no compromises.....not even color. With the amount of dough that cars cost these days

, you shouldn''t settle for anything less than what you are absolutely in love with. Congrats!

Just curious (and wanted to bump this thread) but has anyone looked at or know about the new Mazda SUV/Sports car, which is really cute, and looks sorta like the infiniti?

win

My CRV is a 97 and STILL kicking! I love it.
I know that eventually I''ll have to replace it. I was thinking of the Highlander Hybrid. I know that the gas mileage isn''t really that much better, but I want to support the technology.
Has anyone seen the documentary "Who Killed the Electric Car?" I really really really want to stop supporting the oil industry!
