Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Wow Tgal, you went through everything. I have many questions for you, of course after you are come back well-rested. You are one strong woman.

Yay!!!--sometimes it pays to be up till the wee hours--Thanks for the update Mara!

.......
CONGRATS T-GAL!!!!!!!! I am so happy for you, Tguy and little Amelia. Yesterday I had a strong feeling you would have a girl. I know you wanted one so you must be over the moon!

Hope you recover speedily and that whatever complication occured is now behind you--it may not have happened the way you wanted, but you have little Amelia in your arms now!! {:appl:]

Can''t wait to see a pic! (we PS''s just won''t leave you alone-it''s always something eh?!)

..............

Oh my goodness--typing posts at the same time

Tgal--you deserve a medal!!! I don''t think you missed any type of labor girl. You can fill me in on each of the possibilities if i am still stuck here by the time you can post the story.

I am totally going to keep an open mind about this labor business, and apparently avoid chocolate cake (and to think, i almost baked one in the spirit of things here on PS--LOL)

Wooo! Congratulations--can''t wait to see pictures of little Amelia!!!

another update, she texted me a few minutes ago, why isn''t this lady resting??

i have no idea what half of the stuff she said is, so here is what she wrote...i told her i didn''t understand pregnant gibberish so i would just type verbatim, HA HA!

''Just read the PG thread on blackberry but can''t reply. Please say thanks to all. Csection was great. Funny and could only happen to me. Did natural labor, pictocin natural labor, pitocin epi labor, and figured I''d try Csection too. Big and unexpected thing happened during labor which changed things. I blame the cake! More on that later. Suffice it to say I got into full spirit of April Fools! Ttot (I still call her that) is a sweet baby. How the doctor thought she was going to be 9 lbs I''ll never know.

Send Jas and Mrs Salvo labor vibes for me.''

ha ha she made me laugh, she''s so cute.

She''s adorable. I think what it means is her labor wasn''t progressing pitocin with natural labor, and pitocin with an epidural. Meaning she wasn''t dilating, cervix wasn''t effaced. Or perhaps the heart rate was decreasing with contractions, thus the C section. WHO KNOWS? I sure don''t there are so many things that go on... For me I was a clam, water broke, pitocin, and nadda. 48 hours later a C section. I had contractions the size of MT Everest!!! Rest well TGAL!!!! You''re a trooper for sure!!!

this living in a totally different time zone is killing me!! he he he....

thanks so much Mara for the update!!

YAY TGAL!! congrats on your sweet little girl!!! Im so sorry u had to go thru every single kind of labor, but an adventurous gal like u just has to try everything doesnt she? :)

and dont feel about the cake, i agree with those who said a preggo should NOT be denied anything!!

Tacori: Hope the blow out lessens soon..i recall with my son, i just went up one size and he was fine (I used pampers as well)...hope it works for u!

Mat. leave: i hear u on the 6 weeks

we get 45 days here and it is no where NEAR enuf
7.gif
.....it was HORRIBLE going back to work so quickly after i gave birth...

MrsS/Jas12: sending delivery dust ur way!!

Jas12: thats so strange that they wouldn''t offer epi (only in extreme cases as u said)...that should at LEAST be an option for the mom shouldn''t it be?!

question re restaurants:

I have NOT gone to a restaurant yet with my son...he has his daily nap around 12:45/1 pm and thats usually when we have lunch...its very diff to go out and have lunch coz he just doesnt sleep in his stroller (hes too intrigued by his surroundings and ends up being reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal cranky for the rest of the day).....dinner with him is a definite no no as well..hes usually in bed by 7 (and we eat dinner around 8)..so unless we have a baby sitter at both times, meals outside are just not an option....wondering how u ladies handle lunch/dinner outside with ur little ones??

LOL!
Seriously...I have baby fever so bad lately. All of my friends are having babies, FI''s bro just had a baby, then there is this thread.....geeezzzze. Probably should wait until AFTER the wedding...and school....and until we have money in the bank. Still can''t stop myself from asking FI if he wants to make a deposit into the madison account (the name I''d want for a girl...lol).

I need to watch the "crowning" scene from the movie Knocked Up again...it gave me nightmares.

Congrats to the Tfam and welcome Miss Amelia! (I predicted girl; I think Colin for jas hehe). I hope your recovery goes quickly and you''re home and more comfy soon, Tgal. Can''t wait to hear more from you and see Ttot!

And a big thanks for sharing w/ everyone, Mara.

Thanks so much Mara for posting and taking a hit on the batter...I''m sure it''s still delish!
CONGRATS TGAL and TGUY! We''re all thrilled for you and glad you seem to be doing ok.

I mentioned TGal''s calm approach to labor (i.e. cake baking) to my mom, who nearly choked. "You can''t do that!" she said.
I thought she was being, ya know, overly protective. Turns out my sister (her first L&D) was 3 hours from first contraction to delivery and I (second L&D) was 2.5 hours.
So, no cake baking for me, especially since hospital is 20 minutes away, but with traffic, it could take 1.5 hours (I hate Chicago/Evanston traffic.) Please pray for a non-rush hour labor!

Anyway, back to important stuff -- Jas12, how are you doing this morning? Mrssalvo, any changes? How are my other preggo friends? Jen, how''s twin gestation life treating ya this am?

Again, all the mamas who posted pictures -- thanks! I lurve ''em. And ella, it''s amazing how gifted a typist your little one is ... and cute to boot!

Tacori: you are scaring me with the poop explosion stories! Eeeeekkkkk!
Mara: Thanks for the updates on T-gal!

Jess

DivaDiamond, poop will become your life - how often do they poop, what is the consistency of the poop. Yes, it is pathetic. I have been pooped on so many times, I have lost count. Once, I had to block a poop with my hand when I was changing his diaper. Baby poop is amazing really. How a small creature can create so much poop!!!

Congrats to TMama and TDaddy!! And yay for lovely li''l Amelia Skye -- what a rockin'' mom she''s got!!

And yes, leave it to TGal to experience the "best" of all the labor and delivery worlds, eh? To copy and paste from a post I wrote when I was recovering from my c-sec -- hope it helps!!

On the topic of c-sections, here''s some info I figured I''d pass on that I hadn''t known ahead of time:

1. Oh, the gas!!!! One of the worst pains from the whole surgery was the gas pains. And not just in my stomach (where they press up against your incisions, making lots of uncomfyness) but everywhere in the body -- the shoulder, near the ribs, etc. I was drinking decaf tea and walking the halls as often as I could to try to relieve some of the pressure, and I guess that helped somewhat, but YIKES. I did not expect to have such painful gas. ETA: ASK FOR A WARM COMPRESS FOR YOUR BELLY. THAT WORKED WONDERS! I LITERALLY FELT THE GAS MELT AWAY ...

2. The swelling. I had some ankle/feet swelling near the end of the pregnancy but it was nothing compared to what my feet looked like when I got home from the hospital. They were HUGE. I guess being pumped full of liquids when in the hospital will do that to you. Keeping my feet elevated -- and I mean *elevated*. Not just resting on a pillow but resting on a stack so my feet were waaaaaaaay up in the air -- for two nights while I slept has returned them back to their normal size finally though -- hallelujah!!

3. Taking care of babies is hard -- taking care of babies when your belly is swollen and full of gas and you can''t get off the couch and you''re in pain is beyond hard. Like everyone tells you, take the help when you can get it. I didn''t want to admit at first that I couldn''t be SuperMom right away, but once I started resting more and letting my MIL make me sandwiches and do all those "But I can do it myself!" things, I started feeling better.

4. Nurses are wonderful people. (Dani, I was thinking of you when I was in the hospital!) Truly. We had one nurse in particular that I just wanted to throw in my suitcase and take home with us.

5. No matter how miserable your recovery is, it''s all worth it in the end. The pain is temporary -- the love of your babies is permanent

CONGRATS T-Gal!! Amelia is a beautiful name :) Can''t wait to hear the full story and see some photos!

Out of curiosity, does anyone know if TGal thought it would be a girl and why? I love hearing all the "non-scientific" theories that turn out true!!

Yea for baby season!

LitChick, Miller is too cute! You''re setting the boy clothing bar too high here for us mamas though. My guy is wearing Old Navy, Gap Kids (on sale), and lots of hand-me-downs. Oh the shame!
3.gif
Ah, even if he wore a paper sack though, Gabie would still be cute. But yeah, the Knucklehead stuff looks really adorable!

Jess, yep, poop poop poop and more poop. Here''s a typical conversation:

Me (in really high silly voice): Gabe, did you go poopsies?
Hubby: Did Gabe poop?
Me: Yes, but it''s not the good poop.
Hubby: So it''s not the soft poop?
Me: No, it''s the kinda tomtato-paste consistency poop that is halfway out the bum, halfway in. Oh, and he got poop up his back today too.
Hubby: Poop poop poopsie, pooper?
Me: POOP! Poop poopapoopa poop. Poop. Poop!

And so on and so on ... (OK, the last two obviously are fake but I swear it feels like that''s how our conversations go these days!) But yet, somehow even though all we talk about is poop, I still manage to find my husband attractive.

Oh, forgot to say THANKS MARA for letting us know about TTot!!

Tgal, sounds rough girl! But I knew no matter what happened you''d get through it with humor and grace. Sleep, sleep, sleep!!!

LC, little man looks just like you (of course I have no idea what your DH looks like). Love the shirt.

Diva, it isn''t as gross when it''s your kid. I promise

Msb, we have been lucky so far. Tessa either sleeps or stares (who knows at what) when we eat out. But her naps/bedtime are not set in stone. Could you eat before or after his nap and before his bedtime. Must be a PITA to get a babysitter every time.
