Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

So last night we went to our neighbor''s for a party. Tessa was a hit for sure. Everyone was saying how she was such a sweet baby (she slept the whole time). One of the guys there is a family doc and DH somehow started telling his about what happened. His theory is that it was a reaction to her throwing up so violently. This would be the best case senerio. He also told us we *have* to try to burp her after 1-2 oz (which we don''t do). So now we have been stopping her feedings to burp. Hopefully that makes it easier for her to get it all down. He didn''t seem to think she had PS since her vomit only projectiles a few inches not a few feet. Since she is also gaining weight he said he wouldn''t bother getting her tested. DH and I still have to talk about what we want to do but since she is 6 weeks it seems her symptoms would be heightened by now. Also he said the Axid takes a few weeks to kick in so that makes me feel better. Now we got to take our cat to the vet. I think he has a uti/kidney infection

So I realized something that has helped me and hopefully will help some of you. Some friends came over today and announced they are having their first baby in June! She asked me about sleeping and I said I discovered it doesn''t matter what time it is and I don''t even pay attention at the clock. She''ll want to play at 4 am but sleep at 4 pm. I just wait until she naps. Life seems so much better if you ignore the fact you SHOULD be sleeping. I feel a lot less frusterated now.

Good for you!! Great way to look at it. I know I had many love fests early in the AM. Very precious times. The new pic in your avatar is sooooo cute. I just want to eat her up!!!

Lisa as tired as I am I know there is a point where she WILL fall asleep. haha! I just took that picture today. I think it is the one I am going to use for x-mas gifts. We are giving both the grandparents a cool frame from Redenvelope that also has her hand and foot print.

TAcori: Delaney was 8 weeks before she slept through the night and she was early compared to a lot of kids. Many parents don''t sleep for a good 6 months to 2 years..depends on the kiddo. Now she falls asleep after her 11pm bottle and wakes up at 8am. But my kids are lazy do-nothings... LOL...Of course jake woke up SCREAMING and sobbing hysterically last night at 3am. Only DH laying down with him in bed calmed him down. He was chewing on his fingers. Great, I thought all his teeth were in, but who knows. He''s 3 on Friday (when the first appt with a dentist is recommended), so I''m going to make him a dentist appt tomorrow, just to rule out a cavity or something. He was a sobbing mess. But hang in there, she''ll sleep. Also, Delaney didn''t get the hang of eating and not tossing it up for a good 2 months. I do give her a dose of Mylicon in EVERY bottle. I am just starting to phase it out. My ped said spitting up is a laundry problem, not a health problem. Of course, white bumps & the ordeal you went through would freak me the hell out. I''m glad she''s ok. Sounds like she got stressed. Delaney puked a few times & it came out her nose. She looked so terrified & it broke my heart. Thank God that hell is over. she is fine now & her tummy has settled into real life I suppose. Tessa''s will too.

Well, tonight was my 6 year anniversary....dh gave me some BLING!! (will post pics in SMTR tomorrow when I can do some daytime shots) He gave me a half carat diamond band.....
36.gif
its a half eternity...(so I can size it if my fat post prego fingers shrink) and its so pretty...firey princess cut diamonds, channel set with milgrained edges (swoon over the milgraining
30.gif
), he can''t remember the color, but its a VS2 band & to me its a LOT whiter than my H diamond in my w-ring or the G diamonds in my pave melee. He picked it out all by his lonesome and I am sooo THRILLED with it. Its lovely--very sparkly!!! Totally my style. Of course, Stephanie @ ABC (our jeweler) helped him choose it...but I just love getting diamonds...haven''t gotten any since I got married 6 years ago! whoooo hooooo!

I''m off to have some leftover banana cake from Jake''s bday party y''day......(his real bday is next friday)

Wishing much sleep to all the mommas!

Ella,
I still owe everyone Baby C''s 1st birthday pictures. I''ve been too busy at work (12 hour days) and hubby has been having problems with the memory chip. Sorry...
7.gif
About pumping, since I have a singleton and am a bonifide Jersey cow in disguise, I don''t need to pump after every feed. At my peak, I can pump 6 oz every 3 hours. Some mornings, I can get 16 oz at one pumping session.
9.gif
It''s great that you can pump one handed. I use a pumping bra so that I can eat/read/surf PS while pumping. It makes time fly by faster and easier to let down.

Tacori,
It sounds almost like Tessa had hives or something akin to that. I''m glad that she''s okay now. What a scare.
32.gif
I''m also relieved that her spitting up isn''t PS.

Ella--you sound like you are doing terrific-!!-In regards to the c-sec. recovery. My neighbor had one and when I went to see her 2 days after the birth she showed me her thighs--she was so swollen the sheets on the bed were putting creases all over her body and she had major ''cankles''
3.gif
So I am assuming it''s common. Gas pain is also apparently common after surgery. Ick and double ick.
I am going to give you a "Yes MOOOOM" response to your advice to take it easy. I have been, and I am terrified of preterm labor so I am not doing anything crazy--i am being careful. I promise
2.gif

--funny that you mention not being able to imagine having only one baby--my co-worker with twins says the same thing. Esp if it''s your first experience being a mom, there is nothing to compare it too--you just cope with the added madness I suppose and get double the smiles in return for your hard work.

Tgal-- Arrive safely in Oz? How''s the weather down under?

Went to visit my sister this weekend and almost got stuck in Toronto last night due to a big snow storm. They got 30 cm over the day and it took DH and I almost 6 hours to get home. Luckily there was no one on the highways and we just drove super slow and made frequent stops so i could go shopping along the way
2.gif
--bought a Bundle Me at Pottery Barn (dang those things are expensive here!) I hope I get a lot of use out of it.

Everyone ready for Christmas? Just around the corner.....

Tacori--i missed your post earlier--about the hives incident--I was going to suggest that it was a reaction to vomiting as well--i worked in the infant centre of a daycare for 4 summers and I dealt with tons of babies. One in particular was having tummy troubles and was BF in the mornings and then formula fed by us at the daycare (he was only 8 weeks when he started attending) I remember feeding him a few times and then he would REALLY throw up--he would get all red and rashy. Must have something to do with the heat and energy it takes to throw something up (i know i get super flushed/hot flashes when i toss my cookies) Almost like a heat rash maybe? It got better over time, but I can''t remember what/if we changed anything.
Hopefully it is just something simple like that.
Glad to hear you have come to terms with your sleeplessness-haha--i''ll have to remember that bit of advice come March!

tacori, that new photo is the absolute cutest thang!! love how you keep capturing those huge smiles of hers
9.gif
i hear you on the time issue -- so true! though sometimes I think my kiddies DO know the difference between 4 am and 4 pm and that they just choose to be awake at 4 pm to torture mommy ... nighttime is so much harder than daytime!

chrono, 16 oz in one pupming?! holy cow (pun intended)!! can i hire you to feed my babies so i can take a nap? looking forward to seeing the photos when you get around to it. The image I have of Baby C in my head is one from last summer where he was wearing a cute hat (I think?) -- I remember you and Curly posted baby photos at the same time, and both your little ones were just adorable so I can''t wait to see more recent shots!

happy anniversary, diver!!! and congrats on the blingy bling -- will have to check smtr for pics, it sounds gorgeous! way to go, diverguy! And happy birthday to little Jake, too. We''ll of course need photos from his party too...

msb, yes, when it works out, I do tandem feed the babies (both at one time). I''ve had some really successful feedings, which are absolutely a blessing (half the time it takes to feed two babies!), but I''ve had others that have been disasters. Gabe feeds *perfectly* -- goes right for the breast, latches on, and will be there for 40 minutes, sucking away. Katelyn *wants* it and goes for it, but sometimes lately after latching on and sucking for like a minute, she''ll detach and cry for like 30 seconds, and then latch on and suck for a minute and then cry for 30 seconds, and then latch on ... and she''ll do that for like 10 minutes and then she''ll decide to settle down and eat OR I''ll just give up and give her bottled breastmilk or formula. So when she''s in that mood, I can''t feed at the same time because I really need both hands for her. But when she''s in a better mood, I can feed them both at once (with help from hubby b/c I def. have NOT mastered getting both babies to me at once yet!), and it''s pretty damn cool. It worked out well this morning -- hence me being here on PS, writing a nice long message.
36.gif

My battery on the laptop is about to poop out, so I gotta sign off now. Hope to catch up more with everyone later!

Ella,
My output has really decreased now after a year since my body has adjusted to a singleton. I have so much milk that my 2 deep freezers in the basement is FULL and I don''t know if I''ll ever get a chance to use all that frozen milk.
32.gif
I even gave my niece who is only slightly older than Baby C all my excess freshly pumped milk in an effort to stop my stash from getting any larger. My niece''s mom was not a good pumper so I helped out until she turned 1. Plus having all that extra milk means more money spent on milk bags.
9.gif
If I were close by, I''d probably be able to feed your twins too.
3.gif
It''s great that you''ve got the hang of tandem nursing. I''m in awe.

Diver, your band sounds beautiful! Reminds me of my wedding band
30.gif
Happy anniversary lady. Poor Jake. Hope the little guy feels better soon.

Chrono, I *might* have made this up (sometimes my mind plays tricks on me
2.gif
) but I thought I heard there was somewhere you could donate Breast milk. Maybe a hospital?
33.gif
I don''t remember. Just an idea. I CANNOT imagine getting 16 oz! I struggle to get 4 and supposely I have a lot of milk. I guess it is a blessing and a curse. Can''t wait to see baby C''s b-day pics.

Jas, I am hoping it was just due to stress b/c frankly I look forward to DH''s feeding sessions. I am SOOO sore sometimes the girls need a break. March is going to be here before you know it!

Ella, I seriously take 20 pics to get 1 good one. Taking pics of babies is a lot like taking pics of diamonds
3.gif
Now that she is social smiling it is a bit easier but sometimes she gets distracted when I bring out the camera. So funny she is wearing a turtleneck in that pic but since babies have NO neck you can''t see the top. Nighttime is hard when you are tired, DH is tired, maybe is fussy....time seems to go slower when it is dark out. Last night for example I fed her at 10 pm, 2 am (yes 4 hour break!!!), 4 am, 7 am, 9:30 am, then 12:30 pm....my poor boobs...Sounds like the twins are doing great! More pics please!

I have a few questions mommies: When do you know to go up to the next diaper size??? I think I am going to finish out the newborns and switch to size 1s. poor thing has a HUGE blow out this morning. Poop all up her back
32.gif
Also what does cradle cap look like?

Tacori,
Yes, I know about the milk bank donations but can''t do so for various reasons. They are very particular with testing, age of baby when the milk was pumped, how old the milk is, and the last time I called, I was told they are full.
33.gif
That''s odd because I thought donated milk would be hard to come by.

Baby C nurses every 3 hours still (and at night) so sometimes I feel like those wolves or big cat moms on National Geographic where the mom just lays back in resignation as the pups/kits nurse. Tessa nursing every 3 hours is normal. As she gets older, she might even stretch it out more once a while.

Diaper blowouts are quite common at around the 6 weeks to 3 months stage. Even a giant diaper can''t hold it in sometimes.
9.gif
I usually go by weight but change to the next size when it''s getting tight or leaks or am getting close to the recommended weight on the diaper.

Cradle cap looks like dandruff. Lots of flaky skin on the scalp (usually at the crown area). Rub in/massage some olive oil, let it sit, then comb it out. You can shampoo as usual after that. Don''t be afraid to really scrub the scalp when you wash baby''s hair.
It might take a few applications for the cradle cap to completely clear up.

Thanks for all your advice (as always!) Chrono. Yeah, I think she has cradle cap
8.gif
I''ll try the olive oil trick. Sounds messy but she''s gotta to look her best for the holidays right?
2.gif
She has got to be around 9 lbs now. Newborns are up to 10 lb but 1s start at 8 lbs so...I might just switch so I am not stuck with leftover ones.

I can''t believe the milk bank would be full either! How strange! Oh well. At least you tried.

OMG TACORI; Your avatar is too cute. I cannot get good smiley pics of Delaney. Drives me nutso. She hams it up until I hit the button. Durnit. Delaney has cradle cap too & the moms at playgroup today told me to use OliveOil too. LOL. 9lbs? Wow...Delaney was 12 at her 2 mo appt. Chubbybubby. She''s in size 2 diapers & wearing 3 to 6 mo clothes, (has been since 8 weeks) and she won''t even be 3 months until wednesday!

Is today too late to send out xmas cards? ARgh. I am ONLY sending them to dh''s coworkers/boss, and a few of our out of state friends. I simply cannot get it together.

Ok...off to try and do a bling photoshoot so I can put my new band on SMTR.
31.gif

I got a smile, I got a smile on camera!! woowooooo

Delaney....almost 3 months old...in her pretty Santa Dress...(her casual xmas dress...not her foofy one)

P1020745.JPG

Diver, D is too cute. Honestly I got lucky with that photo. Like I said before I take SOOO many in a row to get one decent one. Tessa was 8lbs 7oz at her 1 month appointment so I am only guessing she is around 9 lbs now...I can''t wait until she gets to the magical 11 lbs (when they sleep longer)
31.gif
She is still in 0-3 month. She is so dang skinny though. They fit her good length wise but she has a lot of room on the sides.

Still have to send my boppy cover back...
20.gif

Tacori, is it me, or do you think Tessa & Delaney resemble each other a little? PS sisters? LOL. Your new avatar reminds me of my girl. I think Delaney is about 13 or 14lbs, so she''s been sleeping well since about 8 weeks (when she weighed 12lbs, so there ya go). I feel like her weight gain has slowed down. I need to wake her up..she''s a snoozing past her lunch & if I dont'' get 30 oz of formula (aka 5 bottles a day) in her, she WILL wake up at 4am hungry. Oy.

Diver I have thought the same thing! They could be sisters for sure. I wonder if they will still look alike as they get older.

Tacori and Diver--yep, they sure do look alike--how cute! See what happens over PS--you find your baby twin hehe
gorgeous gals!!!

They DO look alike, how fun!!! What pretty babies they are!!!

I thought the same thing too! I love their new pics; they are precious little dolls and for sure too cute
30.gif

tacori and diver, both your girls are just lovebugs...too cute..makes me miss mine being tiny things.

Ok, I should be sleeping...
20.gif

Jas, Lisa and Skippy won''t it be interesting to see if they continue to look alike as they get older?

MrsS, you''ll have your own little one soon enough!!!

Lily wanted to pop in and wish everybody a happy and healthy holiday season! She had her first plane ride last week--all the way across the country to LA--and she was a rock star. I''ll write more after I catch up on everyone''s posts but Lily REALLY wanted me to post her holiday photo!

lilyholiday.jpg

OMG, all of these pics are so cute!!

Diver and Tacori- your little girls look totally alike!! They definitely could be sisters!!
2.gif

Curly- Thanks for checking in! Lily is BEYOND adorable....she''s such a big girl now!!! Happy holidays to you and your family!!!
35.gif

Curly- you''re little lily is so adorable..

There are so many cute princesses: Tessa, Delaney and Lily. I need more than 1 picture.
C''mon new moms. Cracks whip. Get on it.
11.gif

ahem...Chrono YOU owe us some pics
2.gif

Curly, Lily is TOO cute! She is getting so big!

Oh, seriously cute baby girls here!! Speaking of cute baby girls, I''ll try to post a new photo tomorrow of my li''l cutiepie -- and then Chrono and I have to add some cute baby BOY photos too!

Babies had their second pedi appt. today (haha, funny that just two weeks ago, "pedi" meant pedicure to me, not pediatrician!), and they''re doing great! I think I told you guys that Gabe has been eating nonstop? He gained almost a full lb. since last week''s appt!! Ms. Katelyn gained half a lb too. Yay, babies!! The little ms. stretched out too -- they actually measured her length twice because they were like, "That can''t be right" after the first measurement b/c she grew so much since last week. Ha hah
1.gif

So my breasts have been bothering me a lot today
38.gif
I think I need to see the lactation consultant again to make sure everything is going right and to get some help with Katelyn since she''s not as into it lately, which bums me out. I''m definitely getting into the "I wonder how long I can really keep this up?" phase of it. It''s pretty exhausting trying to feed them both, I can''t imagine it''s going to get any easier when Q goes back to work (after the first of the year). BUT I am determined to stick with it for a few more weeks at least. I just got the Gerber''s hot/cold Breast Therapy gel packs, and they''re awesome. I''ve already used them both hot and cold, and both feel great.

OK, off to feed. MOOOOOOOO.

Curly--that is a great pic!!!

Ella--so good to hear the twins are growing so well!!!--can''t wait to see new pics
36.gif

Good luck with the BF--my coworker with the twins was in visiting yesterday and we were talking about all the nitty gritty of birth and beyond--she mentioned that the first few months were hard--esp. the tandem feedings and used her mom ALL the time to help out--she said it got so much easier when they got bigger and she ended up weaning them at 18 months-- but like you, didn''t think she would get through it at first... sometimes it helps to hear that there is an ''easier'' light at the end of the tunnel. Will you have someone to help you when Q goes back to work?
Have you tried the cabbage trick for breast pain yet? I''ve tried it with my eczema problems (i chill it in the freezer first) and it is really soothing--something about the enzymes(?) that helps with soreness...worth a try...and since you feel like a lactating cow--you can always reach down your shirt and munch on some greens if they don''t work !
