Maybe it's just too much time on PS, but I'm a bit halo-ed out.
Goodness......ditto to that!

But, I did vote for the Leon. I have no idea why. I guess cause it has more 'bling' on it....

Leon here too. I love the look of a gemstone dressed up in diamonds, I find that it gives the stone A LOT of impact. The other ring is probably more wearable. It depends on what you are looking for, do you want to wear the ring everyday? Or for special occasions?

TG both are gorgeous. I voted for the James Meyer, love the simplicity of it. It''s simple yet elegant and has a great flair to it. The other is a much more ornate setting, which is stunning. But for what you want, as this will be worn by you and passed to Amelia, James Meyer is a great fit??
Both are beautiful, but I voted for the James Meyer for this very reason.

Can I make a counter offer? I had the extreme pleasure of meting Kismet this weekend and spending some time with her beautiful leon split shank. In spite of being a less-than-monster stone, the color really pops and the whole thing is well balanced and substantial. And blingy.

Wow, I hadn''t seen that ring before (and I looked through all of them on Leon''s site). That''s beautiful!!!

That style is on his site, just not my ring. Maybe this pic looks familiar.

I voted for the James Meyer. For the same reasons as Kaleigh.

sorry, but a halo is a halo is a halo....and they''re everywhere. this ring is meant for a gift to your daughter down the road and i think the bezel setting is classy and elegant which will weather the whims of fashion better than the halo.

Leon, no question. The leon would turn my head, the other, I would notice in passing.

I picked the James Meyer because it seems more practical for use on a daily basis. Even though I find myself drawn to the more elaborate settings, like the leon, I would never wear them because they don''t suit my personality. Oh, and I also LOVE bezels that aren''t haloed.

I voted Leon. I''m not feeling the James Meyer (although I know a lot of people are!) It just doesn''t sing to me.

James Meyer, but I would remove the round piece that looks like an oval with three lines cut into it. The Leon is gorgeous, but based on your tastes, those that I am aware of, and the purpose of the ring I''d definitely go that route.

I definitely think diamonds bring out the color of a colored gemstone. The Leon is totally gorgeous, but it wouldn''t match my casual lifestyle very well. the James Meyer is much more practical for casual wear.

However, I want to propose compromise. Get a James Meyer setting with small side diamonds to add a little contrast (but in the metal color of your choosing):

Thanks DS...I hate to admit it but most of JM''s settings don''t appeal to me. What I love about Coati''s ring (among many things) is how the bezel is perched on the balls of those split prongs. As I said, a lot of the other stuff looks like silver rings I already have. I appreciate you taking the time out to look for me!

Kimberly, LOL. I believe that oval thing is supposed to represent a leaf.

Surprisingly, the James Meyer struck me instinctively when I first looked at the photos - I''m normally always a fan of both Leon and bling as compared to not, but for some reason that JM bezel just really stands out to me...

I admittedly have a halo addiction, so I said Leon Mege.

I voted for Leon. Both settings are stunning. I love the setting kismet posted, too. Yum!

Hey--I had to hunt this thread down to confess to you that I hated the concept of the balls at first--hahaha!

Too "worldbeat" or something. I asked him if he could minimize them, and nope! When I got the ring, I saw how tiny and necessary they are to the design--they are unobtrusive and I love them...now.

I definitely feel you, on some of the other designs. That is why I ultimately went so plain. His work is definitely more delicate in person, though.

totally agree with AG!

I voted #2, but only b/c I like symmetry. I do think #1 is pretty. But I also have never known anyone in real life who has a halo, and when I tried them on, they were just way too much for me. So for that reason of simplistic is more, maybe #1 is better. Hehe no help, I know.

OK not a choice...but I totally vote for something like Kismet''s ring. Good grief that is stunning. Leon and heirloom worthy, but not a typical halo. Swooooooon.

While Kismet''s ring is lovely, it''s not something I''d ever wear because it''s just too much bling for me.

This choice makes my brain hurt. They are both so dreamy! Part of what I love about the Leon (one of my all time faves - right up there with Harriet''s tsavorite
30.gif
) is the rectangular shape of the center stone and halo and I don''t know if it would have the same impact without a rectangular center stone. I can''t wait to hear what he has in mind for your magnificent pad
30.gif
. I love the JM setting and thing it would be beautiful with any shaped stone. Can''t wait to see what you do with that magical stone.
I also like this sketch from the JM site, but can''t seem to find a photo of the finished project...

Where do you plan to wear the ring? The Leon design seems too busy for daily wear.

I really REALLY like that one. It incorporates all of my favourite elements from the pointy prongs, metal bezel-like halo, split shank and yet retains a feminine softness with some scroll work.

That is pretty! But I think that would look awesome with a big rock!!

MC, I''d be wearing this whenever I go out without the kid, and when she gets older, probably a bit more. I work from home so I rarely wear my rings during workdays.

Coati, "worldbeat", lol....

Talked to Leon today briefly. He wants to take a look at the stone and as I said, we''ll go from there. I''ll keep everyone posted on this thread and the pad thread on colored stones. Thanks so much for your help. After so many votes, it''s still so close, lol!

I voted Leon just going with my gut... I thin the white contrasts so well with the colour of the stone.

The notion of "halo''s" out is interesting to me! I think it is a PS thing. I love halos and actually am seriously thinking of getting one, and I was just thinking how they are too common and I want something unique... but like others have noted, I don''t know *one single* person in real life with a halo!

I voted for the James Meyer setting. It really spoke to me, and I''ve since been happily browsing his site. I really love his work, and some of his pieces remind me a little of one of my favorite designers, Elizabeth Gage. (plus, honestly, LM''s jewelry usually leaves me cold. I can appreciate the quality, but we have very different aesthetic sensibilities)

I think whatever direction you go in, though, you will have an amazing ring.

I''d vote Leon..but with some of your modificatons, not so much pave...

I voted the Leon. BUT, I would get it without the halo. Maybe a bezel instead?

I love them both though. I heart split shanks.

I can''t wait to hear what Leon''s ideas are. Keep us posted, like ya wouldn''t. LOL.
