Bored senseless... let's chat about upcoming projects.

I purchased this Meralani Mint Garnet that’s just under 7mm from Gene a few months back.

It usually takes me forever to decide on a stone setting, but when I saw this emerald ring on The RealReal, I knew it was the design I wanted for the mint garnet. My ring will be in white gold and I’m having it made with a split shank.

That is my ideal shade of mint garnet, @2Neezers! A bit more saturated than most and with a touch of blue. I'm not as fond of the paler celadon tones. Anyway!! Gorgeous stone and I absolutely love what you're doing with it. I also prefer white metal with mint (and like rose gold too). But I'm not crazy about yellow gold with this shade. Though I do love yellow with traditional tsavs! Looking forward to this project!!

I’m almost certain that I am going to set these spinels in roughly this configuration for a stud dangle earring pair (for the melees). Still debating the overal design though (where the stud part should be).image.jpg

So hot pink and gray? LOVE.

Thanks @Autumn in New England ! I must have been have popped on to Gene’s page at just the right moment to be first in line for the garnet. It feels like winning the lottery when that happens! :D
I think rose gold would look great too, but unfortunately it doesn’t work with my skin tone. I’m certain I have stones that would look better in yellow gold or rose gold than they do in white gold or platinum, but for some reason white metals are all I like to wear.

I don't know if this even counts as an upcoming project because I have no concrete plans to do this in the near future (am on ban island) but I would love to recreate this pendant with a jeweler like Yvonne Raley.

It's a le vian pendant and it's priced at $1800. I would make something similar but with nicer stones but no diamonds and no rose gold. (Or if this got significantly discounted I'd buy it.)

It's just so HAPPY!

Yes of course I will, heehee! This pendant also has a matching ring and earrings btw. All on Ross Simons. Getting all of them is out of the question, but gosh I wish I could recreate that pendant. It would be so much fun mixing and matching it with all my studs/earrings etc.

Dooo ittttt! :P2

My flower ring spinel project is finally complete and hopefully will arrive in the mail tomorrow. Here’s a preview. The stone is much lighter and prettier in person.

I love this! I really, reallllly want a sculptural floral ring. I plan on asking @nutellakitty for one of her beautiful designs eventually. Currently broke though... booooo.

Replacing the pearl with a crown for a faceted stone can really transform the ring without going custom. Here’s another one I looked at. It’s 5 grams and free returns!

You're aptitude for this is remarkable.

This arrived today and it’s so much better than I expected. The spinel is a nice pastel lilac color and sparkles like a diamond. I had it recut from a larger cushion into an OEC just for fun and didn’t think it wowed me but now that it’s in this setting I love it.

I tend to only like solitaire type settings like this one if the stone is super sparkly and it worked out really well for this combo.

what mm size is your spinel? I have a little pink sapphire oec that I just can't decide how to set so just looking for size perspective. Your stone turned out great!

I'm going to set a couple of star rubies in a ring and a matching pendant.

Love that. The spinel is beautiful! Who did you get to recut it for you ??
Oh and I am so glad you mentioned that a pearl can be removed & stone can be placed. Another item to include in all my "window" shopping on line :)

It’s 6mm and under a carat. The added flower around it gives me nice finger coverage and I’m a size 6. How big is your stone?

Mine is exactly 6mm, OEC cut, my ring size is typically 5 but I usually do 5.5 to account for swelling or stacking

I purchased a stone from an Etsy shop and ended up asking if he could recut a stone of mine and he’s now done two for me. I think if I did it again I would prefer a higher crown and smaller table but then the stone would end up smaller. You need the depth. His prices are very reasonable. He’s in Washington state.

Finally sent out my sapphire for setting last week!

the setting I have in mind:

Probably doesn't count as a project but I'm having this brooch made by Gary Roe, with perhaps green or pink tourmaline briolettes instead of rhodolite.

Love the sapphire! I have an unset pear silky green sapphires too, but mine is earthier. I don't have a good setting idea for it yet, love yours! Can't wait to see it when done.
