I don't think he cared at all how much money was being offered to him by the Yankees. His wife got spit on by yankees fans when they were in NY for the ALCS.

The Yankees always put big offers on the table. There is nothing surprising there. I think everyone still hates the Yankees, considering baseball players don't want to play for the team and that doesn't include Lee, either
