Are you worried about the Coronavirus?

I bought my TO. It was slim pickings. Good thing I am not sensitive
Coronavirus is now in my county, just north of NYC. :(

Westchester? I know it is in New Rochelle. What is a TO?

I went to Walmart and Aldi today. I was very curious as to what I'd see after hearing some on this thread with empty store shelves! Both stores were fully stocked as far as I could see (plenty of TP, and yes, I bought another 18 roll pack in honor of this thread in case we need to share, even though I bought one last week), and the only thing that was sold out was the section with Chlorox wipes!!! I did think right then that smarter people than me were already likely buying stock in companies like that! I am sure we could survive for weeks with what's in the pantry and freezer, but if things start looking worse, I'll buy more of certain things.

It's in my county now (Houston suburb). Presumptive case - treating it as positive. 70 year old man who recently traveled abroad, hospitalized and stable.

We just got the toilet seat that plugs in and it's the best! Was around $200 at Costco. Heated, different settings, game changer! I think it's bio bidet.

Ooooh...Fun! lol

Sounds like your counselor needs to take a step back. You are acting totally normal.

Oh my! Long day. Should’ve said TP / Toilet Paper.
Yes, Westchester....

You are in Houston? I am north of Atown, we will have to schedule a meetup of Texans eventually :)

I would love that! If you ever come to Htown, we can go to whiteflash which is only 10-15 minutes from my house!

Whiteflash is also in my county. Ugh, I wish they would let us know where the man who tested positive is from specifically. The county is huge!

People who are discriminating make me go yuck. It's disgusting how much discrimination there is against people who look Asian on public transit.

It is sickening! Our county is the most diverse county in the US, roughly even percentages of white, Latino, black, and Asian. My daughter is so upset that kids at school are being mean to some of the Asian kids. It's horrible!

@Gussie, Keep checking Daily Mail. I know it sounds crazy but when Coronavirus hit Illinois they kept saying Chicago was where the virus was. It was not in the city. The patient was in a suburban hospital.. Daily Mail reported the suburb and the hospital at least a full day before our newspapers and news stations reported it. I just checked DM and didn’t see anything being reported in your area yet.

I'm kind of pissed off with Italy's response. They had one of the biggest outbreaks, dating back to Feb 21. They JUST closed their schools today, after 100+ deaths, and 3000+ infected. They JUST banned large gatherings (ie football games). They still haven't been able to identify a patient zero. Not setting a good example right now.

Uh, in Asia, we rarely use toilet paper and wash instead so the lack of TP isn't an issue in our household. That's all I'm explaining here.

Someone suggested if we run out of toilet paper just get in the shower. I live in Australia, most people don't have toilets that wash you and getting in the shower to solve the problem, is not an ideal solution, because we live in a country that is severely drought impacted. The reason the bushfires here were so bad and so intense is it hasn't rained in those areas for ages and there was no water in some places to put the fires out....

I'm lucky where I live there was flooding recently the water restrictions we had were down graded, but some places have little to no water, and where I live water costs a small fortune if you use a lot of it.... so if we had to wash instead of nothing I would, but water in not an infinite resource here either...

Well I will report back on the TP situation in Connecticut because we are on our last roll!

Employers are starting to encourage/require people to work from home. Microsoft was one of the companies to send that announcement out today. We now have two confirmed cases in high school students (different schools) plus a parent volunteer at an elementary school.

King County Executive (Dow Constantine) has urged employers to allow as many to work from home as able, asked all people to avoid holding gatherings of 10+ people, and strongly suggests anyone at high risk (60+, sick, immune compromised, pregnant) stay home.

The federal government is investigating the care facility so (hopefully) that will improve quickly. I hope there aren't a lot of sick people due to the neglect!

Plenty of TP in stores here, but still no hand sanitizer! I called literally 11 stores, and no such luck. One store said they got a shipment in today and people were already waiting in line for it; gone within minutes. I have plenty of soap at least. I hope the people who are hoarding sanitizer know that it should not take the place of a proper washing!

There is plenty everywhere in southwestern Connecticut. I have not bought any at all since the Coronavirus hit, and I have been stocking up on other things. A Stop and Shop in Norwalk even put cans of Lysol in a small display in the front of the store so that people could see them. The area which sold disinfectant wipes was rather depleted, but there were still some there. (Not wipes for one's hands, but wipes for surfaces.)

One can't find hand sanitizer or anti-baterial soap .Bottled water is available.

Y'all got me so nervous so I sent DH to get this. He said there was plenty but no hand sanitizer.

We just got a video from the superintendent of the school district. He said that since we have lots of families who travel internationally during spring break (next week), all absences after spring break will be excused in terms of final exemptions. People here do not trust the schools to make the right decision about school closures since the money they get from the state is dependent on attendance. DH says to pull the kids out tomorrow and Friday and see what happens next week. I wasn't very nervous until now. It's getting real. What would you do?

So one of the “good” things about covid19 seems to be that it’s relatively child sparing. To the relief of many of my coworkers who have young kids they worried about.

Well remember that Covid-19 is flu like. Speaking of, today I had to lay low because it hit me like a ton of bricks (I feel better though I did have a might high temp at 101, down to 99 now) So could not really hold my head up and laid in bed good deal of the day. I feel better now except the headache is a PITA....

But hmm... yeah tp comes in handy. Right now I'm drinking a lot. I need LOTS of TP...for both of them

70% alcohol in a small spray bottle that you can put in your purse? priceless. I have lots of them so they come in handy https://www.amazon.com/Fantasea-Fine-Spray-Bottle-Ounce/dp/B000NIY7QM

Today I gathered all the medical/health/comfort supplies into one central place (totally filled a bookshelf near the kitchen) so that when my partner and I inevitably get sick (hopefully mild), there’s no shuffling through various closets and cupboards for stuff. Mental processing will be challenging enough without the search for medications, right? And to be frank, if I’m sick my temper will be short. Why do DH’s sometimes whine that they can’t find something when it’s right in front of them (refrigerator door Sriracha bottles have a dedicated spot but they suddenly become invisible?!?). Sorry, I’m grumpy. And scared. So I digressed.

ETA, my point was just that I wanted to share that centralising supplies might be a helpful idea. (Or not, that’s ok too.) Wishing everyone safety and health and peace.

Someone remind me how we got hung up on toilet paper? :lol-2:

Just reading there is a presumptive case near me in NJ. Most of my friends are resigned to a belief that we will all get some form of this virus. I fear that this potential is becoming more and more likely as each day unfolds. I'm most worried about my Mom, who is over 80 and lives on her own. I keep trying to allay my teens' fears. They are seniors and of course are concerned about impact to Prom and finals, and of course their health and mine. Its a lot for kids to carry - any of us really.

I'm keepin' calm and carrying on. And, buying TP.
