Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

NYC, that is true. I guess I''ll give them something to talk about. I can just walk out holding my pump in full view. Then everyone would know. Since you BFed maybe you can answer a question for me. Is it normal for one boob to produce way more milk than the other? I notice my right one always makes more (when I pump). This morning it was double what I was able to pump out of my left.

Lili, yes my mini electric is also battery operated. It is medela''s single one since I am a SAHM (work part time from home) I knew I didn''t need anything too fancy. It works well. In fact I use it on the lowest setting. It just so loud and sounds...well....people *could* wonder.
2.gif
I do wonder if Tessa can smell me and therefore wake up sooner. I think she needs to move into her own room

MrsS, BTW who should I ask for when I call? I can't believe they didn't get either e-mail. How strange!

I'd ask for Bill. tell them mrssalvo told you to call and bill already knows about the missing emails.

re: manual breastpump..i agree with getting one soon and practicing if you are going to use one. that was the only kind i ever tried and it hurt so badly and i pumped forever and only got 2 ounces out. way too much pain and trouble for me so i gave up. my guess is the motorized on you gals use are so much better.

I also think Tessa can smell you when you are close and would probably wake up and want to be nursed out of comfort more than needing to eat at this point. maybe if she sleeps so well for your hubby he'll offer to take her more often

oh and here's the link to the band I'm thinking about..2 with pink and 1 with blue..

http://www.pearlmansjewelers.com/jewelry-designers/beverley-k-jewelry/rings/13PP1/24/

Oh MrsS, I love that band. I am thinking of getting one with all rounds. Are you going to get yours in rose gold? sizing bar? I still really like that one I posted awhile back with the pink diamonds also.

I haven''t decided yet if i''m going to do the rose gold or not. i may not just b/c i''ll do the blue in WG and if i stack i think i''d prefer them to all be WG. i will probably do full eternity to fit my right hand, moving the size up a bit to allow for the snugness of wearing 3 bands, then i could easily wear them on my left hand. since this is my last baby, i''ll feel comfortable going with the size my hands are after he''s born. still no swelling in my hands at all. just went again to get measured again to have my DK sized and i''m still a 3.5, although i''m having my ring made in a 3.75 just in case
1.gif

hey tacori...one boob did make more than the other..its very normal..it tends to go by which side you nurse more on, thats why they tell you to switch so the milk production is sort of the same rather than lopsided--the law of supply and demand..lol
i moved my son to his own room after 6 weeks because he didn''t like the bassinet and he slept so much better for us. we say we should have done it sooner.

mrs.s...a 3.5!!! thats tiny...tell your dh that he''s getting off easy with an eternity band for you...lol...my dh would be happy if i didn''t have 6.5 fingers because the etenity i got would ave been 1/2 the price..lol

Tacori, let me know how your chat with Tessa goes about every 4 hours! I obviously had no idea how to have that chat either - there were days where I wondered why I was even wearing a top!

hi preggies...hope everyone is feeling well and that your lil'' beans are jumping around.

Tacori: you should start hand pumping once a day now so that by the time you go it''ll be easier to do on the plane. i pumped with the electric pump, but i forgot it on a trip and had to buy a hand pump along the way. it was so awkward and difficult to do since i was used to the electric one. i wound up (
20.gif
TMI) squeezing in a hot shower just to relieve myself because the hand pump didn''t get as much out--plus it took A LOT longer to do.

I was just coming on here to say the exact same thing. I bought a hand pump after returning the electric one to the pharmacy we were renting it from (it was a very strong hospital grade pump) and I could BARELY get an ounce out after 10 or 15 minutes. I''ve never had any luck with it. Plus, it makes my hand ache after a while. I actually find hand expressing much more effective. That said, you may have no problems at all and it''s much easier than lugging around an electric pump. Like NYC said, try it out beforehand and see how it goes.

MrsS, I actually think it would look cool to have the mix of WG and RG. Just know they will do any color for the same price which I think is cool. The sizing bar changes the price. Not sure if it goes up or down but I am getting on either way. Plus I want a space to engrave her name and birth date.

NYC, I was going to move her last week but she got sick. She is a week and half away from her 4 month b-day. I think it is time...I do switch off and nurse on both sides...maybe I favor the right and don''t realize it. Luckily they don''t LOOK different. That would make me feel freakish.

LC, our talks never go in my favor
2.gif
Of course she did have 2 four hour stretches but just switched back to 3. Oh well. I do a lot of my PSing while nursing. TMI? Haha! I also LOVE talking on the phone while nursing b/c I know she won''t start crying. But she has started an "I love mommy a lot" phase where she stops to smile and stare at me. It is sweet but during nursing I like to get down to business. So now I try not to engage her or talk during feedings.

MrsS, I
30.gif
that band you're considering! I can't wait to see what you and Tacori get! I'm still dropping hints about the one I want (a WG rolling ring with one plain band, one with pink sapphires, and one with blue sapphires), but since I am officially unemployed now -- yeah, I'm a SAHM!! -- and hubby is taking over my car payments, credit card bills, etc., I'm not really in the position to be asking for jewelry right now unfortunately. Maybe I don't get a "push" pressie b/c I had a c-section?
25.gif
But he does know what I want, so hopefully once things stablize a bit financially, I can bring it up again ...

As for boobs, my left side produces WAY more milk than my right side. It's so frustrating!! And I totally try to work the right one more to build it up, but it just doesn't. And Tacori, if I were you, I'd absolutely take the battery pump on the plane. I'm sure that you've been on a plane before when someone's been pumping and you never knew it. I'm sure we all have! I think that now that it's a part of our world, we'd be more aware of it, but the majority of people on a plane will have no clue what you're doing even if you walk out with the pump right in your hand. I know that if I had seen someone with a pump four months ago, I wouldn't have known what it was!

And Gabriel and Katelyn (who I've started to call Katie my Lady) are in their own cribs, and they're just fine in there! They've been in their own room for a month or so now (maybe a little longer?), and they were sharing a crib till last week when we separated them. K is a maniacal squirmy little worm, and she was just all over the place in the crib. We'd go in and find her kicking Gabe in the stomach, even though we had put them down in the same position next to each other! It's definitely more convenient to have them closer to you for the nighttime feeds, but we sleep a LOT better with the babies in their own room, and I'll take better sleep over a few minutes of convenience anytime.

Tacori, I think Tessa is probably just still too little to go more than three hours unfortunately. Gabe is doing longer stretches (he did 6.5 hours the other night), but little Ms. K still is at 4 hours on a good night but usually 3 hours on the dot.

How are all the other mommies and mommies-to-be doing?

Oh, and I had to look up Ellen's "moo" comment, and TGal, I laughed out loud at your "Mom, is that you?" post!! That and whoever wrote the "Why buy the pig if I just want a little sausage?" comment -- brilliant!

Tacori and MrsS : I can''t wait to see the push presents you end up with...please keep us posted!

Tacori, for what it''s worth, I would just use my electric pump on the plane. Who cares what the other passengers think...you''ll be comfortable and you won''t have to deal with the manual pump. Also, I hope Tessa listens to her mommy and starts to sleep for longer stretches.

Ella, I must have missed that you are a SAHM....that''s so great. I love your idea of the rolling ring with pink and blue sapphires!
Don''t get me wrong, I love sparklies, but I''d much rather stay home with my baby over a push present!
2.gif
I actually just decided the other day that I''m going to take an extra month off of work. I just can''t imagine going back.

We put Tayva in her crib a couple weeks ago. She never slept well in her bassinet and I never slept well with her in there. She does great in her crib. Usually 3 hours, but has gone up to 5. She''s only 5 weeks, but she''s 10 puonds so I think that is part of it. Speaking of...it''s time for the little piglet to eat... Hope everyone had a great weekend!

So i was out doing groceries and what catches my eye in a bin....Cakesters! Yep, we have em now. Just in time for the end of my 3rd Tri! I decided not to arouse a new craving and walked on past--this time anyway
2.gif

Off to watch some of the oscars--interested in the maternity gowns--Cate Blanchet looks stunning (but when does she not?), didnt get a good look at Jessica Alba, and I was suprised to not see Jlo there--she must be back in size 2 buy now eh? It''s been 48hrs...come on!
2.gif

Jas, you gotta try the cakesters! Just once
27.gif

Dem, you are right. I should just take the battery one.

Ella, yay to staying at home! I can''t imagine leaving Tessa all day either. Oh, and you DO deserve a push present even if you did have a c-sec. You probably deserve MORE for having major surgery! I have always heard 11 lbs is the magic number. She did really good last night. 4 hours then 5 hours. I''ll take it! I am worried b/c I just finished her last feeding. Yes, my child goes to bed at midnight and she fell asleep and would NOT finish so I doubt I have long.

Burk, 10 lbs! Wow! Mine is 11 lbs at 3.5 months. But she is little.

So am I the ONLY one with the baby still in our room? Now I feel behind! Must. Move. Her.

Good morning friends! How was everyone''s weekend?

Mornin

So grumpy--arrived late to work to find students waiting at the door and it was all i could do to put on a happy face for them. i am just really over work right now--i am just glad i get plenty of silent moments at my desk to chat with you girls--PS is keeping me sane during the day now. Two....more...weeks
5.gif

Had a terrible sleep--i know i shouldn''t complain cuz it''ll only get worse when baby arrives, but i just *hurt* at night
15.gif

On a happier note my teeny nursery is almost complete--put up some shelves and the $20 second-hand glider that i discovered and restored is almost complete (i should have taken a before/after shot b/c this thing was beyhond hideous and now it''s crafty chic hehe)--since we plan to build a house this fall i didn''t want to spend a fortune or paint in bright colours so for the few hundred we spent i think it''s cute. Funny how my stroller is almost twice the cost of my nursery--thank-goodness for a handy hubby and a mom who can sew!

Saw my wedding photographer this weekend (in the middle of a frozen lake of all places--an outdoor art show on the ice!),she was shocked to see me very pregnant exactly 8 months after my wedding!
1.gif
She asked if i was considering doing preggo shots--i''ve seen her prenatal work and it''s gorgeous--i just feel a little modest to pose for those.
Q: Other than ella, did anyone else get professional shots taken?-- and if not, did you regret it???

Tacori--okay, you twisted my arm--i''ll get cakesters next time i am out

jas12, I''ve had a terrible time sleeping too. i wake up every couple of hours in pain so i''m right there with you. yes, you are still sleep deprived after the baby comes but at least during those few hours of sleep it''s so much more painfree..

i didn''t do pro shots with either of my pregnancies nor will i this time. i''ve never regretted it.

jas, like mrss says, post-preggo lack of sleep is a lot different, and at least you're doing something instead of just lying there awake and in pain! So take heart -- it'll get better, I swear!

And my preggo portraits were FREE, which is why I did them! I actually never even bought any of them (which I still really want to do, I just keep forgetting to). The woman who took them is aspiring to be a pro photog so she's trying to build up her portfolio. If you really want to get them done but keep costs down, maybe find a student? Look on craigs list? I'm sure you've got lot of photos of your belly over the past 9 months so it's not like your wedding where you've got just one day to capture it all ... But that said, I'm glad I've got the pro shots b/c they're really lovely (i've got the proofs so i can still see them all)
21.gif

jas and mrss, so sorry you''re having a rough time sleeping. I struggled with sleep the last few weeks of my pregnancy, too. No fun.

So, speaking of professional shots, we just got the proofs back from Tayva''s first pictures. The photographer was amazing and I love them all...so hard to choose. Hope you all don''t mind, but I just have to post a few.
21.gif

MrsS and Ella--that gives me hope--adios achy everything!
--MrsS. isn''t it annoying to be able to be so active during the day and then feel like you need a crane to shift your weight at night!?! Such a strange feeling.
--Ella, i was thinking the same thing too. At least with the baby i will have a little reminder sleeping beside me that needs feeding/changing or something...a tangible source of smelly, wailing, cuddly fatigue

For the moms: curiosity question---what did you birth in? A hospital gown, your own pjs or au natural? In my birthing books all the women are in the buff, and I hear even a sheet on the skin can be aggravating during labor--but i am pretty modest so i can''t picture just pushing away, buck naked with a crowd of onlookers...but will i even care at that point, probably not!?? Modesty, what''s that?

Jas12, once I got to my L&D room, I headed directly to the shower. So "au natural". Once out, they tried to keep a gown on me, but I lost that right away. So very naked the entire time. Really, you don''t care.

Post away, Burk! We loves us some beautiful baby photos here!

Jas, modesty goes out the window once the baby comes out and takes over! You''ll be flashing your boobs and hooha to any person that walks in your room ... Seriously, in 36 years I think I showed my boobs to less people than I have in the past three months! (ha ha)

And Burk, I''m a SAHM just as of last week when I officially resigned! My maternity leave just ended, and I decided -- well, decided long ago actually by not even looking into any daycares for the babes -- that I just need this time to be with them. They only have their "firsts" once, you know? Not that I have anything against moms who go back to work -- to each her own -- but for me, I need this time.

To the mommies, any of you try Itsy Bitsy Yoga? My friend is teaching it, and I think I''m going to go to a class this Friday. Supposed to help babies sleep and with digestion ...

jas12, I delivered in a hospital gown. I agree with lc, that you really don''t care by the time you are delivering.

Okay, here is my first attempt at a collage of the professional pics of Miss Tayva...

tayvapics.jpg

Ella, good for you!! That is so great. I am jealous. I am able to take an extra month off (I just decided that last week), but I''ll need to go back to finish the school year (I''m a middle school teacher). The good thing is, I''ll have the summer. I just can''t imagine not spending all day, every day with her...I''m sure you know exactly how that is. Oh, and I''ve never heard of the Itsy Bitsy Yoga, but it sounds awesome. Let us know how it goes!

Burk, beautiful photos! I want to get some professional ones of Tessa. Not sure when, but someday.

Ella, I am glad you are able to stay home. Besides 2 babies in daycare would be expensive. Just tell your DH you would only be working to send them to daycare
3.gif
I totally hear you on the boob thing. All female members of my family have now seen them. My mom was there for the birth so she saw EVERYTHING. Afterwards she asked if I wanted privacy to nurse....ahhh....you just saw me deliver a baby (more of me than I have even seen of myself!) and you think I will be why with my boobs?!? Silly mom.

Jas, I gave birth in a hospital gown. Actually next time I won''t even bring my own PJs b/c I was in a gown the whole time. Afterwards is...errr...messy
14.gif
Unless you have some that you won''t care if you stain I would just wear those stylish gowns. Plus the nurses need easy access.

MrsS, finally called for my quote. They are going to e-mail it over. I hope its in our price range....they were very nice.

Hello all, I know this thread is a bit more focused on parenting and later pregnancy these days, but I just wanted to jump in and say hi!! And thank Jas for her ginger vibes... that made me laugh.
9.gif
I know lots of people have much worse morning sickness than mine, so I actually feel kind of lucky just to have the constant queasiness, but no vomiting (so far!). My dad is a pharmacy-owner, so my mom brought me home a whole bag filled with anti-morning sickness stuff... B6 lollipops, a whole assortment of Sea Bands, a bunch of different pre-natal vitamins to try, ginger Altoids, ginger gum, etc. And the Sea Bands actually seem to be working... yippee!! Now if I could just find some "real" food (other than Saltines and Lifewater, that is) that sounded remotely appetizing.....

I also had to laugh at the posts about stroller excitement... we live in the city, so our stroller will be our primary mode of transportation much of the time. Which means I''m already going crazy researching everything out there! I babysit for a little girl who has the Quinny Buzz, which is really nice and I love that it''s different than the 9 million Bugaboos on every block. But we stopped at a baby store the other day and when I test-drove the Bugaboo, I was horrified to admit that I LOVED it. So now it is definitely in the running. I liked the look of the UppaBaby Vista too, but when I saw one in person at the bookstore the other day, it was HUGE. Much wider than I''d prefer. I''d like to check out the Valco Rad too... a bit cheaper and looks interesting. Good thing we''ve got until October to decide! I feel a little silly thinking about this stuff already... but it''s hard not to!

And the most exciting part of my week by far... counting down to our first ultrasound on Thursday!
36.gif
OK, that was a lot of exclamation points for one post... I should probably end this now... haha. Glad everything is going well with all the other PS mommies and pregnant folk!

thanks tacori! We were very fortunate that the photographer came to our house and took them there and her prices are reasonable...my MIL thinks we need professional pics every month! Hope the ring is in your price range!

ephemery, so sorry you''re dealing with morning sickness. It sucks feeling like you''re hung-over every day! Hopefully something your dad got for you will work. Oh, and so exciting that your US is this week!

Burk I love your collage of miss Tayva, it''s lovely.

Ephemery, I hope the morning sickness isn''t too bad. I know how excited you must be for Thursday, that first ultrasound is really amazing.

Jas12- i gave birth in a gown both other times. I did bring my own PJ''s with my second but tacori is right, the nurses will need access and it was a pain with my pj bottoms. this time i''ll probably just stay in the gown again.

burk..adorable photos

eph...good luck with your ultrasound this week. the first one is just so much fun.

tacori- fingers crossed that the ring is in budget for you..glad you called, did you end up talking to Bill or someone else?

Burk, hey if she''d paying
2.gif
We''ll probably do it annually. I think I have taken some decent photos so far. That''s awesome she came to your house.

Emp, hope you are feeling good. The first u/s was surreal IMHO. We could not see anything but it was good to know to the professionals everything looked good. Plus hearing the heartbeat was amazing.

MrsS, I talked to Julian (sp?) he was very nice and felt bad about the e-mails. It was cute b/c someone else was using the Bev K book and he said he couldn''t wait to see the ring I was describing. I told him I predicted a PS boom of Bev K so they should order more than one. I figure with Woo, you and me we''ll start the trend. I was trying to think last night if I would want the same style for the next child or just something similar. Tough choice for sure. He''s going to let me know how big the sizing bar is too. I realized Tessa probably will not have the same size finger as I do so there is another good reason to get one. Now I''ll just have to decide if I should give it to her on her wedding day, when she has her first child, or in my will
12.gif
9.gif

Thanks for the info on haute couture Birthing Attire.....or lackthereof
3.gif

Tacori--yep, i''d rather the gunk all over hospital stuff instead of mine. I did buy some loose tanks at walmart and some large boystyle undies that are comfy--for early labor--i''ll just toss em if i get hot and go buck. Funny about your mom--my mom is NOT modest (she has close-up pics of my birth-i remember looking at them as a kid!) and thinks i am crazy for being so.

Burk--your pics are beautiful!!
30.gif

Ella--i think you should buy some of your pregnancy pics for sure. They were great!!
Also, I think you made the right choice staying home with the twins--as a past daycare worker myself i can say that as much as i luved the babies i cared for (and i really did--i cried when i left them to go back to school each fall) they just don''t recieve the same care and luv they do from mom and dad. Personally, i''d sacrifice a little financially if it meant raising my kids---but if i luved my job, like many do and really wanted to go back that would be a different consideration.

Eph--yep, i felt the same way about buying the bugaboo--but i tried a ton and it was just was so smooth (important for my climate), relatively light (as far as travel systems go) and not complicated at all. The overall winner for me. I am just happy not many ppl in my area have one. I''ve heard good things about the Stokke strollers as well--and they are cute!
I had the same queasy, non-vomitting MS as you--most foods were not overly appealing, however i had a big appetite and eating seemed to help so i sure didn''t loose weight.
Fruit smoothies were a good way for me to get vitamins without much grief (threw in some flax oil, ginger, hemp hearts to beef up the nutritional value)

Burk--
That is such a sweet collage of your Tayva.
I love the B/W and sephia quality.
She's a doll.

Jas12--
Sorry you are having such a miserable time sleeping.
Just hang in there. Just a month left.
True, you'll be sleep deprived once the baby comes, but at least (like the other ladies have commented)
you'll be painfree and have more freedom in the way you sleep
1.gif

Yay for completing your nursery. Definitely post some pix for us to view.
Oh, I think you should do the maternity pix -- you look so cute.
I just love how Ella and Diver's came out.

Tacori--
Hope the quote come back within budget.
So what shape and color did you decide on?
Anyway, regarding passing the ring down to Tessa.
How about giving it to her on her 16th b-day.
I always thing that year is a good year for a young lady to receive a nice piece of jewelry.

Eph--
Hope the bags of m/s goodies your mom brought do the trick.
Anyway, so exciting about the first u/s.
Like Tacori said, it makes it all real, at least for me since I didn't have any symptoms
other than this insatiable hunger. Seeing the little bean with the heartbeat just confirms that
everything is ok and the baby is growing as it should.
