Would love input on Sapphire ring CAD design in progress

Wow, it is so much more textural than it was originally!! I love the more intricate scalloping (and added scallops), and the slight gap is gone! I also prefer the "draped" or "curtain" gallery to the original. With regard to the number of diamonds on the shoulders, I think you could certainly go with five on each side. Will they continue to graduate in size? While I don't think you need to add them, I never say no to more bling. I'm super psyched to see the finished piece!!

I‘m glad you like those changes! I don’t have anything like this in my collection, so it’s neat to see all of the design details in the CAD. The gallery design @CHRISTY-DANIELLE suggested is more to my taste too! I would ask for the two additional shank diamonds to continue to graduate in size. I think it would look nice with three diamonds the way it is now, so I’m still thinking that change over. I'm excited to see your finished piece as well!!

I think this looks so much better too!
But I played with it using the larger 2.4 mm stones instead. The cad can make things look really big but if you note the size on the cad...13 is mm diameter (?). I think on sz 8+ finger it might appear smaller on your hand than you think. If you like this then maybe ask for a cad with the larger halo stones too so you can compare side by side... with the larger stones and larger circumference the 3 stones on the shoulder are perfect.

Rough example, but the approximation if what the larger stone design would look like on. My finger is about a sz 8.

You're so clever! I like this tweak too.

So what color polish are we wearing today? :lol-2: It sort of looks like "Cords" by China Glaze, another favorite of mine for this time of year.

It’s great to hear you think it looks better too! I love the look of the gallery with the design you suggested! I was starting to wonder if the ring would be too large for everyday wear, but it doesn’t look too large on your hand. Thanks for sharing the mock-ups!

It sounds like my biggest decision now is whether to go with the 2mm round brilliants supplied by David for the halo or use my larger 2.4mm oec’s from the stick pin. I‘ll have to think about it because I like both!

That's why I think it's worthwhile to have DK do a cad with the 2.4s as well. Just to compare.
I'm glad you like that gallery! I think it's perfect with the overall design :)

I’m wondering if I could get thoughts on the original halo orientation vs the new halo orientation? They are two very different looks and once again, I like them both!
I’m wondering if there is a preference for one over the other?
I just want to make sure I am going in the right direction before asking for any additional changes.

Always bigger diamonds @2Neezers !!!
This made me laugh! My near vision is getting worse as I get older, so bigger diamonds would be easier to see! :D

That is a great suggestion and I will definitely ask! I hope it’s not too much trouble for David to do the cad with 2.4mm’s. I think your gallery design is perfect too! It’s very pretty and as someone who likes to keep their rings very clean, I also appreciate that the design is open enough to scrub with a toothbrush :).

Oh I vastly prefer the second! For me, it's not even a contest. I do like the larger diamonds though, as Christy and mellow pointed out. So if DK thinks it's feasible, that might be a nice compromise between CAD 1 and 2. :D

I live by the rules of: Always bigger diamonds

And

Always diamonds with CS!

These are excellent rules to live by!!

I'm waiting with baited breath for the updated CAD with larger diamonds...

I received a reply saying he would show me :D. I’ll share as soon as I have it!

He also said it might be possible the 2.4mm's sizes are not correct. I’m not certain, but I’m taking that to mean he guesstimated the size of my oec’s based on what I told him they were sold to me as, but they might not actually be 2.4mm..

The new CAD looks great! I love the new orientation (it fits the elongated cushion better) and the scalloping around the middle is lovely. I do like the mock up @CHRISTY-DANIELLE did so I’d ask if larger diamonds are possible too. It sure can’t hurt. :Up_to_something:
Yay! I’m glad you like the CAD and the layout! I think they did a great job on the scalloping too :)) .

I’m also trying to decide whether or not to add milgrain. It looks like the original inspiration piece had milgrain at one point, but it has been mostly polished away. David does amazing very fine milgrain, so I may just add it..
Any thoughts on to milgrain or not to milgrain?

Um…hell yes! I am milgrain obsessed! I think a piece like this would look even more gorgeous with milgrain.

I am a huge fan of milgrain and DKs is phenomenal. Just be clear if you want it fine. Milgrain just elevates these vintage styles. ❤

Three votes for milgrain! I‘m a big fan of milgrain too! I’m happy you all agree it will work well for this piece! :))

I have the CAD from David showing 2.4mm diamonds! I’ll share them below along with the 2mm diamond version for comparison.
At first glance, I am more drawn to the proportions of the CAD in the 2mm version. As a PSer shouldn't I want to go bigger? I’m going to have to take a closer look tomorrow with fresh eyes!

I’d love to hear what you all think :))

The 2.4mm for me too. The propositions look excellent. It’s really going to be beautiful

It’s the 2.4 for me. There’s a lot of metal in this design and I think the 2.4 gives it a nicer balance between metal and bling. Just my 2 cents and at the end of the day, you should do what your heart wants. It’s going to be gorgeous either way…especially since you decided yes on the milgrain.

I like the looks of both - but feel the 2.0 mm version is closer in look to your inspo ring proportions.
