Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Skippy- I am so happy for you. Two boys   !! Yippe X 2!
Geri- Its getting close you must be psyched!
Deelight-I have been reading about QLD in the news— so sad. Many prayers being sent. PS: hmmmm…comfy bras, I need some!
TAO-Yeah, for that 100% percent confirmation. Please post pics!
Kunz-Oliver is so.darn.cute.
LV-Come on baby, Samantha. We want to meet you!
HOU-OUCH on the membrane stripping. One day until your shower, how exciting.
RT- You are looking great. Lovely bump! About the comments, people can be really inappropriate. Ignore. Ignore. Ignore. It’s not worth the stress.
Bliss- I hope all is well with you!

AFM-
We had an elective 4d u/s yesterday. Much like Tao’s ultrasound our babe was playing with his/her feet the entire time. Our parents were there and they enjoyed seeing their future grandchild playing. At one time the babe was even chewing on his/her umbilical cord. I wonder if the babe is bored in there? The u/s tech took some measurements and the babe weights about 2lb 6 oz of wonderfulness. I can’t wait to meet my baby  .
My doctor said I am measuring right on target and even Ok’ed a couple of glasses of wine while on vacation.

As for the ultrasound pic…look at those lips! Just perfect (do I sound like a proud mom or what??!!)!!!

luvin -- what a sweet ultrasound! That's one precious baby!

LV -- what the hee haw?!? Tell that lady to get out! :appl: Seriously, savor these last days. I don't remember what it's like to have a giant belly, and I kind of miss it. But having a little bebe in my arms trumps that feeling a million times over. AAAAHHHH!!!! You are on the verge of the best day of your life!!!

HOU -- have fun at your shower tomorrow!!! Hope you get lots of good stuff! I wore the hospital gown until the second I left. They are great. And the ice packs were good too, although a nurse told me to stop using them after a certain point. I used them anyway...she didn't have a first degree tear, so she didn't know what was up! Also, you will be really puffy after you deliver. Or at least I was. I look back at my pictures where I'm wearing tank tops and PJ pants, and I just look so puffy. It's gross. But it goes down. Maybe all of those IV fluids? I remember someone on here saying they wanted to get into normal clothes ASAP, but I don't understand that logic. I felt much more comfy in the mesh panties, with my ice packs and my sexy hospital gown, with a robe over it when visitors came! Oh, and remember to take everything with you when you leave! One of the nurses even told me to do it, bc I felt bad, but take EVERYTHING. Oh my goodness...I remember the car ride to the hospital and walking to L&D and being so freaking excited. It's such an emotional day. Best day of my life...I'm so so so excited for you! Cherish and savor every moment! I wish I could relive it. And be good to Ms. Erma, the food lady!

Hou, after delivering N, I took I shower and put on my own clothes. What a difference it made! I felt so much better. I just wore yoga pants and a t-shirt. I preferred the pants to the gown because it held the ice pack nice and close to my body. It was kind of hassle when they would pop in to check me - I had to take my pants down so the gown was definitely easier in that sense.

I stayed in the hospital gown for a full day after giving birth...they are coming in so often to check your bleeding and everything...just didn't think it was worth it to change. But I felt so great when I did finally put my own clothes on....felt more like me and less like a patient in a hospital. I'll probably change earlier this time around.

Pictures are coming...first my 1st love, Evan!

And now some pictures from the u/s...

Geri hi, fellow Aussie here. I just wanted to pop in and say that when i had my c section I found the surgical undies they give you in the hospital to be the most comfortable thing to wear. I took a few pairs home with me and found myself choosing them over my normal underwear. Hopefully they still use the same type (this was 10 years ago, eek!) they were a snug fit soft mesh type that looked like little boy shorts and went higher than your belly button. One size fits all so they stretch perfectly to your size and shape and don't rub on the stitches either.

Good luck with your delivery! :wavey:

LV~ Lots of labor dust for you!!

Ditto c-section mesh pants. Loved em, brought em home, even washed em so I could keep wearing them until I got my staples out.

Good luck to all of you getting so close!

Hou I did not put on my own clothing until I dressed to leave. I was only there for about 8 hours after HUnter was born, which was overnight, so it was just easier to keep on the mesh panties and the gown. I showered etc when I got home.

Lanie Totally puffy from the IV fluids! I don't know about you, but after the birth I was only like 5lbs less in weight, and I was like WTF?? The baby alone weighed 8.5lbs!! Then I lost like 20lbs in a week or two, all fluids.

HMG, the first time, i stayed in the hospital gown the entire time i was in the hospital. but the second time, as soon i was ok'ed to take a shower, which was a few hours after birth, i believe, i changed into a nursing tank and my comfy pants. i just felt more comfy in them even though i was only there for 1 night my second time. have a wonderful time at the shower!!!

luvinlife, LOVE the pics of your little one!! we get to have another u/s in a few weeks and i can't wait.

LV, hope you get to meet your little girl VERY soon!

skippy, things are going great, thanks for asking. just chugging along here at 26 weeks. hope you are doing well and enjoying shopping for your little guys.

tao, have you shopped like a mad woman yet for your little girl? once we had it confirmed, we were having a girl this time, we went shopping like there was seriously no tomorrow. little girl clothes are so dang cute!

hope everyone is doing well!! have a great weekend!

HMG - Sounds like progress for you. I just wore the hospital gown the whole time I was at the hospital, even though I bought my own clothes the both times. I only stayed 1.5 days both times, so it was just easier since they were still checking on my uterus and vaginal area. I might have changed into my own clothes if I was there longer. Good luck to you.

HOUie - I wore my own clothes pre- and post-delivery. I made sure to wear a comfy top that I'd be comfortable sweating in (didn't have sleeves), but one that I would throw away as they put the baby on you right after she is born (at least that's what they do here) so it will get bloody. 2 hrs after delivery, after I had my dinner, I had a shower and put on a clean comfy top and the mesh panties they give you at the hospital which helps with the huge pads you have to wear. I didn't bother with shorts or pants as it's not comfortable, plus it's quite warm in the hospital, so I had a robe that I would put on for my trips to the toilet as everyone can see your butt through the panties.

Tiffany You have my sympathies - it is so annoying I have found the last couple of nights if I sleep on my side still but take the pressure off my shoulder (kind of contort myself ever so slightly onto my back at the top) it is not as bad - not sure if it will help. From what I googled after reading responses it seems to be pregnancy induced carpel tunnel and it generally goes away soon after birth :D YAY

thanks for the well wishes and prayers - our state is in clean up mode at the moment - still have not seen how bad it is IRL yet but when I return to work on Monday I will see some I am sure.

RT People will give advice generally cause they care - I personally listen and if it sounds good take it on board if it sounds terrible discard it - I personally love my Ob's advice the best, pregnancy is a beautiful and special time just sit back and enjoy it and don't stress :).

Also from your pics that you posted I am bigger then you and I have still got the huge comments - it is inevitable no matter what size you are comes with the territory or people will comment that your to small etc - people like to comment when your preggo - be prepared LOL

Tuckins good for you :) I swear I have been tempted to use that one people don't think but then I feel like I am stooping to their level - seriously at the end of the day your body does what it needs to do to make the baby and if your OB is not worried then nobody else has the right to be either :)

Geri I googled some C-section undies for you - I think these are the ones that the ladies are talking about http://www.babyshop.com.au/cube40/index.php?_a=viewProd&productId=29 these are $5.95 for a two pack I remember my sister wore the oversized t-shirt nighties in hospital good luck chickie :)

LV She will come :) but she is definitely being stubborn -LOL she must be comfortable in there :) glad the tests went well. Good luck with the acupuncture

HOU Thanks for the reassurance :) and dust that Ellie is staying where she is until the shower - but it sounds like she could be here any day now :D YAY

Luvinlife thanks for your prayers :).
OMG look at those cheekies and lips  all the makings of an ultra cutie baby there :) glad the ultrasound went so well :)

Tao Both your bubba's are just adorable - Evan just has the loveliest hair and eyes - what a handsome little boy :) and the new bubba U/S pics are just beautiful another bubba with perfect lips :)

__________________________________________________________________

Nothing much new here - MIL has started to stress (in a sweet way) as our reno's are far from done - rain does not help and DH has been feeling like poop I on the other hand figure it will get done in time - I am a very last minute kind of girl.

Have to say the ugly mat bras are OMG comfy and who knew a bra without an underwire would give such awesome shape - turns out I did not go up two cup sizes just one which is a relief and the back size is the same YAY :D

Back to work on Monday - that will be interesting and busy

Happy weekend ladies

P.S Wondering if Bliss has had her little girl yet :)

40+6

Second acupuncture treatment later today.

This is getting tiresome, but I still feel great physically, tired, but no real discomfort. Sleeping like a baby. Trying to stay positive . . . A year ago, I thought I may never be pregnant. Now, I am just days (if not sooner) away from meeting my baby. :twirl:

re: mesh panties, ask the hospital if they will give you any to take home... i came home with 4 extra pairs i think. honestly once the ice pack was out they didn't seem to work 'as well'...!

LV...are you bouncing on the yoga ball? get aggressive on that thing LOL.

is it Bliss's time already??? wow...that flew (easy for me to say!).

LV- I am so excited for you!! :appl:

Sorry, double post.

LV- You are so close mama! Come on out little S, the mommy thread is waiting for you :appl:

Hou- I just wore the gown while in the hospital. It seemed easier access to the bbs and the bottom area since they come to check you so often. Next time I might not mind some pj pants, though. And maybe a nursing tank? Oh, and like Lanie I was sooo puffy after the birth. Way more swollen than ever was preggo. It was annoying. But went right away when I got home and was moving around more. It was the IVF from the darn anesthesiologist  for the epidural. How was your shower??

Skippy- Congrats on wonderful team blue! So exciting. I bet your boys are going to be best buds.

Catluver- You look seriously fab! I am sure the weight is going to fly off. And you still look teeny  Don't worry!

BEE, KATEBAR, HOU, LV and ICEKID, thanks for the congrats re: the boys! We are starting to think of names!!

GERI, I am sorry she didn't move but yay for a plan!

DEELIGHT, woohoo for 32 weeks; it will be here in no time!! Yay! Hope that your hubby feels better soon.

LV, I went for acupuncture before I was preggo and loved it; is it relaxing? Yay, sending baby delivery vibes your way!!! I am soooo Excited for you!!! I am glad you are feeling great! Keep us posted please.

HOU, how was the shower? How are you feeling? Yay for the baby coming soooooon!!! I am so excited for you!!!

LUVINLIFE, oh my gosh, what an awesome 4d!!! Too cute about the feet playing; I love that pic, so sweet!

TAO, aw, Evan is adorable!!! Oh I love the 4d u/s; soooo cool!!!

PUFFY, glad you are doing great! I did a little shopping. hehe

Hi Momma's and fellow preggos I missed; hope you are doing wonderful!!!

BLISS, thinking of you and your LO!!! hugs

Hubby is clearing out his office for the babies; I guess he doesn't want to wait till the last minute. I am helping clear out our book shelf. eta: Oh before I forget I saw the cutest baby girl; I couldn't help but compliment the grandma on how precious she is. The grandma was so proud of her, sooo cute!!! I can't wait for all you mommas to post pics of your babies sooooon LV, HOU and BLISS! Nothing else too exciting; I am 17 weeks and feeling pretty good. My friend and I just got back from a 2 mile walk and tonight we are going to eat some Pad Thai! Hope everyone is having a wonderful Sunday evening :wavey:

Thanks for all the birthing wishes!!

Skippy, I used to find the acupuncture very relaxing. For these 2 recent visits, she used the electrical stimulation, which I'd never had before. Yeesh!! I found it very jarring and uncomfortable, plus I was worried about the baby. She assured me that the stimulation would not reach the baby. So, I sort of breathed through it and was ok, but not relaxed!

Did you like it when you went? Did you have the electrical stimulation or moxa?

I did find it extremely relaxing and loved it and would sleep so well at night. I did have electrical stimulation once a long time ago and found it a bit strange. I never had moxa; I have had cupping and thought that hurt. I am sorry you couldn't relax through it; thanks for telling me what you thought. I have been curious how it felt during pregnancy because I thought of going toward the end to maybe relax me. Hope the baby gets here soon; I can't wait to see pictures of your beautiful daughter!!! sweet dreams LV

Has anyone heard from HOU? I thought she would have written about her shower.....and Bliss! Where is she lately???

LV -- sorry to hear the acu wasn't as relaxing. Relaxation is what you need these days!!! I still can't wait to see the first photo of your baby that you post!

Good morning pretty mamas! :) ETA: hehe, Lanie, you and I were posting at the same time!!

I am dying to know if Bliss is still preggo or if her little princess has arrived!! Bliss, if you're reading but don't have time to post, just know I'm thinking about you and your sweet baby girl!!

LV, thinking of you!! Remind me when induction day is again?? I hope you're either having a nice restful morning, or that you're in labor! LOL, two ends of the spectrum but both would be good!! :) You are soooooo close now, hang in there!!

Skippy, it's not too soon to get that office ready!! :) The bigger you get the less you'll feel like doing! Isn't it fun dreaming about what's to come as you get the room ready?? Any early favorites for names, if you have decided to share them?

IceKid, yeah, I'm anticipating some puffiness, I hear it's pretty common. Those darn anesthesiologists!! :naughty:

Deelight, hope your first day back at work went well!

Noel, I hadn't even thought of the possibility of my own shirt and no pants with a robe for getting up - that sounds pretty good. I don't really like having anything on my legs in bed anyway, so maybe I'll try that!!

Tao, what a couple of CUTIES!!! Evan is such a big handsome boy now, and that last 3D pic of baby girl is adorable!! You must be a very proud mama.

Lanie - thanks for the tips!! I will definitely be nice to Mrs. Erma...I love anyone who feeds me. hehe. :cheeky:

Luvinlife - actually, the membrane stripping wasn't too bad, it was a little painful, but nothing ridiculous. :) LOVE your pics, I agree, those little lips are sooo perfect!! What a sweet little face!

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks for all the advice re: hospital gown vs your own clothes. I think I'm just going to bring some PJ's and a couple nursing tanks, along with a robe and slippers, and I'll just feel it out when I'm there to decide what to do. Robe will be good to cover up the hospital gown. And at least I'll have some of my own clothes if I feel like putting them on!

Not much action going on here, still having intermittent BH contrax but nothing painful or regular. I'm ready to get things going - planning to go for a walk today, maybe spend some time bouncing on the yoga ball, possibly try a little you-know-what with DH (If I can manage - pregnancy has really done a number on my libido and I feel like a big cumbersome hippo!). My shower was soooo much fun!!! My hostesses did everything up SO CUTE, they made a fabric banner thing with Ellie's name on it that I'm going to put up in her nursery, it's adorable!! I feel so extremely blessed at the generosity of everyone. We are MORE than set for Ellie's arrival. :)

Also, FYI, just bought my pump from Add A Little Love (google it) - they are authorized Medela dealers and stock all the latest models. Got a Freestyle for $285, no sales tax, and they have free shipping thru the end of January. Very responsive customer service. Plus you get free phone lactation support with your purchase!

HOU -- glad your shower went well! Isn't it wonderful how excited everyone is for your baby! I love that. I think I'm going to turn into one of those old ladies that stalks pregnant women I know. I just loved all the pampering and would love to repay the feeling! That's funny about DTD with your DH. I did the night before I went in, just to give my cervix a little extra oomph. But good god, DTDing hurt me so bad from about 34 weeks on. Hope you are able to "do all you can" to get that baby going!

HMG, Glad you had such a nice shower and that you are set with the many things that we seem to need!! I need to go for a long walk today too! Induction date is this Thursday the 20th. The idea is really growing on me!! Haha! I think I'll be admitted the night before, but need to re-confirm that at today's dr apptmt. I felt what must have been some BH last night. I even started recording them!!! I so cannot wait for this to get started, but there weren't that many. Grr.

Lanie, Yes! Boo on the uncomfy acupuncture. Maybe that's why it didn't work!! Grrrr. It's funny because after the first appointment, she told me very confidently, "Baby will come tonight." I said "REALLY!!!?!?!" She said, "but, in case she doesn't come, then come back tomorrow 11 am." Well, at the second appointment, she was like "let me know, either way, if it worked or not." Huh? So, yeah, seems like it didn't work, but maybe that's because I was so freaked out by the electric stim at first.

All I know, is I am so glad not to be at work right now! I've been updating my co-workers. Let them field all the questions!! Haha.

I've been keeping my doula updated because I imagine she's wondering when the call will come in. I figured she should know that induction will start on Thursday morning. I told her I'd find out what time they start so she could plan accordingly. She sent me back this e-mail telling me how I need to do this, that and the other thing to try to relax, that induction is a fear block for me, and all of this other jibber-jabber nonsense, which I interpreted as her telling me this delay is my fault. Uhhhhh, so I was about to fire back and tell her that I disagree and we should part ways, but my dear DH calmed me down. He thinks that she truly believes what she's saying and that she is just trying to help. I can see that, so I let it go. It's the same sort of thing that we discussed in class, so I suppose I shouldn't have been so surprised.

LV I know it is annoying to hear things that imply that it is your fault something is happening, but I think that there is nothing wrong with trying to instead interpret what she is saying slightly differently -- that finding ways to relax and cope with the notion of impending induction will help encourage labour. So you did not cause labour to be "delayed" (which it is not, btw, due dates are estimates ;)) ), but you can perhaps help encourage things now. It cannot hurt!

Thanks Icekid!

Hou, good luck!!! Glad you had a nice shower. I had one at work last week and it was really nice of my group to attend and give me gifts. I felt very awkward opening gifts in front of everyone though, especially the guys (it was a co-ed group shower). Hope you go into labor soon!

LV, little Samantha must be so comfy in there. Just a few more days before you’ll be holding your little one!

Geri, sorry your little one is still in breech. Not much longer to wait though, and it’s good to have a plan in place.

I’m thinking Bliss is probably holding her precious girl by now, hope we hear from her soon.

AFM I can’t believe I am 35 weeks. Still packing on the weight. I’m fortunate that I’ve been feeling mostly good at least on the “inside” (no digestive issues, regular energy), just getting pretty uncomfortable and sometimes painful with the huge, heavy belly and stretched skin (covered in stretch marks!) and aching feet from the extra weight. Also, he is sitting sooo low that when I sit, it is uncomfortable where my belly hangs over (the “seam”). I don’t think he is locked in place yet though, because he still moves around so much and I don’t have any pain or pressure in my cervix or pelvic area.

I don’t know if I can hold out another 5 weeks! I have a feeling that I’ll be ready to go at 37 weeks, but I am still terrified of labor so part of me doesn’t want to give birth either. Heh. I do find if I am too physically active, I get lots of BHs. I think I have my first internal this week. Anxious about wrapping things up at work before I go too.

Anyone else worried about their kitties? I know a bunch of you have kitties from the TTC thread – LV, Hou, and Kunzite and Lynnie others too. Ours can be needy at times (which I love) and I already feel bad for them that they’re barely going to get any attention when the baby comes. We’re not going to let them in the baby’s room either because they shed like mad.

We have 2 cats and they aren't allowed in the baby's room either. We have started not letting them in that room and I think that will really make a big difference. Maybe you could try that? We both made a pact to spend at least 10 minutes a day playing with the cats once the baby is born (while Cayden is napping or we have free time).

My sister finally had her baby last night - at 42 weeks we think but no-one knew the due date for sure. They'd started induction on Friday night (pessaries) and nothing happened so they had another go on Saturday and again nothing happened so then they started talking about a c-section as the baby's head was no longer engaged plus she wasn't dilated so they wouldn't have been able to rupture her membranes and she couldn't have pitocin without in case of amniotic embolism... ugh...

So my father went to the hospital yesterday evening, got her out of bed (I love my sister dearly but she is immensely lazy) and made her walk round every floor of the hospital, climb every flight of stairs, and the whole outside grounds.

They did another pessary at midnight, by 1.30am contractions had started, waters broke at 2am, by 3am she was 6cm and the baby was born at 4.45am. So a 3 hour labour from start to finish, no tears and the baby (little boy) was 9lbs 8oz... not bad for a first baby! Am very jealous!

She seems pretty okay apparently although says it was all way more painful than she expected. She hasn't named the baby yet - the ex-boyfriend is coming to see her tonight so I hope it all goes okay. The baby was totally flat when he was born and had to be resucitated but seems fine now. For anyone that doesn't know, she was on meds that put her into menopause to treat very severe bipolar depression, plus on lithium and a load of other things that are not good to be pregnant on. It should have been near impossible for her to get pregnant and so she never suspected a thing, plus she's 6ft 2" and big boned so she carried very small and the nausea and slight weight gain were put down to side-effects of the meds. She didn't find out that till she was 7 months pregnant having split up with boyfriend very badly 6.5 months previously so it was all a big shock to everyone (especially my father who is an MD and had seen her pretty much every week - although I saw her the day she found out and wouldn't have ever guessed) and even when I saw her last week she was not at all happy about having a baby so we are all hoping that things go well from now on.

My father was her birth-partner and is just ecstatic - like a very proud father rather than grandfather! My mother hoped that it would help him bond with the baby as they will be living with my parents for the next year and I think from talking to him today that it has definitely done that!

I'm currently at my other sister's house near Wales - she was due yesterday with baby no.3 - as she needs someone to look after her other kids when she goes into labour. I've made her hop round the sitting-room on her daughter's 'Space Hopper' this afternoon in lieu of a birthing ball. So, it's baby central in my family at the moment. Daisy is having a ball with her cousins (4 & 6) - the hero-worship going on is super-cute. I have to go back to London on Friday so I hope the babe turns up soon so any 'eviction dust' would be welcome!

Good luck HouMed and LV - hope you both have labours as short as my baby sister's! Hope all good with Bliss!

Pandora- Congrats to your sister!!! I'm glad mom and baby are ok!

We have two cats and they've had interesting reactions now that O is home. Our girl kitty is mostly interested in him. She likes to look at him when he makes noise and sniff him. She doesn't like to get too close though because she's still now quite sure what to make of him. Our boy kitty on the other hand is very jealous. He's always been very needy and now it's double. He's always at our feet or trying to get in our laps... even when we're holding O. We just try to pet him as much as possible and give him a lot of love!! And we make sure his claws are trimmed because there's a lot of kneading going on!!
