White gems...

I have a 9mm round Danburite pendant solitaire, and a humungous oval white topaz ring -- both are set in sterling silver. I also have a gorgeous 7mm round white zircon ring set in rhodium. Possibly the white zircon ring could be mistaken for a diamond substitute or an engagement ring, but I sized it to wear on my index finger. If you were to go with a smaller carat white stone and/or a more traditional engagement-ring-style setting, maybe size it for your middle or index finger?

I was going to suggest white zircon also, but because they can appear diamondlike, you''d probably want to be sure it was huge or set so it definitely looked like a gemstone ring.

Don''t zicrons have a lot of rainbow fire like diamonds, while the rest of these have just the white sparkle? Maybe I am making it up, but that is one way I usually use to tell.

I have a white topaz from Barry and numerous white sapphires. To me, they look nothing like diamonds and I don''t worry about them getting mixed up.

Yes, they show dispersion, but how obvious it is will depend a lot on cutting. Usually it''s easier to tell them apart (from diamonds) by the lack of sharpness in their scintillation, weaker contrast in the facet reflections etc.
