I love your new pink lady!

And her gorgeous entourage.

OMG, what a superb Spinel to add in your stunning collections! Congrats cellentani

Your mahenge is beautiful. I really like the color of the Jackson Crossroads amethyst - it seems very unique for an amethyst. Thanks for all of the great photos

Just beautiful!

I love your new spinel! The colour is breathtaking! DO you plan on setting it?

So many lovely stones! I love how red the rubellite looks, the intensity of the Mahenge, the JXR amethyst...and the list goes on.

Cellentani,
I''m the same way with some stones!! That''s how you know you love them!! I''m enjoying your pictures so much. You are a great gem photographer, and the pink on the spinel really pops!! BTW, is your new rubellite more of a reddish color, or more pink?
TL, the rubellite actually changes/shifts color just a bit, depending on the light. It''s most red in incandescent light, sort of a purple-red-magenta color, and is a purple-red-pink in fluourescent light. They both look very rich, and I have yet to see a bad color in this one!

Well, TWO days of sun in a row means more photos...

Here''s a UV pic from Gary. He said that it has medium red fluourescence in UV light, and flouresces a bit more with a purple beam.

Sometimes it's a little more purple-pink.

I''d love to set this, and I''m thinking about a simple but elegant setting with traps. But here''s the thing - anything that doesn''t involve a halo is is very uncharted territory for me, and I''m wondering if I''ll even like this kind of design on my chubby little finger. So my mission tomorrow (while the kids are back in school - yea!) is to hit some local jewelry stores to find similar settings. I guess I''m thinking white gold and thin prongs, but if you have any other ideas or inspiration pics, throw ''em at me!

White gold, thin prongs and traps sounds absolutely beautiful AND will definitely suit chubby fingers (speaking as an owner of sausage fingers!).

BTW I adore the fire shot above - how cool is that!!!

fantastic colour in this dim natural light

what kind of inclusion is that?
is that a finger print inclusion?>
I admit I don''t know my inclusions very well, so I asked Gary. He called that one a feather inclusion, for what it''s worth.

Your photography is indeed superb. Mochi had better watch out.

I second/third a 3 stone setting with the Mahenge set north/south with traps.

Sigh..... what a beautiful stone!!

Your collection is beautiful, but this one is a stunner!!

Since you asked for suggestions...

I''d try to play up it''s vibrant, lively, "let''s get the party started" side and set it with either some trillion sides, or go for tapered baguettes that would look like sun rays while also serving as a transition point between the stone and the shank. But that''s just me, do the thing that''ll make you happy

Thank you Mr. ma re, that sounds beautiful. I half-expected to hear a 2-tone suggestion from you though - yellow gold prongs, white gold shank....

Well if it were a rhodolite...and if you''d really insist on setting it in white gold...
9.gif
Honestly, two-tone vibe didn''t get me with this one, but I doubt it could hurt the stone (heck, I doubt anything could hurt this one
2.gif
).

This morning, I took my spinel to the jewelers to try on settings, specifically, anything with side traps. I found two that didn''t quite fit - they both have halos (and for once I''m leaning towards no halo
6.gif
), but they at least offer a visual as to how it might look. I''ll just post them both, and let me know what you think.

Setting #1 - only about a millimeter too small, with brilliant side traps
