Yellow diamond dilemma

I love fluorescence normally, but I had a yellow diamond with fluorescence before and really does take away from the color. If you are someone who likes admiring stones outdoors it may be a problem. It mutes the yellow and produces more grayish tones. So I would caution against it- although the Oval looks the best IMO.

Hi everyone. Appreciate all your comments and I hope you can be a little more patient with me, I found another 2 ct. fancy yellow cushion shape and I haven’t seen it in real life but it looks nice in pictures
It’s a great deal compared to all the others I found
Would appreciate your feedback 7439AAB0-448B-4102-A957-A6FE381E6147.jpegBD632C77-D6F5-4A47-9CE5-22BBF28F38FB.jpeg6B3E0303-99D9-4001-B9B2-54E2DA4B94D4.jpeg415BA132-300B-4C57-AE2C-E1302BC9BC6B.jpeg

@nouwwa ...are the people offering you these diamonds explaining that in a Fancy Yellow, Medium or strong blue fluorescence makes the stone much harder to sell?....
There are sometimes issues with Med or Strong blue yellow diamonds....
This results in a much lower price as compared to inert Fancy Yellow Diamonds.

Blue + yellow makes green. Same happens with diamonds. It might end up a lemon/lime color, or possibly some unknown color green. You’d really need to see these stones with the fluorescence activated to know whether you like the effect or not..

Agree with above post that you need to see how the blue flour looks on those stones in various lighting the fluor is activated.

For fancy color diamonds, the color is obviously the most important thing. I'd by careful with anything that messes with color like blue fluor in a fancy yellow. Default position would be avoid unless no alternatives. So I would ask your jeweler for similar stones if you like everything else about it, but with no blue fluor (yellow fluor is fine). If no suitable alternatives, make sure you have seen the medium blue fluor activated in various lighting before deciding. Last thing you want is spend a fair chunk of money on a large fancy color diamond and be disappointed with the color in some lighting - not worth the risk if you can find better alternatives.

Love the cut of the oval!

Hi everyone

thanks for all your previous replies
I have taken note of the fluorescence issue and kept looking
Now I have been offered a new diamond with faint fluorescence - GIA report attached
I’m looking for a diamond around 6.5mm or more as I want it to show and I think this is close, but my concern is the black crystal near the center. The seller says it’s VS2 so it will be eye clean.
Price wise it’s costing me around 6000USD, but I will have to pay customs etc 10% , so total 6600, not sure if it’s a good deal
Would appreciate your feedback
Thanks in advance

Hi everyone,
I know I have asked about different diamond options but I really hope someone can advice regarding the latest one I posted
I really appreciate you inputs and insights

thanks in advance

I may be too late but be wary of photos where the "white" pad looks yellow.

I "fixed" this one for you -- see top photo vs bottom photo. (Still will not protect you from intentional or in-the-phone enhanced saturation.)

Thanks for your efforts, Its impressive to know how you can spot that the colors have been enhanced

what about the 1.7 ct vs1 I posted above? Any feedback about that please?

thanks in advance

Except in the most extreme cases, I can not tell by looking at the stone. But I can tell by looking at the background. That is the most unsophisticated type of unreliable image -- and may even occur by accident.

For the others where it's just a stone and a neutral background, I can't say much. For the one just upthread in your 10/17/21 post, the third photo looks color-balanced whereas photos 1 and 2 are very yellow. Just because the color temperature is accurate, though, does not mean that the saturation or yellow channel has not been boosted.

You need a vendor you trust and a good return policy. And a healthy dose of skepticism. If it does not look as good in your hands as it does in the vendor photos (meaning it is disappointing), then keep looking.

Great work!!!!!
I've been disappointed lately with the amount of "screwing" I see in vendor pics- it's happening at the wholesale level too.......as the internet becomes more and more prominent in diamonds, I guess it's to be expected- but it's disappointing.

Hi
I still haven’t purchased anything
Looking around for the best I can afford

have now received this new option
The seller says it’s 9/10 on fancy yellow scale
5550 USD
would appreciate your feedback
The picture of 2 together (the small one is an intense yellow and the larger one is the one I’m interested in)
