Hi Ladies,
So, we are back to the drawing board with BM dresses (were going to go with Ann Taylor, but that did not work out because their largest size is slightly too small for one of the girls.) Here are 3 options my BM and I found this weekend. Keep in mind she is a size 0 (ahhh!) and my other girls are very thin, except one who is maybe a size 18 or 20 and has a large chest. I also model each of the three dresses to get a sense of what it looks like on a curvier girl like myself (I am between a size 6-8 but I have a large chest too, though not as large as my BM''s).

Anyway....i''ll post the various options on each of us. Please also keep in mind that we want to do a pink color, so let me know how you envision each of these in shades of pink (ie would the dress look worse in pink??)

#1 on Skinny BM :)

I like #1 and there is more of a chance they can wear it again.

lastly.....dress 3 again! Whooop - that was tiring! :) Thanks for any and all suggestions :)
This isn't the most flattering on me (and it's not clipped so it doesnt look great) - but i worry about this v neck option as it doens't make large chested girls look great.

I could give them a choice between 1 and 3 b.c they come in exact same colros....

Oh now that I see 3 I really like 3.... between 1 and 3 for me. If I was your bridesmaid I would want dress #3.

Lastly, we didnt get to try this one but I suspect we might like it - it reminds me of both #1 and #3 -

I also think three is the nicest option and would me the one I would wear. As I am also a size zero, I think that fit would be the best.

I really like #1 and 3, but it''s hard for me to envision them in pink

I really like the colors they are!

That said, I think #2 will look the best on the curvy BM because the fabric isn''t so shiny and won''t show every, ahem, curve (this is coming from a curvy girl, so I think you should try to get what looks best on her as it will be more difficult to find something that works and that she feels comfortable in than the skinny BMs). I REALLY don''t like the neckline of it. So if you could modify the neckline to a sweetheart or not so spikey, #2 is my favorite. Plus it''s easier for me to imagine in pink

Between 1 and 3 for me, with a preference for number 3 because of the straps and comfort of them for the heavy chested lady.

Ditto. And as a DD myself, I''d say that the v-neck shape is always more flattering than a straight across the top strapless or a sweetheart strapless because it doesn''t create uniboob. But the straps just seal the deal, because then you can wear a more supportive undergarment.

Plus I really like those two dresses, and I don''t like #2''s neckline. Not so flattering for anyone''s chest.

Thanks so much for the comments and help! Freke - it''s funny that you find v neck more flattering with the large chest! I thought that one looked the worst on me because of my larger chest. But I will check with my BM and see what she thinks - she may agree that the one with straps is the most supportive :)

I think the color pink I would go with is the one I posted above (the Alvina Valenta one we didn''t get to try on...)

Thanks again for your help!

I''m going against the crowd as I adore number 2. I have a DD/E chest also and I always find when wearing a v-neck that everyones eyes are only focused on one (well two

) things and I wouldn''t want that at my wedding. I adore the dress that you didn''t get to try on though.

Lol. I forgot to mention that I really like #4, I think that one is very cute.

I wish that when I was a bridesmaid for my SIL I could have had such cute choices. BTW-I was a 32EE-F when I had to wear her dress and it did NOTHING for me (Yellow-y orange, 2 piece (thank goodness because I had to get a top that was 2 sizes bigger than the bottom because my chest was so ginormous!) a collar, and a wrap top). Bridesmaid''s dresses are hard to choose, but I don''t think SIL had ANY of us in mind when she chose them. I''m glad to see that you''re putting lots of thought into what would look good on them.

I really think that if #3 was altered just a little bit, the straps taken up, and the underarm seam taken in, it would have been very flattering on you and the larger "ladies". Plus, the correct undergarments can make a world of difference.

I really like #2, and I like the folds on the top. I would be concerned with #3 for the larger girl just because that one requires a bit of an hourglass figure. My mom is a larger woman and she is definitely an apple shape and could never wear #3 for that reason. So I would definitely ask what she thinks about it....

I think #2 looks great on both of you, and since it is an empire waist your larger BM might like it more too?

PS I recognize those that store, were they nice to you at HCTB? I recognize those gorgeous folding chairs in in the dressing room area

Haha, Kara - they were pretty nice....although one saleswoman yelled at us for leaving a clip on the floor :) Whoops!

Well, I'm glad you find it funny.

Yeah, a collar...Bill Levkoff Very similar to this one, only the yellow color (which is garish in real life) and with a big fat collar on it...

It was me, 5'2, curvy with giant boobs, 5'1 ex-cheerleader/aerobics instructor (my other evil SIL), 5'10 with a few curves, but relatively skinny, and her MOH who was around 5'7, and had basically a perfect figure (like the bride herself) and had reportedly picked out the dress.

No one really looked good in it between the combo of the color and the style. Me-golden brown hair, blue eyes, light skin Evil SIL-red hair, tan skin, brown eyes, Tall girl- Dark brown hair, brown eyes, medium skin and MOH- blonde, tan, green eyes.

Ok. No more threadjacking...for today.

My friend, also plus-size w/large chest, couldn''t wear #3. V-chest generally looks good, but that one is too low for her - she would be showing off way too much cleavage. I think it looks good on you, so it depends how large the BM''s bust in question is.

If your larger friend is willing to go strapless, I think #1 would work. Its pretty flattering, and the two-piece makes it easier to accommodate different halves.

#2 seems to add extra umph to the bust, which might help the small ones but not the large, and number #4 is not great for busty/plus-size at all! Perfect and form-fitting for the thin ones with a little curve, however.

Given your drastic size differences, you might be the poster-bride for letting your BMs choose their own style within fabric and skirt-length constraints.

As a 'larger girl' (size 14-16 Aussie sizes, US sizes no clue), who has been even larger (just lost 50 pounds!), I can chime in with some advice. I was recently MOH and we had dress issues, both of us being curvy.

I would def stay away from satin or any shiny material, it makes even the thinnest figure look at big lumpy around underwear lines and the tummy/bum area. I personally find a deep V flattering for larger figures, and will look great for the thinner girls too. Strapless might be a problem with a larger chest, but you could always add some straps? Even better if the curvier girl is your MOH, their dresses quite often have a little something different in honour of their status.

Darker shades will look more flattering too.

Ultimately, you need to be happy with the dresses you pick for your bridal party, but you also want them to look their best and not feel self concious. Good luck!

ETA - I would go with dress # 2, would be the most flattering on all sizes. If it were me, I would pick this one, could always add some dainty straps for larger busts!

Hmm,, while I think all of them are pretty, I''d stay away from #3 as well as the very last one you posted (the one on the model). As someone who is plus size, I was trying to imagine myself in all of them and I definitely wouldn''t think these would be the most flattering.

Thanks so much for all of the opinions! I greatly appreciate it :)

Here are a few things - my plus size BM says that strapless is her favorite style (she finds it most flattering on herself), so I want to have a strapless option. I really like the idea of letting them choose a style within the same fabric/color. I think the color I will do is the same dark pink as the Alvina Valenta one posted above (the one with the bubble hem) - I'll attach here...

Actually, in the other pics of it, it doesn't look quite as mermaidy - do you guys still think it would be not good for my larger BM?

Next question - are there any other Satin Alvina Valenta or Lazaro ones that you guys have come across that you think is flattering for larger girls? Anything on their site?

(I know someone mentioned Satin wasn't great on larger girls, but do you think in that darker pink color its ok??) Any examples that are non satin that you think would be good?

ETA - forgot to say, what if, for example, I did the pink one with the bubble hem and some other one (maybe the v neck if she liked that) - that way the girls could choose between two?

Ok I think this one would be really flattering on almost any body shape, I just don't like the taffeta stuff on the bottom, but I'm guessing that would be easy to get rid of. Link

I think this one is pretty as well, and as a large busted woman, would feel ok wearing it. I don't like the underlayer thing though, but it's better than the first one. Link

This one is cute, I really dig the a-line and it flatters most shapes. Link

This is the option one right? Link

I think that giving the girls options is a great idea. I'm going to be in a wedding in 2009 and the bride has said that she just wants the dresses to be black, and other than that she doesn't care what they look like. I'm going to force a length and fabric out of her though. Heh.

Which one did skinny BM like the most?

oooh, those are great options! I like the basic black strapless (maybe we could get it lengthened and take away the tulle at the bottom). I love that blue one, too with the cute little bow at the bust! Thank you so much for finding these!

I''m emailing all of these options to my BM to see which one would make her feel most comfortable (she''s currently out of town) but maybe she can find a store near her that carries these lines. I like these new editions from Freke!

Oh and the skinny BM likes the green v-neck one the best (but she says she loves the pink bubble one too...we just havent seen it in person)

Thanks again :)

I''m glad you liked them! I kind of feel like it''s something I should do, because I''ll have to look for my own soon enough.

We are totally on the same page with that black one. That''s exactly what I was thinking on that one. I hope she likes at least one of them!
