Two separate sacs is (as far as I understand) usually indicative of fraternal unless the egg split very very early. Odds are fraternal.

I am my own hat trick now.
Wow that''s sooooo exciting Jas!!!

Mrs Salvo, yeah, emphasis on shocking!!! I, as I mentioned before, am so relieved ella has been posting here! I am still 9 weeks, and although my full term due date would still be 9/21, they are shooting for about 36 weeks, which would put me at the end of August sometime. There is a risk of complications with my 10 cm fibroid, but let''s just hope that doesn''t complicate things further.

Thanks for your support! Squee!

Thanks Zoe (I love that show, btw)!

Thanks Zoe. We are both having a bit of a rough day. Talked to the nurse and she gave me some suggestions. Did you know vick''s makes plug in things? Pretty cool. Hopefully it will help her.

OMG, congrats!! I''m so excited for you!!!!!!! I''m totally here for you to tell you my experience with things (when you want to know!), as a twin pregnancy is a LOT different from a singleton pregnancy in many ways. Check out twinstuff.com too. As I''ve mentioned before, a lot of the people are ... ummm, kinda dumb, but I still got a lot of good information from the site in terms of what to expect. It''s nothing like PS and I didn''t feel any connection with the people there whatsoever, but I did get info there on the pregnancy, and I still use it for first year and BFing.

So, was finding out it was twins the CRAZIEST moment of your life or what?! Did you know right when you looked at the u/s or did they tell you?

When are you going to tell people?

Such exciting stuff on the board today.

Ella-your little ones are too cute for words. msK has the worlds most precious smile, and mrG is like a little man...I cant imagine having two to stare at all day!

Jas!--TWINS are you kidding me!?! How flipping cool! There must be so much to learn? did you have any idea? i vaguely remember someone saying they ran in the family...was that you? The two of you must be so excited!!!

Tacori- sorry the two of you aren''t feeling too hot. If the pedi isnt worried, I wouldnt be! Hope the two of you get through it quickly.

ian is having a fussy few days here as well. I switched up his formula and his digestion is adjusting. He also has another set of teeth coming in. He will be 5 months in just a few days and is bottom two are fully in and the top two are about to break...so that milestone is hitting quick, but I dont think his chubby self will be rolling or sitting any time soon!

thanks for the compliments re the babies -- they're super smiley in the mornings so that's when we do our photo shoots
9.gif

lili, the mark on k's nose is a hemangioma, or a strawberry mark. it will get bigger over the next year and then will go away. i was heartsick when i found out it would get bigger (esp. after making the mistake of looking it up online) -- it's right in the middle of her face -- but the dr doesnt expect it to get too too big, so ... we just have to stick it out. There's nothing we can do it about it, and I'm thankful that it's not anything more serious (and that it will be long gone before she starts school hopefully!). A few days after I found out what it was, I lost a friend to breast cancer -- she suffered through a horribly aggressive kind of cancer and went through hell repeatedly over the past six years -- and that sort of put it all into perspecitve for me, you know? A red mark on Katelyn's nose obviously isn't ideal -- you want your child to be 100% perfect in every way -- but it's temporary, it's painless and harmless, so I can deal with her having it. There are much worse things in life!

By the way, yes, Katelyn's got the CUTEST smile -- you're right, it's almost grown-up looking! It's so funny in real life though -- she scrunches up her nose, and her big blue eyes just sparkle! I *think* she laughed today too! Gabe's smile is adorable too -- he does the big open-mouth kind, whereas hers is more of a horizontal smile.

Tacori, aww, poor Tessa! Not related to her being sick, but what does she weigh now? I know she's little -- I wonder how she compares to Katelyn?

Jackie, forgot to say (you've prob read this before anyway but I'll say it again) that I delivered at 36 weeks exactly and had two healthy and strong little babies, so don't stress about having the babies early! G and K had no nicu time and went home with me on day 4 just as planned. I'm still smiling about the fact that you're having twins! I think we got married around the same time too, didn't we? (Me: Sept. 2007. You?)

MrsS, I'm tired just reading about your 3-mile hike ... good for you, lady!! You deserve those chocolate chip cookies! I on the other hand do NOT deserve the brownies and Oreos I've been eating lately. Oy, apparently I still think I'm eating for three.

MsF, when did Ian start teething?? I feel like it's got to be way too early for mine to start, but Katelyn has been super drooly today and her cheeks were all flushed yesterday and today, and I looked those symptoms up (first-time mom -- I look everything up!), and they're signs of teething! Also, she's Ms. Crankypants today, but I think that's more from the fact that she refused to sleep today ... grr.

Jas! Wooohoooo! congratulations! Amazing! Twins! You are going to be twice blessed! I LOL''d at your WTF moment. Way too cool. Hmm, whats in the water on this board? :-) Does this mean you get twice as many cookies & treats?

Tacori: I am so sorry little Tessa is sick! Poor monkey! and you are right, Delaney lost so much hair & is kinda doing the "male pattern baldness" thing. She has a TON of black hair above her neck in back, kinda like guys who have the ''donut'' cut. LOL. And my hair is still falling out in fistfuls, so we will be bald together. Sheesh.

Ella: Awwww...such sweet petites! Your babies are so wittle....want to kiss them! Love those beautiful faces and smiles. (we call them "smilers" around here) I can''t get over how tiny they still are compared to my moose girl. I swear, Delaney will be 5 months tomorrow & she''s been wearing 6 to 12 month clothing for a month now!!!! (17lbs now I think!)

Curlygirl: how''s our newest returning preggo feeling? Are you so excited?

MSB: LOL...whassa matter? chicken? bok bok bok bok...
25.gif

Howdee to everyone else! Been soooo busy.....trying (and I stress the word trying) to build a "stockpile" of food/dry goods in my pantry/freezer and have been shopping the grocery sales to build my stockpile. Its kind of neat not to run out of things! I''ve always shopped daily (wasting oodles of $$ I know) and now that I have 2 kids, that''s one less thing I NEED to do. So I''m trying to build a pantry so I don''t have to run out everytime I need an ingredient. So annoying.

I guess I had to grow up sometime! LOL.

well, kids are gonna wake up soon, so I''d better skeedaddle.

Ella, I''ll have to weigh her (and by that I mean weigh myself, then me holding her, then subtract). She is sleeping right now so I''ll wait until she is awake. I am *guessing* 11.5-12 lbs. She is a petite thing (but so was I) She was wearing newborn diapers until a month ago
23.gif
I finally started her in 3-6 month but they are baggy (except carter''s 3 month fits JUST right. Any taller and she''ll grow out of it). She was 7.2/20" when she was born but she was also a week late. Tessa started the MAJOR drooling a few weeks ago. She goes through at least 3 bibs a day. They will just be SOAKED. I read it was b/c they don''t really know how to swallow. I was worried about teething early too (since I already have enough BFing woes w/o teeth into the mix) but I guess this is normal. So between vomit/spitting/drooling...her adorable clothes NEVER get seen.
15.gif

Diver, that is how Tessa is. The crown of dark, long brown hair (like an old man) but the top is growing in lighter. Kind of funny looking. Yay for stocking up! I can''t imagine shopping with two little ones. I avoid taking Tessa whenever I can!

MsF, I am not worried though I thought it was strange when she suggested warm juice. Tessa hasn''t had juice yet. Isn''t she too young???

Speaking of weighing oneself, a nurse came over today from the insurance co (urine and blood samples) and I weighed less than I thought!
36.gif
I have 13 lbs to get to pre-preggo weight, 18 lbs to get back to wedding weight (my goal). It seemed almost doable.

By the way BRU is having a big clothing sale. I am SOOOOO noisy whenever I go and look in everyone''s cart like this man in a suit with 5 huge BOXES of formula. I start making up stories like he is adopting a baby or something. I am entertained SO easily! (and I have to stop myself from commenting on products that have disappointed me or that I love). I got her some cute Carter''s stuff. We really like the sleepers w/ zippers and they are HARD to find! So I stocked up on a few sizes.

YAY TACORI!! I have 18lbs to wedding weight too!!! I only have 2lbs of Delaney baby weight. (then I get to work on my Jake weight. oy). You go girl!!! We can whittle our waistlines together. :-)

OMG - Jas (Jackie)!!! Congrats on the twins! How awesome is that?? How are you feeling besides the initial shock??? Do twins run in your family?

omg! jas!! congrats!!!
do i have the right to be jealous? no? ah well... i am
9.gif

and i''m not preggo nor trying. but, hey i said it. i''m jealous.

but really, that''s SO cool. yeh, do they run in your family?

Jas: TWINS!!! oh my!! that must have been quite a shocker!! but im so excited for u!! congratulations...ella will come in pretty handy having just gone thru this herself too!! (Jcrow: ur not the only one! im jealous too!! hahaha)....

Tacori/Lili/Diver: hahahha...well lets just put it this way....2 months ago i told DH i wanted to try for another one much sooner than i initially thought (we were planning on waiting till my boy is 2 years before trying, so i was hinting that perhaps we can try when hes closer to 1.5 years old instead)....now fast fwd 2 months after that conversation where my dear boy has started 'crawling/standing/grabbing/screaming/pulling/scratching' at everything and i had to reassess the situation very quickly! hahaha..i love my son to death, but he is super duper hyper and active and i dont think i would be able to handle another little one so soon..so we're back on track to try when he is 2 years old :)..(he is 10 months old now)...

Tacori: that is SOO funny about how u weigh urself, then u and Tessa and then subtract to get her weight..coz thats EXACTLY what i do with my son too!! bahahahahah..

Ella: Oh my!! wat gorgeous smiles!!! they seem to grow up so much everyday!! (as for the mark on mrsk's nose, ur rite...parents always want perfection for their kids that we sometimes tend to overlook the simple things that make them perfect (good health, growing well, etc etc...)

MrsF: Good luck with the teething! that is no fun for sure..but great news that hes gotten his bottom 2 already and hes only 5 months! my son got his bottom two and his top two (almost a week apart) when he was 9.5 months :)

Ella, I have to drop in to say your babes are so precious and lovely and I just want to snuggle them! I love those beautiful smiles
30.gif
They are so small but I can see so much personality in their faces. It just made my heart melt!

I''m so excited for you - wonderful news!

Holy cow, Jas!!! Congratulations! If it is any help, one of my co-worker''s wives had twins and they made it all the way to 40 weeks and were super happy and healthy bambinos.

Hair loss in babies - so funny. They get this creepy little male-pattern baldness thing going on. And my little guy had dark-ish hair when he was born, and now he is a blondy. That needs haircuts all the time! He has shaggy baby hair going on now, which I think is just sooooo cute. But Daddy says not so much. But DH is gone for the next 2 weeks, so we will keep bambino nice and shaggy.

Hair loss in mommies - not so funny. argh.

JackieJas--OMG --Congrats--what a great surprise! I am
so excited for you!!!!!! Has it fully sunk in yet?
Ella--the twinsies are looking great--they are just so
sweet --is K still a lot smaller than g? He looks
bigger in the pics, but maybe it''s just the picture
itself?
That smile on K is priceless!
Tacori--hope you guys feel better soon :-( So far
I''ve gotten thru the pregnancy without a sniffle as
well--so i feel like you--due for a cold--it''s bound
to happen sooner or later I guess--keep getting lots
of rest.
Lili---you are a teeny-tiny preggo--so beautiful! I
looked like that in my early week 20''s--and I am
jealous of your legs--i am obsessed with non-preggo
looking thighs right now, b/c mine have changed so
much i am fixating on them--ha--anyway, Thanks for
''going bare'' with me with the belly shot ;-)
..................................
Back at work today--our province just
made a new holiday "Family Day" so DH and I got
yesterday off which was nice. I had a lovely weekend visiting my sister--had
a "mommy to be" massage at a luxurious spa--it was
heavenly. It was so nice to be on my belly for an hour
(the table is specially desiged for pregnancy with a
''hole'' for the belly!). I got warm compresses for my
feet, dressed in fluffy robe for half the day,
indulged in mineral drinks and fruits--ohhh to be rich
and able to afford that treatment on a regular basis.

.....................................
Need everyone''s opinion: My school''s ski team (which I coach) won a region championship this past Friday which means they qualify to go onto a provincial compeition. The races are next week in a city about 4 hours away. The trip is 3 days with early mornings, a few meetings, some paper work and of course supervision of the team (5 girls)--but nothing too physical (because I am not going to actually ski with them)
I am wondering if I should go???--I''ll be 36 weeks and although chances are I''ll deliver late rather than early, I am still slightly worried that I could go into labor while supervising a bunch of teenagers--or worse yet--on the school bus while in transit.
6.gif

I can get another teacher to go in my place--it''s just that it would be nice to see them race.
What would you guys do?

Oh my goodness, so many well-wishes!

We started telling people yesterday. The uniform response was a long pause and then "I''m glad I''m sitting down." We had not been trying at all, and certainly twins was unexpected (I think most people are now convinced that twins only come from fertility treatments). The only poopy response was from my own sister (who has some issues) who said, "Well, that''s nice. Don''t send me pictures of your belly or ultrasound." Oookaaay.

We told our parents not to tell people until 9 am (CST) this morning to tell people, giving us first crack at spreading the news (they totally beat us to the punch w/ the wedding) so my guess is we have 2 grandmas to be sitting right by their phones, counting down the minutes until they can speed dial!

DH once again went into interior design mode and has (in his head) figured out how we are going to restructure the whole house.

snlee -- thank you! I think we''re excited...we''re still in a state of shock!

ella -- thank goodness you are here. I am totally spazzing out. I will take any and all helpful websites at this point. Finding out was soooo weird; I actually had the belly US and not the more "personal" version, and I saw 2 little sacs about 1/2 second before the technician saw it. I swear my heart stopped. The best was Charlie''s face...it was almost cartoonish with his mouth hanging open. I think I had mentioned that C wanted twins because it was "efficient" (only have to go through certain things once...like pregnancy, toilet training, etc.) I told him to stop joking about thing like this, otherwise I am going to end up with 14 fetuses in there. I''m not worried about delivering early...I refuse to "put that out there." The doc is hoping I go 36 weeks. I''m an overachiever, so I''m aiming for 38
2.gif
I got married in October of 2006 but I think we may have joined the boards at the same time. It is so weird to see two little blobs in there! They are in bunk-bed mode.

msflutter -- I only thought it might be twins because of how tired I was and how hungry I am and how much weight I''ve already put on. They do not run in my family at all. I think I just had a loaded chamber due to being on the pill for so long!

diver -- ha! I am already saying that any second helping is for the second baby. Works like a charm, although DH is starting to catch on when I apply it to Ben & Jerry''s Cherry Garcia (Low fat, of course!) I had major nightmares last night about my body running out of room for the babies and just exploding. Gross. Congrats on the new shopping plan!

radiant -- thank you! Twins don''t run in my family. This is a total fluke! I am feeling very scared right now -- as I wrote above, I couldn''t sleep last night between my brain running 10000 miles and hour and some weird @ss dreams. I''ll calm down soon enough once I research this to the nth degree. I hope!

jcrow -- you are so sweet. I guess we''re even because I am so jealous of how totally gorgeous you and your wedding looked!

msb -- thanks! I promise to share as much of the experience as you all can stand!

Mrs. Mitchell -- Hi! And thank you! You are so sweet!

LitChick -- hey girl! Thanks! It''s so weird! I appreciate hearing all of the "good stories" because Heaven knows now everyone will feel obligated to tell me of all the "complications" that could happen with twins. I am soooo not looking forward to that.

So, enough about me, how are y''all?

Jas12 - mini thread jack. Which Canadian province added Family Day? I''m in Alberta, and we have had it forever - nice to see a February long weekend is catching on across Canada!!

First I wanted to say congrats to all the new moms and moms-to-be. The pics are fantastic!

Second, something definitely is in the water. My good friend is having twins, she''s due in June and is planning another natural water birth like her first. Another friend of mine''s sister is also having twins, she''s due next month I think.

No one is supposed to know, but DH''s sister is expecting, too. She''s about 3 months, but not excited yet.

JackieJas: TWINS!! That is awesome - congratulations!

One of my college friends gave birth to identical twin girls on February 11. Their names are Aubrey and Reese. I think she was about 36 weeks when she delivered and they are still in the NICU but are doing better each day. Both weighed 5lbs, 13oz - which I thought was pretty big for twins. She sent me some pics and they are cuties. She can''t wait to bring them home.

Ella: Such cute baby smiles!

I had a horrible headache yesterday and stayed home from work and this a.m. I sneezed and that turned into dry heaves so I''m just feeling blah today. I made it to work so I guess that''s what matters. The boss is at a trial all day so I can move some of these piles off of my desk. I''m just soooo tired. I have not been sleeping well and it''s really starting to catch up with me. Ugghhhh. Well, off to work.

jackiejas, what amazing news!!!!!! I can not believe you''re having twins--that is just fantastic! I''m sure you''re in shock but you are doubly blessed. What a wonderful surprise!! And good thing you have ella here to guide you through it all. You''re going to be fine! Keep up that great sense of humor--it will help you get through everything. So excited for you!!

ellaila, such adorable little smiles. They are just precious--so tiny!

lili, your belly is perfectly petite. I can''t believe how small you are. You look fabulous.

Jas12, same goes for your belly. I can''t believe how perfect it is. You are going to get your figure back in no time!

Tacori, sorry that miss Tessa isn''t feeling well. It''s no fun when they are sick. But just hang in there. Great job on the weight loss--see, it just kind of falls off when you''re not paying attention!
2.gif
I hear ya on having another girl. If I don''t, I''m so screwed!!! Lily has more clothes than any human being (adult or child) should every have!!!! I keep packing things away that she''s outgrown but there is still sooo much more. I''m an expert shopper too so she pretty much already has her whole 18-24 month wardrobe now but that won''t stop me from buying more!! So dangerous...

msflutter, Ian is going to be eating a steak for his 1st bday!!! Go teeth!!!! Lily got her bottom 2 in at 6 months and has been working on the top 4 for the past month or so. It makes me so sad to see them but there''s nothing I can do about it. I miss those gummy smiles but the toofy ones are cute too!

mrssalvo, you eat all the cookies you want!! You totally deserve them!

msb, what are you waiting for?!?!? Come and join me!

Diver, thanks for checking up on me. I''m doing ok. NAUSEOUS but ok!! I actually feel so much more tired this time around--maybe because I have to keep up with a 9 month old speed crawler! I had to close my office door today and put my head down for 15 minutes. I didn''t feel that way the first time around but I guess I shouldn''t be surprised. I''m not going to complain too much because I''m really not feeling too crappy yet--although I''m only just over 8 weeks along and with Lily, I really started feeling bad around 9 weeks so I''m just counting the days! I had only told my mother so far about the pregnancy and she is too funny because she kept it from my father (her husband of 45 years!!!!) but this weekend we told both sets of parents and they were, of course, overjoyed. So I guess I am starting to get excited too. I have my first appointment next Wednesday. We''ll see what happens...

Curly--my hat off to you for running after a not-quite toddler and dealing with MS--I always have to re-think my whinning when I think about moms that have to take care of little ones while feeling like crap! Hopefully you won''t get worse like you did with Lily--you never know, the MS gods may overlook you this time.

LitChick--Ontario just added family day! So nice to have a dead-of-winter holiday! I forgot you were in Alberta--whereabouts?

Jas--crummy about your sister''s response to the twins--do you think she is envious?

Jas, 36 weeks is kind of close to travel. I would ask your doctor. I personally wouldn''t but then again I was soooo sure I was going to go early
20.gif

DH is taking Tess to the docs this afternoon. Her cough is worse and she is wheezing a little. Poor thing!
39.gif

jas12, i agree with tacori about asking your doctor about traveling. I personally probably wouldn''t do it at 36 weeks but I went into labor with my first at 37 1/2 weeks so with my history of going early I wouldn''t take the chance. See what your dr. says though.
