Thanks Gailey for your thoughtful and well put reply, and providing your points.

I hope it wasn''t the citrine, especially after I dissed it (sorry about that).
I''ve already got the best piece of citrine Peter cut TL - ever!

There are many good things about this forum and one of them is healthy discussion and varied viewpoints. We don''t always have to agree among us. We each of us are looking for something different in the stones we buy. For some it''s colour, for some - cut, others look for a good price point. Variety is the spice of life!

I think it will be a very lucky girl that picks up that rose quartz, it''s amazing!

Also in my parcel will be the pair of garnets that sparked some concern of the NSC photoshopping thread. I will have a bit of a photoshoot when they all arrive. I need to find a way to eliminate the aqua reflection from the front of my new Cannon point and shoot. It takes amazing macro shots, but everything has an aqua tinge in it.

Here''s the garnets heading my way!

Good Morning ladies (and a very Good Afternoon to Liz!)

I got the blue spinel, isn''t she beautiful. Never been attracted to anything blue before. I hope Losty will be proud of me.
Congratulations Gailey, I hope you take photos when it arrives. I think it''s pretty.

Well, my friend that''s the first time I''ve been considered a kon-wasser of anything!

Its a gorgeous blue. When do you get it? Or, would you like to ship it to my house, and I''ll hold onto it until you move to Eastern Canada?
LS

Just so you know, I was up at 9:30 today, so it still wasn''t afternoon in the states yet!

I''m a happy camper on two counts--you got something BLUE, and you got SPINEL.

WOOT!

Congratulations on your spinel Gailey, that purplish blue looks lovely - can''t wait to see your pics.

The spinel is a gorgeous shade of blue, Gailey! I''m really looking forward to seeing your pictures of it.

Haha at first, I thought she also meant "lost". But Lost Sapphire came to my head. And I was right!

Morganite 2.42ct., 7.99x7.98x6.33mm. Asscher

Pretty, understated pastel morganite from Brazil. I had a difficult time photographing this far too much gray in the image; the stone is crisp & clean.

VL,

The sunstone is amazing, too. Are you interested in it?

Lori

Interested like a tourist! I went overbudget and took that green tourmaline that has been languishing for no reason at finewater. I really have more to work with than I need (not that that will stop me!) but now i have to carve some graphite molds out and make my electrum* alloy so I can make settings for all the things I ve been designing and planning and buying stones for.

*Electrum- natural ore of gold and silver used in Lydian coinage variously composed of 40-70%gold, the balance being silver. It is a pale yellow sometimes greenish. I will be making it 50:50 so in legal parlance it will be 12k, but i shall call it Electrum. containing no copper will make it easier to work with since mostly I will be doing hand forging with a minimum of fabrication. I have a 57 carat amethyst sugarloaf nearing completion. I''ll start a new thread to post that. Oh but back to the matter at hand, some of the projects I am about to start will have Peter''s stones in them. An ultra-extraordinary green tourmaline and an amazing tiny spinel.

Gailey,
I think the violetish blue spinel is the nicest stone out of the new offering for the month. A good choice!

OH! I can''t wait to hear what that Spinel looks like to you IRL! And if you could post photos that would be great! Congrats it looks lovely from the vendor photos.

I love your new blue, Gailey! Do you know how you are going to have it set? Whatever you do will be beautiful
