Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

I had an anteriour placenta with my first pregnancy and did not feel anything until quite late. But this time the placenta is at the top of my uterus leaving the whole front area with nothing blocking! The movements I felt were more like little kicks than fluttering, but they really felt familiar.

Maybe you have a little mover on your hands!

Lanie, thanks and it's so inspiring to hear you talk about motherhood, it makes me more excited even though I am terrified and nervous about birtha nd babycaring!

Its funny because Hunter was very active in the womb. Every time we had a scan he was hopping around and I could not feel it. The placenta really does block a lot of sensation. I am glad this time it is positioned differently.

40+1, nothing new here, except we are expecting another BIG snowstorm starting tonight. 10-16 inches. Have I mentioned that I love the snow!?! On the news, they said the snow may come down at 2 inches per hour, making it too much for the snow plows to keep up with, and rendering some roads impassable!!! How great would that be? I think it will probably be a few more days, so it likely won't be an issue!

****************

Dreamer, Went back and re-read your birth story. You waited a long time for that epi!!!!!!!!!!!! As much as I want a natural birth, when it comes to pitocin, I think it's a whole different ball game. I'd probably request an epi right away!! Oh and very cool that you can feel your little one already! ::)

Catluver, You look great!! Nice to see you posting again! Have you been working super-long hours still? I think that was you, right? I have to say that not going into work right now is the best thing ever!

Deelight, Hope you're staying safe and DRY!!!

Tiffany, Congrats on 29 weeks!!

Skippy, Can't wait to hear your news!!! :appl: :appl:

Lady, you are crazy! I can't believe how calm you are about being overdue with a giant snow storm. I think you should give the rest of us lessons on being zen!! :)

Meh, if it goes that way for you see how you feel. It was not so bad as long as I was sitting up on my bouncy ball, I could manage it fine. It was only when they made my lie down and then finally told me I could not sit on my ball anymore that it was unmanageable. If you progress quickly with the induction it is doable. Myu issue was not progressing at all after 6 hours, combined with no longer being allowed to be on my bouncy call -- well that was game over for me and I got the epi. I was glad I did but still want a natural labour this time. I have a friend who had an anduction with her first and it only took about 4-6 hours total, and she went natural. With her second she was totally natural, no induction. She said the induction was easier to manage than the natural labour because she could turn down the drugs when it was too much. Anyways, every woman and every labour is different, so see how you feel if it comes to that. I still think you will go into labour this week on your own ::)

Well, I just heard that one of my colleagues from a previous job has had her first baby. Now here's something that pregnant people might want to know- it happened on her due date, took 39 minutes from start to finish, and she reports feeling no pain worse than severe menstrual cramps. She was home six hours later. She had a boy, 7lbs 9oz.

This makes me think of having another...

My placenta is sort of high too, and I can definitely feel every movement. He has been jumping around all day today, and yesterday! It's so cute, but sometimes it catches me off guard, especially if i'm teaching a lesson or in front of people and it makes me pause for a second!

Deelight - I am in Sydney - we've had a fair bit of rain but no flooding issues for us. I just can't believe what i am seeing on the news in Queensland - it is just heartbreaking. I hope you and your nearest and dearest stay safe.

Miscka - I hope you got a good outcome on the GD testing.

Catluver - I think you look great. I know it is easier said than done, but try not to worry about the weight gain - your body really is doing what it needs to do and I'm sure you will bounce back in no time!

Skippy - Looking forward to hearing your news!

LV - Have been thinking of you. I keep expecting to see an announcement every time I pop in here! Hope you get to enjoy the snow and it doesn't interfere with the LO's arrival!

I am just waiting for my appointment on Friday to see if bub has moved out of breech position. I'm getting very impatient and really just want to know now so we can prepare. Otherwise, I'm still feeling pretty good and will hopefully finish work this week so the nesting can begin!

Hope all the other preggo ladies are doing well.

Pandora, I'm really hoping I'm like you and that it's a lot of water and drops off quickly, but I won't get my hopes up knowing how poorly I've been eating compared to before. I always ate a lot, but the pregnancy has made me love sweets when I normally don't care much for them. I'm nervous because I'm off the charts above the maximum recommended gain and still have 6 weeks left. That is amazing that you were back to prepreggo weight at 5 weeks PP. How much did you lose immediately (or a few days) after giving birth (baby, blood, placenta and water)?

- baby - 8lbs 3oz
- blood - 2.5 litres which is 5.8lbs
- placenta - approx. 2lbs
- amniotic fluid - approx. 2lbs

Total: 17lbs 11oz

Total weight-gain - 75lbs so had just over 57lbs to lose.

I lost 45lbs total at the end of the first week so if you take the 17lbs 11oz off then I lost just over 27lbs of what must have been just water that week. My feet, ankles and legs took about 10 days to go down to normal size and my rings started to fit again a few months after the birth (although it was summer and my fingers always swell a bit in the heat).

Here in the UK they don't weigh you except at the first appointment and they are more interested in whether you look in proportion - which you do! No-one was the least bit worried about my enormous gain at all - I kept weighing myself as I just couldn't believe how many pounds I could stack on in the space of an afternoon... not even I could eat 3lbs of chocolate in one sitting!

Deelight - hope everything will be okay in Queensland, we've been following it on the news here, especially as my BIL has just accepted a job in Brisbane and he, my sister and their 3 kids (no.3 is due on Sunday) are moving there in March. He's a hydro-geologist so I guess he's moving to the right place! Just awful what is happening and hope you and your family are all safe.

When did you second timers start feeling the baby move?

I swear the last couple days I have felt it a couple times, and I am only 13.5 weeks.

I felt Grace for sure during the 15th week. She was more of a squirmer than a kicker; James was the opposite.

SKIPPY - CONGRATS on Team Blue X2!! I love having a little boy to spoil. Buy stock in Hot Wheels now ;))

LOL about stock in hot wheels! Hubby went looking for his old legos! I have a feeling these kids will have lots of hot wheels and tons of lego :)) Thanks Diva; your son is adorable and same w/your new precious baby girl!! congrats momma!

TURTLEDAZZLE, hi friend; so good to see you!!! thank you! How are you momma; congrats on your little one! He is adorable!
ZOE, thank you sweetheart!!! I hope to see some snow pics! hehe ;))

Thanks LV, Geri, Pandora and Skippy where I live is a low risk area however where I work about 15-20 minutes is flooded and is closed for the next couple of days at this stage - mind you I had a great view from my desk however would not want to be there at this stage I am off for the rest of the week.

Not sure if you would call it irony it is weird looking out my window today seeing a dry and sunny day knowing that within short driving distance one way is flooded and 30-40 minutes the other way is also flooded (it is where I grew up) and just under 2hrs away had an inland tsunami - not good.

I have to say I am so proud of QLD'ers so much help from people all around and people are being smart for the most part and staying safe - still so many tragic stories - any thoughts, prayers and dust I am sure will be appreciated by those affected.

Skippy I was right congrats sweetie :) how awesome to have twinkie boys - boys are heaps of fun and you will have twice as much :)

LV I hope that snowstorm does not hit - your so close *fingers crossed* that the snow stays manageable for you

Jennifer That is the best birth story ever - OMG that would be my ideal birth congrats to your friend :)

Geri I didn't think you were in QLD but was not 100% sure - Good luck for you appointment - sending dust your way for a turned baby :) and YAY for finishing work how awesome is that :)

Pandora Your BIL picked a good time to move - I could not imagine coming to QLD in summer from London while it will still be warm it should be less humid and more bearable - chances are they will still find it hot but better then summer - if they plan on buying a house that was in a flood affected area I would make sure to check for termites - from previous experience termites tend to come in especially when it has been hot after water logged areas.

We are all safe thankfully - never have I been happier in not being able to afford my dream home on the river

Hope you ladies are all well :)

Yay for team blue x's 2 Stephanie. Boys are sooo great. You know that from your lovely nephews. I am soooo happy for you.. xx

Skippy: Congrats on two boys! I am loving having my son even though I was scared at first with the idea of a boy...haha.

We had our elective u/s today.....it wasn't a huge success. We confirmed that she is still 100% a girl...so now I can go crazy shopping! The reason it wasn't a huge success is because she was folded completely in half at the waist, so her feet were up in front of her nose and eyes the entire time practically. She was adorable though when she was grabbing her feet and pulling them to her face. We have a few decent face shots, but not a whole lot. She looks a lot like Evan and the Tech kept commenting on her cheeks and her lips and how lovely they look (Full lips and getting some fat in the cheeks---just like Evan!)

I'll have to go through the pictures tomorrow and see if I can get any posted on here!

Hope the rest of you preggos are doing okay!

OHHHH! I also am now at 2 week DA (forgot who asked but DA is Doctor Appointments).....how on earth did that happen so quickly! I really thought it wasn't going to start until after my next appointment.....and my doctor told me to expect to have the baby in March...which I also kinda knew but to hear it from a doctor was just crazy also!

Skippy- Congrats!! Welcome to double team blue!! They are going to be so much fun!

congrats skippy!

congrats skippy!!! i love having my 2 mamas boys.

Skippy, welcome to team blue times 2! Your boys can be the best of friends with a built in playmate, what’s better than that?

Dee, glad everything is ok.

LV, you sound so amazingly calm. Go you! You have a good memory, I was working long hours in Dec but thankfully it has slowed down. I’m anxious about wrapping things up before I leave, what will happen to my work and what it will be like after my leave…but we’ll see.

Geri, good luck w/your appointment. How many weeks were you when you first found out baby was breech? If you do end up having a C - there are pros to that as well. For a few reasons I think I may end up getting a C, but I’m having my first “check” next week.

Pandora, thanks for the info. Wow, 27 lbs of water is a ton. I know you are tall but that still sounds like a lot. I don’t have crazy swelling so more of my weight is probably fat, not water.

Kunz, O is sooo cute, he doesn’t look like he was a preemie at all. He’s adorable!

Sneaks in

Skippy- I'm SO excited for you!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Runs away

Skippy - Congrats on double team blue!

Dee - Hope everything is still okay for you in Qld.

Catluver - We found out from an ultrasound at about 31 weeks after the LO had been head down at about 28 weeks. I think I have my head around having a c-section and, as you say, there are some pros to it. We would know when (this is a big plus for a control freak like me!) and, in our case, the suggested date would be good because all of my family would be in town for a family event so could meet the LO straight away. Although I wouldn't have elected to have a c-section without a medical reason (and that is not a judgement of anyone who does because I think it is a perfectly valid choice), I'm okay with it and since we've now had 6 weeks to prepare for the idea, I think I'll actually be a little anxious if I have to go back to waiting around for a natural birth. Guess we'll know in 24 hours!

Geri, the planned part is a definite plus, and also, no vagina blow-outs, painful labor or worrying about the baby being distressed during labor or the other unexpected things that can happen! Still, 6 weeks seems like plenty of time for the baby to turn - I didn't think they locked into position until wk 35-36 anyway? Good luck! We don't even get ultrasounds after 20 wks here unless there's a problem, so I think they just guess on position based on feel (which isn't always accurate as my coworker's doc thought the butt was the head, and she ended up needing a C after trying to push the baby out breech - ouch).

I only posted one. :)) It's on the thread that Deb began the other day (something like "It's our turn for snow" or something like that in Hangout). The pic doesn't look all that impressive but we have a ton of snow. About 15 inches or snow, with a couple more inches to go.
