anyone taken a peek at the new whiteflash look?! www.whiteflash.com
i love the new logo and overall look of the site! kudos to the design team at/for whiteflash!

anyone seen the x-factor in person?

alj and i saw the xfactor and their ES princesses when we visited in may. i'm surprised they haven't come up with a better name yet than xfactor!!

anyway, my initial impression of the xfactor is that it's like a jubilee kind of stone. cut cornered princess kind of thing with a lot of light return. pretty. but personally nothing i haven't seen before, considering i have a regent. but i think that for those considering something like a jubilee, if you are not able to get one, then the xfactor could be another option for sure. beautiful light return.

WF's upcoming princesses were the star of the show for me on our visit. we posted pictures of both their princesses and the xfactor in our thread in hangout back in may. the princesses were amazing. i was kind of slowly becoming a princess lover but i don't like how so many of them are not that well-cut. these things were ON FIRE. i immediately started thinking about a 3 stone princess right hand ring made with these beauties. just wonderful. i regularly scour their ES princess list for a J SI2 or something that maybe i could afford but so far they have a lot of F VS kinda stuff. someday....

(eta i see they now have ACA princess so maybe those are the ones we saw, all i know is they had superior light return!)

the new site looks very cool. then again i am a fan of simple and not a lot of flash so the old site worked fine for me too, but this is definitely a more modern and professional look...and probably will inspire positive feelings in newbies who happen upon the site, since buying on the internet gets such flak sometimes. having a really professional site can assist that first impression, definitely.

Eh, I'm not sure about the new site.
I don't like all the flash - and in the photos of jewelry pieces the background looks a little 80s stone-washed for me. (blech.)

I'm not a fan of "computerized" images on the web, I'd rather they use good "life like" photos of a jewelry piece so I can see how it actually looks.

I hate how they did the custom gallery! There aren't any thumbnail images you can select to view, it's all flash, and annoying!

Scintillating...

I do like the new design and also like the ''x-factor''...yummy

I''m on a Mac and the new site sadly doesn''t work for me AT ALL. I can''t click on anything ... just windows pop up that don''t lead anywhere. *Sigh*

Bummer.

It''s ok, kinda dark, but I guess I''ll get used to it.

Thanks for the comments.

Some sections, like the Gallery and 'About Diamonds,' are still works-in-progress and will be evolving. You may see that our ring/earring builders are not available yet either. There are a few sections like this - we went live because we were anxious to make some new product lines available for consumers.

There will be an ongoing process of adjustment and revision, so we appreciate your patience.

I like the look in general, but the photos in the "gallery" going from one ring to another kinda made me feel like I do when I try to read in the car...

ETA - John and I must has been typing at the same time. I see that the "gallery" is a work in progress. Maybe the final version won't make me quite so queasy, LOL!

I agree about it being a tad dark Ellen...it''s a little too much dark gray and black and muted whites for me. I thought maybe it was just my eyes but maybe not.

LOVE those princesses!!!! I do agree that it''d be awesome to see some real life images as well as the vanity images going on, there''s nothing like those real life photos that show the sparkles in the stone, yum.

Anyway kudos to the WF team...site redesigns can take forever and there are SO many elements and emotions that go into it. I remember being up at 5am on launch days finalizing and proofing with teams when I worked in eComm...gotta love it. Then you still find things that are wrong after launch and you go ''how did the 20 of us looking at the site miss THAT?''.

Deco - I have a call into our program team about this.

ETA: If you're using Safari, see the below. It should work in browsers other than Safari (?)
There are still some issues with Firefox, but those will be cleared up - hopefully by tomorrow.

We would appreciate it if you can let us know what might be working.

Safari 1.2 Help

Webpages aren't working

If features of webpages don't seem to work, you may have turned off the use of plug-ins, Java, or JavaScript, or you may have set Safari to block pop-up windows.

Choose Preferences from the Safari menu and click Security. Make sure that the checkboxes to use plug-ins, Java, and JavaScript are selected and that the "Block pop-up windows" checkbox is not selected.

If your Security preferences are set this way and the page doesn't work, choose Report Bugs to Apple from the Safari menu to report the problem.

If you open webpages that you trust, then allowing pages to use plug-ins, Java, and JavaScript will not risk the security of your computer.

~~I love their new site...I''m having so much fun looking through all the new stuff!!

Mara, I don't think it's our eyes, as much as the old format was just so much brighter, totally different. I closed it out, waited awhile and went back, and the difference was not quite as noticable. I think it's just gonna take a bit for those of us accustomed to seeing the old format.

BTW, I don''t ever recall seeing those diamond stud jackets, are those new, or did I somehow just miss them?

I re-started Firefox & am able to view more stuff now than I was so my own computer might be some of the problem

. The main "diamond" page is still wonky though ..

*some images that won't load
*middle section not centered
*pop up windows are aggressive, distracting & confusing (flicker on & off randomly & very very quickly)

Maybe I'll try again in a day or so! Can't wait to ooogle those X-factors!

ETA: tried the Gallery & it worked for me: UMMMM split prong Asscher basket STUDS!!!

deco, that''s what i was going to recommend. i know safari doesn''t play nice to some sites!

i agree with the don''t-like-flash comments. i''m into clean-easy-to-understand-design. lots of times i feel flash is just WAY overdone. it''s like they (they, meaning no one in particular) know how to use it so they throw it up there. i agree that the WF site doesn''t need all of these tricks. but, i do think it''s better than what was up there before. and the logo is miles better.

That logo gives me a headache looking at it. White on black and too busy!!!

It probably doesn''t matter because I suspect I''m the last person on earth to be stuck with dial-up, but I haven''t the patience to wait for different pages to upload. I usually end up giving up and moving on....

There''s not enough contrast for some of the writing... it''s okay. Stylistically I like it a tad more, but I''m not gaga for it. It has potential. They need to tweak some of their fontwork.

i agree. especially the typeface used on the gallery flash.

hm. logo is nicer. layout looks more modern. but put me in the camp that hates flash. ugh... I don''t even have it installed on my firefox, on purpose.

any chance of a flash-free version?!

John, the Xfactor princess is AMAZING!

And so reasonably priced. Hmmm.... I feel a pendant looming in my future.

As soon as we are done with our never ending remodeling projects (new porch & basement in queue for our disposable $$) I am sending my hubby your way!!!

Durned porch & icky basement. Why...why am I so practical?????

The website has a lovely and professional appearance, but to me it looks too much like a copy of adiamondisforever.com. The black background...is really what makes it similar.

The site does look very nice but I do think

1. It is similar to DeBeers.com (adiamondisforever.com) with the way it''s structured and the color palette.
2. It is fairly dark (the greys and browns against the black are a little too dark)
3. The women''s faces that keep scrolling and coming in and out of focus are distracting (I see all face, no diamonds).

However the update otherwise is really nice.

Thanks for the observations.

We appreciate the time you're taking to make them.

To answer the questions about Flash: There are 3 flash landings on the site; main page, XF preview, & gallery movie. When the gallery is updated that movie will become optional...and (based on suggestions) we may have the main page cycle once when you land and stop (no loop).

FYI - You can right-click and stop the flash, although this must be done each time.

As for 'Flash-free?' - Whiteflash will never be truly flash free.

Hm, definitely agree it needs tweaking.

Don''t care much for the x-factor...but haven''t seen it in person, obviously. I definitely think it could use a better name!

hehehe carebear nice catch on the stone image! i actually spent a few minutes looking at that going ''is that really my stone?''...i had to go back through my thread to find the image. how fun! purty.

Yeah, kinda ex-girlfriend + X-box.

Hey John, let''s call it a Fairy Princess?

Hi John,

I found your new site by accident this am, and couldn't get the search for other shapes to work. I was trying to search for emerald cuts, and it kept coming up with rounds. and, I guess there are no more emerald expert selectons? too bad...

I am using Safari, and other than getting this search to work, the site seemed to navigate fine at first blush (I didn't spend a lot ot time navigating through it besides the stone search engine, which I tried several times, but always got rounds).
