Are you worried about the Coronavirus?

I did my grocery shopping on line like normal- i buy 2 weeks at a time
We can't really afford to stock up much more that that with me not working but not a single thing i usually buy was out of stock
We normally get an afternoon delivery but the avilable slots were all for this evening which has happened before
There was the question on the deliver instructions asking to reply if anyone was sick

im more concerned about catching germs when we visit the hospital on Thursday for Gary's appointments with the eye and the respitory clinic but i always use the santizer gel they have all over the place

Now I know where to go if I needed supplies.. Crazy Chinese people are stocking up on rice. A few Asian stores in town are out of rice. Chinese people are scare of each other. I just came back from lunch. The chinese restaurant business are very slow all over town. I heard that SF and NYC chinatown are dead.

You are very welcome @Dancing Fire..
That‘s a shame they are losing business over this..:(xxoo

You all make me feel woefully under-prepared. I figured I had enough stuff in my house already to stay put if we were told to stay in place. I am worried about my daughter's fiancé. He has legal obligations to be in certain places at certain times. But he sleeps here. I don't want him going out and getting exposed to Coronavirus and bringing it back.

That’s what I’m worried about with my husband @AGBF..I also think my children will want to come when I’m in Maryland after they are out and about...They are a low risk..I’m sure they will think I’m overreacting..I feel like we are in a nightmare..

The canned soup I buy in bulk has doubled in price, and my favorite brand of freeze-dried food is completely sold out on their company website. Crazy!

I took a quick inventory of the frozen steaks & roasts I have, and concluded that I'm in real danger of gout if I can't get fresh groceries.

That's actually pretty disgusting about the blatant profiteering
Maybe governments need to implement a temporary price freeze for a few months to prevent this happening

Yep, especially hand sanitizer and isopropyl alcohol.

I’m about half-way in distance right between the two cases in Florida. My partner doesn’t think things will be bad for us, but I disagree. I just returned from a cross-country drive and would like nothing more then to self-isolate, but not without significant supplies laid in, and he is dragging his feet. It’s frustrating.

My instinct is to take the cats to the vet for their annual visit even though they are current on everything. I’ve put plans in place to rehome them if anything happens to me. Not to sound maudlin, but the last time I got pneumonia it was pretty scary. Being on the rounder-side physique-wise, I tend to worry about health despite no injuries, no addictions, no diseases, no medications. I still worry.

My job is support for large-scale event management (like, between 30 and 50 thousand attendees). As a contractor, I can just make myself unavailable for programs and lose the gigs. Not sure if other people in my field are considering laying low, but I’m afraid if I don’t take the jobs, I’ll be passed over in the future. More worry.

The only thing I can think to do is.... laundry.

I guess it's times like these that I'm glad my parents have a large vegetable garden in their backyard, and that we live in California where it's warm most of the year. We're not that panicked and haven't stocked up on that much, although we did buy a 50 lb bag of rice, and salmon on sale for $5.99/lb this weekend.

For the first time EVER, I am ok with the fact that we have an entire deer in the freezer!:lol:

LOL, same here! My husband also spent the entire summer fishing. The freezer is fully of halibut, salmon, and rockfish as well! There’s no room for tater tots and pizza!

I feel the same but with a husband that will not isolate should it get bad in our area. He actually travels between Pa..Delaware..and New Jersey. He flies to California, Texas, Louisiana and Ohio often. He said he will minimize the air travel..I think if it starts in those states I will seriously think about going to Maryland with my son, mom and dog. I know it’s in California but he hasn’t t been there for a few weeks. I’m doing laundry too..lol
@Gussie You said you would go to your cabin..Would your husband go too? At what point would you decide to go?

We will go if schools close. Until then I think it's relatively safe. Spring break is next week so we will go there anyway. Maybe we will just stay! Idk if DH will go. He has it set up that he can work from there so I would encourage him to. His workplace is not a positive place though so that always factors in. He is in a HFT firm so when the markets are going crazy is when they are busiest.

Can you get dried beans and dried peas?

That’s great that your DH can work from there. I have to see if my son’s sheltered workshop closes. If I take him out before that it could be difficult. I’ll
just have to play it by ear. My hubby will stay behind..:wall:
Would you bring the deer from your freezer?

Did you guys know that flu type C is not in the shot? Do you know where I am right now? I hate ppl.... apparently just got it in the last day or so. Soooooo I'll be on antivials this week . i feel fine just feel like a truck is sitting on my chest mostly, and coughing.

Curious if you were tested for covid-19. Edited to add: Sorry you're sick and I hope your symptoms are bearable.

@Arcadian I didn’t know it wasn’t in the shot..I think @whitewave also got a different strain of flu. I hope you feel better soon..

Oh no! Feel better soon!

I'm glad we have a pantry full of stuff. It may get weird as I have to use whatever we have (and I haven't been keeping track ) since it has gotten hard to find things. Stores are still crazy busy and sold out of many things. I'm hearing about people climbing shelves at Costco and grabbing stuff out of other people's carts! I would rather not go anywhere crowded right now, aside from being sick.

Safeway delivery is unavailable right now. Either booked solid or just sold out of too much. Whole Foods delivery set for Wednesday but not sure how much in my order will be available. Amazon Fresh is slim pickings. I'm working on an order now and will see what shows up from it. Amazon Prime is sold out of most soups, sauces, etc so not much help. I have a produce (now meat, pantry, etc too) delivery Thursday that should help too.

So... It may turn into nothing much, but take inventory and stock up while you can!

So sorry to hear that, feel better soon!!!!!

Pneumonia is scary all right
Sometimes a few extra pounds is ok if the rest of you is healthy
when my other half had pneumonia he lost more than 2 stone
If he had been older and skinny like his dad there would have been nothing left

Might sound crazy but I’d rather get it now than later on when supply of medication is low and medical resources stretched! That’s assuming of course that one exposure provides immunity going forward, though I did read that someone got reinfected? Oh joy, the gift that just keeps giving.
I say this because I remember my mother taking us over to our cousins who had chicken pox. She figured better to get the 3 of us over and done with together.
