Won't use rose gold for earring posts?

That would not look very good.

I would get them made as studs, they just don’t have photos of them on their site

this is the style….I actually prefer french wire

They are actually really similar to these - and they are another Japanese brand and use solid rose gold…

Or this 2nd brand has another style with French hooks, again solid rose gold is an option

maybe I should just buy from the brand with solid rose gold and return if they bother me after a day or 2

I would go with a post backing rather than a different colored ear wire.

I have been also told that RG is more snappy/brittle and that posts/connections made of RG are more problematic.

Of the two, I prefer Katoka, but of course, Katoka is $$$. Katoka is super delicate too. I saw some in NYC at CatBird after liking the designs, but I am not a petite person, so decided Katoka was too delicate for me.

Definitely agree with the French wires- I was not considering two toned except for posts

Maybe it would be worth it to save up for the Kataoka and check out their pieces in NYC one day. I love dainty jewelry even though I’m not petite - hah!

I also just saw that they set heirloom stones on their website…which I assumed was impossible. I have a few small diamonds that would be well suited to their pieces….

anyways, appreciate your 2 cents!

After all of that hullabaloo, they decided they won't make any aspect of the earrings in rose gold!

They said it wasn't a popular metal choice and their bench decided to stop working with it.

I think this will also give me a chance to experiment and buy a less expensive pair of studs to see if RG even works for my body chemistry.

I just got these lil cuties from Megan Thorne!

The French wire version looked better than the post stud style anyway. Now you don't have to choose the design to better align the metal color. If RG works for your body chemistry, you can get more rose gold earrings in the future too! :)
Enjoy those pretty leaf studs!

I think you are totally right. If the little studs go well, I will just save up for the Kataoka version as they are unfortunately about double the price. I plan on wearing the little leaf studs in my 2nd piercing anyways! And the Kataoka earrings look to be better quality anyhow as their workmanship is exquisite!

My skin eats rhodium but has never had any issues with rose gold - I’ve got several rose gold earrings with posts and hooks, varying alloys and karats. The fact that Tiffany, VCA, Cartier, and other massively successful global brands happily sell earrings with RG components (18k only) makes me personally confident and comfortable with the metal ::)

That's a good plan! Worth saving up to get the better quality Kataoka if all goes well.

It is so funny how much body chemistry plays a role!

I am actually hoping to buy a Tiffany's RG necklace, so will start there. Squeee I am so excited! It will be modest by PS standards but my first Tiffany's piece (well...unless you count a hideous, chunky sterling silver choker with hematite beads that was painfully 2005ish surfer d00d vibes  )

It looked just like this...ugh! What was I thinking! I think I gave it away years ago out of embarrassment...

Most jewelers carry yellow and white gold in stock. I imagine they just have to special order/custom make the rose gold earring parts. I've had to do that several times when I ordered rose gold things. My daily earrings are 14kt RG and they have prevented no problems in terms of discoloration.

That is interesting. Thanks for sharing your experience with RG.

The vendor said even as a special order - they won't do it anymore. Shame! It just means that they aren't the right jeweler for me...oh well!
