The clutch was just too pretty! I couldn't leave it there.
I think it's from the 1950s-60s. The pearls are all hand sewn, and it's in great condition.......I have a few vintage evening bags......why, I don't know. They're just pretty and glittery so I buy them!

I found some interesting things lately.

I bought this sterling rosary in a thrift store last week. Purple glass beads. I think 1900-1920. I paid $4.00






And today I got all this stuff.
A Wolf earring box, $1.00
Someone please explain to me how earrings are supposed to work in this thing ......






And look at these Tiffany candlesticks!






And this vintage pearl clutch, $1.00
It's surprisingly heavy because the pearls are glass.






And the BEST thing.......this Japanese block print! I'm so excited about this one!
I have a small collection of Japanese block prints....I'm by no means an expert, however!
The artist is Kitagawa Utamaro.
It depicts Kintaro pulling Yama-Uba's hair.
Kintaro is a Japanese folk character and Yama-Uba was the "mountain witch" who raised him.

Ok. I found this at a thrift store for 50 cents.
It's a carved ivory netsuke, which is a Japanese toggle ornament for a man's kimono. He has amber eyes!
The holes on the bottom are for a cord to pass through.

I love this so much! Great find.

A few things I acquired this week...
These things are from an estate sale.
An American portrait plate from about 1910. Isnt she luscious?
Also, an early 1920s celluloid matchbox cover with a photo insert. Complete with pristine matches from the 1940's.
And DH's dad stopped by with a sewing machine from 1913. "You guys want this?" Ummm, yeah!

Anyways you found some great things there, I don't see a lot of Wedgewood in my travels oddly. I love love love the dog brooch.

You know what's funny is I don't even know if anyone reads this thread, I kind of feel like it's just the two of us sitting down and talking about vintage over coffee lol!

Hubby and I are going to try and hit a few pawn shops on Saturday. The owner of one told me he had a few .25-.5 carat OEC rings that he would bring over from another one of his stores. Meanwhile, my little rhinestone bikini brooch came in yesterday. It's cute and very sparkly!


I found this Citizen Eco-Drive watch at a pawn shop about a month ago. They were asking $235 for it and came down to $185. I decided to pass on it (way too much money for me). Then I found the identical model, in great condition, on Ebay for $55, so I bought it. It has diamond accents and a pretty mother of pearl face. I love the way it looks with my wedding set.

My house isn't as cluttered as I make it sound!
I have 2 glass display cases, and some bookshelves in the office room. I mostly limit myself to small objects, unless I see a piece of furniture that I can't live without. I have antique dishes displayed on the walls in the kitchen.
I have colorful glass items in some windowsills. Of course I have lots of art on the walls, too!

i am being very bad
looking at royal bits and pieces on trade me (NZ Ebay)
im trying to be good and rational, my collection is already quite large and needs to be paired down, despite what i paid most of it is pretty much worthless, stuff of Queen Vic from her time is half the price i paid
so im trying to be smart like the PS gals from this thread
only buy things im in love with and stick to budget
oh there is a cameo of Elizabeth and Philip i would love, it is unset but comes with the brass frame - i would maybe set it in ss so i would wear it ....oh the possibilities, ive set an autobid

so the cream jug of our late Queen's silver jubilee was $10 on another listing so i got this 4 instead, i really wanted Queen Mary and King George V (I'm a great admirer of Queen Mary) but one also commemerates the 1918 armistice - im not sure what the 4th one is?
Am i learning or what !!

From those photos I would say it does look like plastic or resin to me. Something about the color being too even, and the texture of the back being too smooth, and the pin being glued on. But I could be wrong!

year, it looks moulded at best
but so far only $8

it'll just mean i price down what ever im going to do with it
but i will ditch the brass no matter what
my guy doesnt have a problem working on stuff that isnt fine jewlery
maybe just put in on a silver ring with a bale

The cameo is very interesting. Resin/plastic items are certainly acceptable especially in vintage items like this!
It would be pretty in a new frame. You can take a measurement and order one from a jewelry supplier.

last night i couldn't sleep (humidity = asthma) so i was looking at some of the lovely PS cameos your's including
but i dont think id be clever enough to measure it right to order in like that
i wouldnt want it to end up being a 6 or is it now 7 year project like my Whitby jet as i blunder along ordering the wrong thing over and over

I found this old listing on Etsy. This one is missing the frame, as you can see 4 little bite marks where the frame used to grip onto the cameo. Cool piece!
