Your Latest Jewelry Purchases/Things You're Considering....

Awww thank you!! These were my favourite finds as well!

Glad to influence!! :P this guide from @Pomelo was really helpful for me when shopping around Osaka and Tokyo https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/japan-resale-shops.284639/

Personally, my favourite finds were from Vintage QOO Tokyo https://www.qoo-online.com/item/index.php?keyword=18k&st=&b=&cid=&c=&price_min=&price_max=&stock= which has branches in Osaka and Tokyo

Komehyo Shinjuku was a dream, there were such a huge selection of items, and I nearly went home with a reversible sapphire-diamond ring - still thinking about it!

GALA JEWELRY Okachimachi had a beautiful selection as well, and I really enjoyed shopping there https://alag-in.jp/p/search?sort=priority

Ueno area for walking around random jewelry shops, the pearl ring was from a shop called FIRST IMPRESSION that had friendly staff and a nice selection of loose gems and jewelry

OKURA and Watchnian in general has some nice jewelry finds as well - can’t remember which branches I’ve went to, but I liked the ones in Osaka!

Here are the things that didn’t go home with me… I think about them sometimes

Oh my goodness, that is all such eye candy! Thanks for sharing your recommendations! I'm seriously taking notes!

I am considering these star sapphires.
What do you think of them? I would appreciate your comments and advice. I haven’t seen them in person yet; the photos are from one of my jewellers at the Hong Kong Gem and Jewelry show.
@Starstruck_88 Please share your thoughts! Thank you.

The star of the second stone is not that well-defined, and the colour does not pop at me.

Definitely prefer the first ring and stone.

DK :))

Definitely reject the second. The star goes the 'wrong' way - one ray almost horizontal, and not quite aligned even then. The body colour is uneven - grey with a patch of blue/purple.

The first is possible. It has attractive translucent glowy body colour. (I take it because you say star sapphire that you are looking for pink rather than red - you could certainly get redder, at a price.) The star looks sharp, but the picture is not sharp enough to tell how sharp the star really is and whether it has 'depth'. If you want to be critical, note that the top ray and lower left ray look a bit wonky.

I may be out of line to a say this. but your collection suggests that you have high standards and the budget to support them. IMO this stone is better than good, but not top. This may or may not matter to you for this purchase.

I think it’s worth seeing a video of the first one @Crimson . Have you seen star sapphires in person before?

For some reason I'm kind of wanting a simple snake ring somewhat like this. I have plenty of small unset OEC's so will probably do it.

In the works: DIAMOND VIDEO.
DK has already done 4 CAD iterations for me so I’m hoping that the 5th one is gonna be the charm. Halo is finalized, but still working on the profile and how high off the finger I want the diamond to be.

Diamond: 3.65 M VS1 elongated antique oval

Thank you @dk168. Agree it doesn’t pop . Hope you enjoyed the musical!

Thank you Yes, I agree it is best to see it in motion..
I shall see my jeweller this week so I can inspect the pink one further.

Thank you very much, @Starstruck8 for your frank opinion. I have a small sharp double star ruby so this time I really wanted a pink star stone.
Based on your advice and that of @dk168 will reject the blue-grey star.
I am grateful for your observations about the pink store. I do find that the lines are not all equally strong. I will look at the pink ring this week so I shall keep your comments in mind. I take your point about waiting for a better stone - very wise, thank you.

I have observed that the stars look very different in pictures/video that real life. Binocular vision really changes how they look compared to viewing through a single lens. For example, my star appears to have a broken leg in pictures and in person it looks perfectly straight. There is also a depth to the asterism that you see in real life that isn’t in pictures. So I would hesitate to reject a stone based only on video for star quality issues if it had other characteristics you liked, such as color and transparency. Ideally the vendor can help you assess before making the call to see it in person.

Welcome back, @Spring Day, It’s been a while! Your ring is going to be epic! That moval is insane

What are the larger side stones? Were you able to find small matching movals? :-o

It's a beautiful stone. Looking forward to the final photos.

Thank you! It's good to be back!

I wish! The larger ovals are brilliants. I was waffling with the idea of trying to find matching movals or ovals but then I would also need to find perfectly matching OECs and that was gonna be a doozy. And the thought of having a combo of antique ovals with brilliants or OECs with oval brilliants in the halo drove me bonkers. :errrr::lol-2: So I opted to go with all brilliants for the halo since the outer edges of my moval are a little splintery so I thought it would transition well.

Thank you, @Dreamer_D . I will be seeing both stones and others tomorrow. There is a new big blue one which has eight legs — I am SO excited.

I have been wanting an emerald solitaire (my birthstone) & I found myself drawn to cabs. Like green galaxies captured in a smooth jelly bean. I ran across this one and instantly knew I needed it! I call her "Mae".

I’ve had this antique wedding ring on my Watch Lost for over a year. It was a little on the pricey side, but in my size with a crisp pattern & engraved inside “A to D, 3rd October 1917”.

I have kept coming back to it for AGES & nothing else plucked my heart as much, so I finally reached out to negotiate the price down a bit. It’s 22ct & platinum. It should be here from the US late next week.

We obviously have similar jewellery taste :kiss2:

The things in her shop are beautiful. I still want an antique eternity to pair with this. These will be for my RH as my left is full :lol-2:

Thank you! It’s stunning! I’m worried it maybe a smidge too tight, as I’m a K.5 but with age, even those are getting tight. I am going to London in a couple of weeks, so might book in to see it whilst I’m there & keep you posted :kiss2:

I messaged them a few days ago to verify the size and it’s actually a 5.5, if that helps! You should definitely go look at it!

Crikey! Will be on my way forthwith! (Though not for 2 weeks, as I’m a way from London in the North of England & need to plan around school holidays :lol-2: )

This is so beautiful! I have started looking for a similar style, with gold and platinum and inside engraving, somewhere in the 6-7 size range. So gorgeous, I can understand why you succombed......

It’s so hard to find all the right criteria! But I stuck with the size & the crisp petal engraving. The date etching is a bonus but in its own right is just beautiful.

Joining my setting queue is this blue green Tourmaline cut by Jeff White, and I have found the inspiration setting for this gem.

Not eye clean even with my eyes, however, the colour made up for it as it popped at me when he showed me a photo of the rough.

His video of the finished gem:

Ring inspiration, almost certain to be this one with an added air line/gap (no surprise there as I love air line/gap halos):

Oh, I love both of them, but I think I favored the second one! I just love those baguettes

Oh this is really pretty! I love the first one with the floating halo gap for a pointer finger ring!
