Who wants to see my haul from today?

No, I’m in the U.S. @Daisys and Diamonds, not sure who would even be the go to for something like this. For now I’ll put it in my jewelry box with all the silver. More of a collection piece you know?

not that i can think of any just now :(2
but i have come acrooss them in the past

im glad you bought it and now it can be someone's 'treasure' again

@YadaYadaYada
Does your hubby have a Dremel tool?
They sell polishing compound and buffing wheels at the hardware store that are accessories for the tool.
It couldn't hurt. It won't look 100%, but it could be improved. The real damage is already done. It could only get better!

I think he does and if not our mad scientist neighbor probably does. Will look into it and if I make any progress worth reporting I will post it.

I picked up this piece this weekend. It's my first ceramic/pottery. I think I've seen it on this thread before too. :lol-2: I am having a hard time dating it, any pottery experts want to help? 20220122_164423.jpg20220122_161051.jpg
I have a feeling it's fairly modern.

Yay, Wedgwood Jasperware! My favorite.
I have this piece in green. The copyright circle was added in 1974, so your piece dates after that.
Here is a handy reference for older pieces:
"Dating Wedgwood" http://www.thepotteries.org/mark/w/wedgwood-date.html
Here is the back of mine, it doesn't have the copyright mark, but says '62', the year that it was made.

Sunday DH and I went to the faraway antique place, they have a ton of jewelry, SO many rings. I tried on at least six including an old mine cut, it was a pretty stone but the setting was all wrong for it.

Anyways DH helped me pick out this ring, it’s a style I’ve been looking at and am very drawn to because my mom’s engagement ring was similar but her diamond was like 15 points. This one is a 55 to 60 point OEC with a straight baguette on either side probably a total of 70 points all together. I consider it an anniversary present to mark our upcoming 15th.

The facet pattern is different from my Queen ring, maybe this one leans a bit more transitional.

So pretty! Such a bright and clear stone!
And that mid century mounting is wonderful!

well i absolutly adore it !

@stracci2000, it is so bright even in that last picture which is the worst lighting in my house. If it passes the living room light test then it’s a keeper ;)2

Aw thanks @Daisys and Diamonds, I adore it too especially because it is reminiscent of my mom’s ring.

I love a good midcentury setting! And the stone looks gorgeous, with such a lovely pattern. Hooray!

Thank you! I love mid century too, well that and every other century right? When I tell you there were so many old cuts there it is no lie. It was hard to come home with just one

Hi @YadaYadaYada
Would you let me know where your faraway antique place is located? :)

Thank you! I am in state, and somehow, I don't remember ever visiting there-I'll have to check it out

Yes definitely, make sure you visit both of their buildings (there is one in the back).

There is also the Clinton Antique Center not far from there but not sure if they are open or hours. I would call to confirm with them, they have been a bit unpredictable with the pandemic ongoing understandably.

Thanks! You found such a pretty ring!

We all want to go. You must plan a field trip for us!

Thanks @Paisley2628, I’m really happy with it =)2

@stracci2000, I think the next PS GTG should be a pawn shopping expedition but we are coming to you. Your places have the good stuff cheap!

Field trip to Stracci’s and she has pretty tea cups to host breakfast too!

The Trove in Old Saybrook, CT

No joke, @YadaYadaYada the last time DH and I went up to Mystic we had breakfast at The Tea Kettle, just a few doors down from The Trove, and had no idea it was even there! Ughhhhh, opportunity missed!!!

Oh, I had lunch at The Tea Kettle with @natasha-cupcake! You really need to check it out if you are ever back out that way. I think they had an entire wall of pancake flavors if I remember correctly.
